Occupying a very privileged position right next to the mind-blowing Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, Bekopaka is a small town in what is a relatively isolated part of the country. With very little access either by air or by road, only the really determined make it to Bekopaka, which is both a blessing and a curse. The challenging nature of this town means that few people will get to experience the wonder of its nearby park but, on the plus side, those who do make it all that way will find that they have the national park almost entirely to themselves.

Travelers who want to make the most of their experience in the stone forest will have to walk along swinging rope bridges, clamber over jagged peaks and squeeze through narrow crevices as they make their way through the park. Yet, giant rocks aren't the only point of interest at Tsingy de Bemaraha. An uncommonly large number of endemic animals dwell within this reserve, including a variety of different lemurs, birds, chameleons, mongooses, iguanas and frogs. Keep your eyes peeled and who knows what you might spot.
