Itinerary

Day 1

Delhi

Saturday. Upon arrival into Delhi, you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to relax or explore this bustling capital city.
Overnight: Delhi

Day 2

Old & New Delhi

This morning, our Welcome Meeting takes place. We then enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi, taking in the Red Fort, Humayan's Tomb, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque and Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation in Old Delhi, and in New Delhi Rajpath and India Gate. Tonight, we enjoy a group Namaste dinner at our hotel.
Overnight: Delhi  |  Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3

Taj Mahal

Delhi - Agra. Departing Delhi, we make our way to Agra, the erstwhile capital of the Mughal empire. Our first stop here is the impressive Agra Fort, which boasts some of India's finest Mughal buildings behind its fortified walls. Later we travel on to the legendary Taj Mahal. Built by the order of Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century in affectionate memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz, the Taj Mahal is perhaps one of the most extravagant monuments to love ever built and has no peers.
Overnight: Agra  |  Breakfast

Day 4

Fatehpur Sikri

Agra - Jaipur. En route to Jaipur we visit the ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, which has been deserted for over four centuries after it was allegedly abandoned due to a lack of water. Thanks to the very durable red sandstone from which it was built, Fatehpur Sikri still remains well-preserved and is a fascinating place to explore. Later we drive to Jaipur, the bustling capital of the state of Rajasthan. The rest of the day is free for you to spend at your own leisure.
Overnight: Jaipur  |  Breakfast, Lunch

Day 5

The Pink City of Jaipur

Very early this morning there is the opportunity to sail over the lofty hilltop forts and regal palaces of Jaipur in a hot air balloon, on our Balloon Over Jaipur Bolt-on. We then travel beyond Jaipur to the stunning 16th century Amber Fort, reaching its summit by jeep, where we enjoy a tour of the fort's well-preserved interior and grounds. Later we visit a cotton weaving house to see a demonstration of fabric dyeing and block printing before touring the City Palace and Jantar Mantar - an old yet cleverly designed space observatory.
Overnight: Jaipur  |  Breakfast

Day 6

Village life, rural India

Jaipur - Alsisar. Today we drive to the semi-desert Shekhawati region, which lies in a triangular area between Delhi, Jaipur and Bikaner. The small towns in this region were once important trading posts, and today their legacy is carried on through the beautiful painted havelis that were constructed by wealthy merchants here in the 18th and 19th centuries. Later we enjoy a walk through a local village and time to relax.
Overnight: Alsisar  |  Breakfast, Dinner

Day 7

Alsisar to Delhi

Alsisar - Delhi. This morning we make a quick visit to the children and teachers at a local school in Alsisar (if open) where we operate our ‘Change for Children’ programme, before returning to Delhi. The remainder of the afternoon and evening is free for you to further explore the city. Opt for a meal in the heart of the city or simply relax and chat with group members at the hotel.
Overnight: Delhi  |  Breakfast

Day 8

Delhi

Saturday. Touring arrangements come to an end after breakfast. Hotel check-out and included onward departure transfer to airport.
Breakfast

Discover Amritsar & the Golden Temple

Discover beautiful Amritsar, home to the world famous Golden Temple and the seat of the Sikh religion, on our 3 day/2 night Golden Amritsar bolt-on. Built in 1803 and made of marble, copper and pure leaf gold, the temple is an amazing architectural feat. During your stay, we witness the sunset spectacle at Wagah Border - the only road crossing between India and Pakistan where the fascinating changing of the guards and ceremonial lowering of the flags take place with great pomp to a cheering crowd of thousands.

I had an amazing time on the Taj Express tour - the tour was the right balance between sightseeing and free time to enjoy the cities yourself or relax around the pool.

Our guide Yusuf Khan was fantastic - he had so much knowledge of each site & city we visited and was always happy to answer any questions or help us if required.

I had never been on a group tour before so was a little unsure if I would enjoy it or not but my tour exceeded my expectations.

I would be more than happy to recommend On The Go tours or book another On The Go tour for myself in the future.

Thank you for the wonderful time away in India!!

Cheers

Jacqui

The tour was amazing and it was all thanks to Vansh. His attention to detail and his ability to get on with all ages, answer questions and ensure that everyone was having the best holiday, was second to none. Vansh went the extra mile for members of the party, ensuring that their needs were met and he was able to deal politely with the locals who wanted us to buy souvenirs and show us their skills. We felt that Vansh brought the group together and the experiences we had through him will live with us forever.

The Taj Express was fantastic right from the start and exceeded all of my expectations. It was a wonderful taste of India and our guide Vansh was just brilliant. No task was too much for him and his number one priority was our enjoyment, safety and comfort. Vansh has a great sense of humour and interwines this with speaking about the history of various areas in India that the tour visits; he was very engaging and did everything with a smile on his face. Our bus driver and assistant were fantastic as well and the tour was so well organised and everything ran seamlessly. The quality of the hotels was great as well and a highlight of the tour for me (aside from the Taj Mahal of course!) was our stay in Alsisar and visit to the local school. I cannot recommend this tour or On The Go highly enough!

Our initial tour of India was fabulous. Vansh explained the culture, history and current way of life brilliantly and brought the country alive. Vansh was extremely helpful, sorting out issues any one of us might have and going way beyond what I'm sure is expected of him. He found pharmacies, plug adaptors and ATM machines. Thank you very much Vansh!

Hi Sarah

I wanted to thank you for all the advice and info that you gave us before our On The Go trip and for the amazing operation that your organisation runs. We had such a wonderful trip to India and thoroughly enjoyed the tour which brings together wonderful like-minded people of all ages for a wonderful experience.

I need to give a special mention about our guide, Yusuf Khan. Yusuf is a real gentleman who is a wonderful ambassador for On The Go and India. He has an incredible amount of knowledge, is professional, warm and welcoming, and made a really concerted effort to make our trip really special and memorable. We would like to highly recommend him as he is excellent. We had to leave the group before the end and never got a chance to thank him in person on the final morning. Please thank him sincerely on our behalf.

Thank you once again. I look forward to booking further exciting adventures with On The Go in the future.

Wishing you a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with everything of the very best.
