Blyde River Canyon - Kruger. Today we continue along the Panorama Route as we enter the lowveld and our next destination - South Africa's famous Kruger National Park - home to the Big Five. Our campsite for the evening sits on the border of the park - just a short drive from the entrance. Look out for hippo, giraffe, zebra and impala who may venture into the campsite.

Day 5

Xai Xai

Kruger - Xai Xai (Mozambique). We have an early start this morning as we begin our journey out of South Africa and into neighbouring Mozambique. It could be a long day today as we deal with border formalities so no activities are planned. Our destination this evening is Xai Xai - north east of the capital Maputo and home to some of Mozambique's stunning beaches.
Overnight: Xai Xai  |  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Days 6-7

Inhambane

Xai Xai - Inhambane. Continuing our journey today we head for the warm waters of the coastline to Inhambane and Praia De de Zavora Bay, once a well known ivory and slave trade centre. The beaches just outside Inhambane are well known by locals and holiday makers alike for their close proximity to various scuba diving reefs, and we'll have a full day here to take advantage of the marine life on display. Sightings include manta rays, whale sharks and turtles. Alternatively, explore the beaches on horseback or head into town to browse the busy market.
Overnight: Inhambane  |  Breakfast x 2, Lunch x 2, Dinner x 2

Days 8-9

Vilanculos

Inhambane - Vilanculos. Continuing up the coast we travel to Vilanculos - the stepping stone to the three main islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago. The islands are paradise on earth with clear turquoise waters, pristine white sand beaches, a plethora of colourful birds and fantastic diving and snorkelling opportunities. We spend two nights in Vilanculos so that those who wish to can take advantage of the optional activities on offer including chartering boats to the islands, sunset cruises, horse riding, big game fishing and more!

We have an included dhow safari on day 9 which allows us to experience the wonder of a traditional sailing boat of this region as we sail through the azure waters and pass the islands of Benguerra, Bazaruto and Magaruque.

Day 10

Bilene

Vilanculos - Bilene. Today we turn around and head back down south for our last night in Mozambique before entering Swaziland tomorrow. Our destination for the evening is Bilene, a quaint beach town on the Mozambique channel and famous for the Uembje Lagoon which separates the Indian Ocean with the touring sand dunes. Bilene is apparently the closest beach destination to Johannesburg.

Jackals and hyenas play their very important role in the ecology of the park. Reptiles are well represented, especially snakes, with a number of lizards, two species of tortoise and the Nile crocodile.
