The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and the food, especially how it was made and where/how the ingredients were sourced. Couldn't have been more pleased with our short time in Bologna!”

If you enjoy food tours then this definitely a must! Be ready to eat plenty! I am Italian and the homemade pasta’s were exceptional. This is the place to experience the cold cuts and cheese. History of chocolate was very interesting. Also this is a beautiful University City. Thank you to our guide Elena!”

“
We were staying in Florence and decided to take the train to Bologna to see another town. It was a quick train ride on the high speed train and easy to find the meeting point of the tour. I would highly recommend this tour. Bologna is a great city with amazing food. Catia was our guide. She was terrific, full of information and her love of Bologna was evident in everything she told us about the City. The portions were quite large and the wine was generous.”

“
This was our first tour in Italy and by it set a high standard for all that followed! Our tour guide was well versed not only in the foods we would be tasting, but in Bologna history as well! She was an awesome story-teller and very descriptive of the foods we tasted, which included chocolates unique to Bologna, sliced meats and cheeses with bread and wine, pasta and wine, rice pudding, and gelato. We were full! And while we weren't left wanting any more food, I was certainly introduced to enough Bologna history that I DO want to learn more about Bologna. Highly recommend.”

“
Wonderful walking tour of Bologna. Not only do you learn about the history and traditional methods used in producing local products - you get to taste them as well. Tasting sizes are generous and locations allow you to rub shoulders with locals. In addition you learn about the history of the city from your guide. Our guide Catia did an incredible job - sharing her knowledge of food and history along with her passion for her city. Tip: if you're coming from Florence or Verona to take the tour consider taking an earlier train than the one recommended. Trains in Italy are notoriously late as a group of 8 on our tour found out - arriving half an hour late.”

“
This was an informative and fun walking tour of central Bologna in and around the market area.
It was a form of progressive lunch with 5 separate stops at high quality food establishments-apertivi, antipasti, main course ( pasta), coffee and gelati. Our guide, Micol, was good fun. Highly recommend.”

“
We loved this introduction to marvelous Bologna. With an emphasis on regional foods and a healthy dose of history this walking/noshing tour was perfect for us. The tour guide was both knowledgeable and very personable. She was also very accommodating for others who were running late without compromising the experience for the rest of us - all very professionally done. As our stay in Bologna lasted 3 weeks, we often returned to the places and shops on the tour. Excellent - don't change a thing! Only wish the Neptune fountain renovation had been completed for both visitors and locals.”

“
Our guide Cartia was passionate and enthusiastic about the food and history of Bologna, we had 5 different tastings on the tour - chocolate, antipasto, pasta, torta di riso and gelato. The portions were generous - it was like a progressive lunch with a couple of glasses of wine also included. We walked around Bologna learning about the local food and some of the history and buildings/landmarks. Our group of 13 was larger than I expected but we enjoyed ourselves very much.”

Fabulous!! The food was excellent, the quality variety and the amount of food and drink was impressive. Really well informed, enthusiastic and lovely guide who passed on interesting facts regarding both the origins of the food and the area. Would highly recommend.”

“
Our group was led by Micol who did a wonderful job. Be prepared - it is a lot of food! We started off at Majani chocolatiers for four samples. I went back later and bought some to take home. Majani has been at that location for over 200 years. Then we walked to the Quadrilatero and eventually ended up at a deli kind of place. I went back there for lunch a few days later. We had tagliere with cheese. This is cold cuts: mortadella a Bolognese specialty, salami, proscuitto, and cheese, served with bread. This alone was more than enough for a lunch. We also had a glass of wine. I opted for the local pignoletto frizzante. Then we walked to a pasta place where they make gorgeous yellow tortellini and other pastas, tarts, etc. We had a pasta course along with another glass of wine. I tried the still version of the pignoletto. Then we went to a bakery where we had rice flour cake samples. We were still not done. We finished at a gelateria. Along the way, we learned about some of the more interesting buildings and architecture, as well as about our food, including mortadella, balsamic vinegar, etc. We were able to walk through the market streets with the fruits and vegetables on display. I am gluten free and they had no problem accommodating that. I had risotto instead of pasta and a meringue cookie instead of rice flour cake. I learned a lot about local foods, picked up some history, ate some good food and had a good time.”

“
Great tour and would thoroughly recommend. Our guide, Catia, was fantastic. You certainly won't go hungry - there was chocolate tasting then a sit down tasting of hams and cheeses then followed a sit down lunch of pasta. Afterwards a tasting of sweet rice cake and then ice cream.”

“
Very enjoyable tour with Katia, Very knowledgeable about Bologna history and facts. Started out with chocolate as our first food stop! Sampled regional food at 4 other stops. Everything was good. Good tour for intro to Bologna history and food.”

“
This was a fantastic tour and we'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bologna. Our guide, Olga, was a real font of knowledge and she was extremely friendly and helpful, not just about the food aspect but also of the local history. My only complaint this is a joke is that we did the walking tour the next day with a different company and Olga had already told us lots of the history of Bologna so we'd heard a lot of the detail before :-”

“
Our tour guide, Catia, was a joy. She was very knowledgeable about the city and its history and enjoyed sharing her love of the town with us. This tour gave us details on the city, its rich history all woven around its love of food. I strongly recommend this tour!”
