Itinerary

Day 1

Lima

Upon arrival at Lima Airport you'll be met and transferred to our joining hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. To get a feel for colonial Lima, take a cab to the Plaza de Armas and watch the changing of the Palace Guard at noon. Walk the streets surrounding the Jiron de la Union for great examples of Spanish-colonial architecture and to get a taste for life in a large South American city. Later this evening our group welcome meeting takes place.
Overnight: Lima

Days 2-3

Cuzco

Lima - Cuzco. A short flight high into the Andes over spectacular mountain scenery brings us to the former Inca capital of Cuzco, which means ‘navel of the earth’ in the language of Quechua. Enjoy an orientation walking tour of this enchanting city. With a mostly indigenous population, Cuzco is a fantastic place to see Inca architecture with massive walls and building foundations. Wander around the Plaza de Armas, dominated by the Cathedral and La Compañia de Jesus Church, and through the cloistered arcades housing fine restaurants, bars and shops. Explore the city’s amazing churches, colonial buildings, picturesque streets and the ceremonial fortress of Sacsayhuaman that overlooks the city on top a hill. For the adventurous, try our hand at white water rafting, horse riding, mountain biking or canoeing.
Overnight: Cuzco  |  Breakfast x 1

Day 4

The Sacred Valley

Cuzco - Ollantaytambo. We spend a full day visiting the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The Pisac ruins are perched on a hilltop with incredible views of the snow-capped mountains whilst the traditional Indian market of the same name is famous for its colourful atmosphere. Practise your bartering skills and pick yourself up some wonderful souvenirs. Continuing along the valley we reach the temple fortress of Ollantaytambo. Here, enormous Inca terracing is constructed on the side of a steep mountain.

If you are doing the Inca Trek to Machu Picchu, tonight you will stay in Ollantaytambo. If you are doing the Lares Trek or have opted to take the train to Machu Picchu, this afternoon, you will return to Cuzco where you will spend the night.
Overnight: Ollantaytambo  |  Breakfast

Days 5-7

Inca Trail

On day 5 we start the trek of a lifetime along the ancient Inca Trail. Day 1 of the trek is a relatively easy walk of 13km and will prepare you for the trail’s highest pass, Warmiwanusca, at a height of 4,200m! The name translates as ‘Dead Woman’s Pass’ and we’ll reach it by lunch time on the second day of our trek. After the high pass we follow the trail downhill as it winds its way along old Inca stairs. Trekking on the third day we visit the ruins of Runkurakay, Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca with an overnight stop at Winay-Wayna. We rise early the next morning for the final walk to Machu Picchu where we greet sunrise over the famous ‘Sun Gate’. Explore this fabled lost Inca city on your own or simply take in the magnificence of the place. Discover the cloud-shrouded ruins of palaces, baths, temples, storage rooms and some 150 houses, all in a remarkable state of preservation. On day 7 we visit the ruins of Runkurakay, Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca with an overnight stop at Winay-Wayna.
Overnight: Inca Trail (camping)  |  Breakfast x 3, Lunch x 3, Dinner x 3

Day 8

Machu Picchu

On the last morning of the Inca Trail Trek, after an overnight stop at Wiñay-Wayna, you will rise early for the final walk to Machu Picchu and greet daybreak over the famous “Sun Gate”. There will then be time to explore on your own or simply take in the magnificence of the place after your guided tour.

The Lost City of Machu Picchu was originally completely self-contained, surrounded by agricultural terraces sufficient to feed the population, and watered by natural springs. Located high above the fast flowing Urubamba River, the cloud shrouded ruins have palaces, baths, temples, storage rooms and some 150 houses, all in a remarkable state of preservation that will simply take your breath away.

After spending most of the day at Machu Picchu you have the chance to meander through the markets of Aguas Calientes before enjoying a scenic train ride back to the Sacred Valley where our transfer to Cuzco will be waiting.
Overnight: Cuzco  |  Breakfast

Day 9

Cuzco to Lima

Cuzco - Lima. This morning you will be transferred to Cuzco airport for your flight to Lima, also known as the "City of the Kings". Here you will be met and transferred to our hotel for one more night. You then have a free afternoon for last minute sightseeing and shopping.
Overnight: Lima  |  Breakfast

Day 10

Lima

Today our exciting adventure comes to an end. If your flight doesn't leave till later in the day consider some final sightseeing our souvenir shopping.
Breakfast

Inca Trail , Lares Trek or Machu Picchu by Train

If you have always dreamed of trekking the Inca Trail you will need to book your trip in advance (4 months is ideal) as the number of Inca Trail permits is limited to 500 per day. Booking early gives us the best opportunity for securing one of these permits.

When booking your tour with us we'll need your full name as it appears in your passport, date of birth, nationality and passport number. With this information we can then apply for a permit.

If the Inca Trail is unavailable, you can opt to hike the Lares Trek. With its breathtaking passes, glacial lakes and hot springs, this less crowded option, which also ends with a full day’s visit to Machu Picchu, is thought to be equally if not more spectacular than the Inca Trail. Alternatively you could also choose to spend your time in Cuzco and take a day trip to Machu Picchu by train.

Prices & Dates

Prices shown are per person travelling. 'Twin/Double' prices per person apply when there are 2 people travelling, sharing a room. The 'Single supplement' applies to travellers who would like the comfort of their own room (on all or many of the tour nights) and needs to be added to the 'Twin/Double' price. If you are happy to be paired up with another single traveller of the same sex on your tour, this can be arranged, thus avoiding the single person supplement.

Departure dates noted with a 'G' are guaranteed to operate. All other departure dates are guaranteed with a minimum of 4 persons.

When booking a trip that includes the Inca Trail, this section of the holiday can not be confirmed until an Inca Trail Permit is obtained. It is essential at time of booking that you provide us with your full name as it appears in your passport, date of birth, nationality and passport number. Once the permits go on sale for your Inca trek date, we will confirm within 72 hours. After your permit has been obtained we cannot make any changes to it what so ever. If amendments are required you would need to pay for the cost of a new permit.

Booking your holiday more than 3 months in advance greatly increases your chances of obtaining one on the 500 Inca Travel permits allocated per day.

If the Inca Trail is not available you will then be given options of hiking the Lares trek or visiting Machu Picchu by train.

The whole tour was fabulous and well organised. It started with the booking. Theo was very helpful and followed up with me many time. I was picked up at the Lima Airport by Enrique Palacios Guerra. He was very professional, helpful and had a very clean car. Each time he picked me up he was on time just as he promised even at 5:45am. He always helped me with my luggage. His driving was very professional and I felt very safe with him. Pedro met me in Lima. He was very polite and helpful. He explained how the whole tour would work and answered all my questions. He was flexible with his time which allowed me to take a city tour. I really appreciated that. Fabio was my guide in Cuzco. He was friendly and professional. He helped us find great places to eat that we would have never found on our own. He made it clear he was available to us for anything we needed at anytime of the day or night. He was always on time, happy and helpful. Santiago was my guide for the Inca Trail. He was GREAT!! He encouraged us from the start of the hike and throughout the 45 km hike. He made sure we were doing well and safe. He was great at explaining the history and meaning of each ruin. It was obvious he loved his job. The organisation of his whole team was amazing. I can't say enough good things about the 4 days spent hiking the Inca Trail. The treatment, the food and encouragement we received from Santiago, the cook and all the porters was unbelievable. Thanks to everyone involved in my trip.... Theo, Pedro, Fabio, Santiago, the cook and the 9 porters. I would highly recommend this tour.

HI ON THE GO!

It was another once in a lifetime holiday, thank you.

Macchu Pichu was magical, hotels, tour guide was well aranged. We have opted for the train and very happy about it. But the best part was the Amazon. The Lodge, the river and the forest was beyond imagination. The rooms had all the luxury but had no windows; gave the traveller the feeling of belonging to the forest like a parrot or a puma.

Thank you again for the ultimate experience.

Hope to join you again soon.
