Day 2

Ouarzazate

Marrakech - Ouarzazate. We'll set off after breakfast, driving across the scenic High Atlas mountain range to Ouarzazate. Dubbed the "Hollywood of North Africa", this ancient fortress town was once a stopping point on the Africa-Europe trade route, and now houses the famous studios where films such as The Living Daylights and The Last Temptation of Christ were shot. Take an optional visit to the studios, try a quad bike excursion, or just enjoy some leisure time at this UNESCO-listed site.
Overnight: Ouarzazate  |  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3

Erg Chegaga & Berber Camp

Ouarzazate - Erg Chegaga. We travel south to the oasis town of Mhamid el Ghizane, breaking for lunch and a swim. An optional 1-hour camel ride through the Palmeraie oasis is also available. Leaving our minivans, we hop onto well-worn 4x4 vehicles for a 3-hour journey across the mighty Sahara to the Berber desert camp where we'll be staying tonight.

Nestled deep within the vast Chegaga sand dunes, the camp offers a taste of desert life. We arrive in time to catch the sunset, while dinner and the evening's entertainments are prepared for us. Have a go at sand surfing, before ending the night with Berber music around the campfire as the starry desert skies emerge.
Overnight: Erg Chegaga  |  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4

Desert Delights

Chegaga - Tafraoute. Our desert journey continues with another 3-hour drive through the dunes, even crossing an ancient dried-up lake bed, before arriving at the town of Foum Zguid. After stocking up for a picnic lunch, we'll make our way to Tafraoute, a hidden oasis at the heart of the Ameln Valley tucked away amongst the towering, rocky Anti Atlas mountain range.
Overnight: Tafraoute  |  Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5

Tafraoute

We'll spend the day in Tafraoute at leisure. Enclosed by the mountains, the oasis town radiates an aura of calm in an untouched setting. Various options are available - join a guided walk through Ait Mansour valley, rent bikes to explore the surroundings, or visit Les Roches Bleues (Blue Rocks), a striking 1984 installation by Belgian artist Jean Verame and local firemen.
Overnight: Tafraoute  |  Breakfast

Day 6

Towards the Coast

Tafraoute - Agadir - Essaouira. We say goodbye to tranquil Tafraoute, continuing through the Anti Atlas range to the town of Tiznit and onwards to Agadir. Situated on the Atlantic Coast, Agadir's promenade and beaches may seem a world away from our days spent in the Sahara and Tafraoute. After lunch, we follow the coastal route north to Essaouira, a lively coastal town and surfing hotspot surrounded by 15th-century Portuguese fortifications.
Overnight: Essaouira  |  Breakfast

Day 7

Essaouira

Enjoy a free day in Essaouira. All city gates lead to its enchanting medina, an 18th-century UNESCO World Heritage site packed with souks and workshops. Alternatively, soak up the sun on the beach, wander through the colourful cafés and art galleries, or perhaps try an exciting optional activity such as quad biking, horse trekking, or windsurfing.
Overnight: Essaouira  |  Breakfast

Day 8

Return to Marrakech

Essaouira - Marrakech. We return to Marrakech (3hrs drive) after breakfast. In the afternoon, there is the option of a guided city tour, or you can take advantage of the free time to buy some last-minute souvenirs. A farewell group dinner will be held in the famous Djemaa El Fna, Marrakech's main square.
