Itinerary

Day 1

Cusco

Cuzco - Cloud Forest - Pilcopata (L/D) Begin your journey bright and early, departing Cuzco between 5:30 and 6:00 am for a scenic bus ride through the mountainous region of Paucartambo. En route, take the opportunity to visit the pre-Inca burial towers known as the Chullpas of Ninamarca. As you descend through the enchanting cloud forest, admire the beautiful orchids, exotic heliconias, and ancient ferns. Make a stop to observe the lively Andean cock-of-the-rocks, Peru's national bird. There's a chance you might also see other bird species like trogons and Amazonian umbrellabirds, or even catch a rare sighting of the spectacled bear, the only endangered bear species in South America. Conclude your day's adventure in the village of Pilcopata, where you'll check into your accommodation for the night.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, embark on a bus trip that will take approximately 45 minutes to reach Atalaya. From Atalaya, enjoy a 30-minute boat ride to the jungle. Once you arrive, settle into your accommodations and join a group walk to explore a variety of bird, insect, and animal species. For a thrill, participate in a canopy zipline adventure, soaring past stunning jungle vistas for around 20 minutes before abseiling 30 meters back to the jungle floor. This exhilarating activity lasts about two hours. You will spend the night at Paititi Lodge. Meals provided include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 3

Parrot Clay Lick-Machu Huasi Lake (B/L/D) Start your day early with a 30-minute boat ride to the parrot clay lick, where vibrant parrots gather to feed on the clay deposits. You’ll have the opportunity to see colorful species of parrots and macaws, as well as other wildlife, including frogs, turtles, and brown capuchin monkeys. Continue your adventure by exploring the trails around Machu Huasi Lake, where you can spot South American caimans and capybaras, the largest rodent species in the world. Immerse yourself in nature while observing the region's wild orchids, exotic bromeliads, ferns, and other flora before returning to your accommodation for the night.

Day 4

Hot Springs and Waterfalls (B/L/D) Start your day with an early breakfast before embarking on a boat ride along the Alto Madre de Dios River to reach the Aguas Calientes hot springs. On your journey, you'll have the chance to admire the beautiful scenery and observe wildlife along the riverbanks. Your first stop is the native community of Shintuya, where you can explore and learn about the local culture. Continue your boat journey to the Aguas Calientes hot springs. Here, you can unwind and soak in the relaxing waters before heading back to the lodge in the afternoon. In the evening, enjoy a night walk.

Day 5

Paititi Lodge-Atalaya-Pilcopata-Cuzco (B/L) After breakfast, you'll take a 30-minute boat ride upstream to the port of Atalaya, soaking in the final views and sounds of the tropical rainforest. From there, you'll transfer back to Cuzco. The tour concludes around 18:30, but the memories will last a lifetime.
