With reliably good snow throughout the winter months and a stunning setting in the Himalayas, Auli is India's premier ski destination. Located in the state of Uttarakhand close to the religious shrine of Badrinath, Auli sits at an elevation of 2,500 - 3,050 metres above sea level looking out across to Nanda Devi, India's tallest mountain peak. The skiing season runs from January to March and offers gentle slopes measuring 5km in length as well as a 500m rope tow that runs parallel to the main slope, a chairlift between the upper and lower slopes and a state-of-the-art cable car linking the town of Joshimath with the upper slope.Read More
Auli is also a great destination in the warmer summer months when the scenery is stunning and hiking opportunities aplenty. Once the snows have melted the dark greens of the coniferous and oak forests that carpet the mountain slopes are revealed and hikers can enjoy incredible vistas of the Himalayan mountains.
