About Cape Town

With Table Mountain towering in the backdrop and a coastline formed of stunning beach, it is little wonder why Cape Town is one of South Africa's most popular destinations. From the city, the rugged cliffs with their thick layer of greenery and flowers are clearly visible and create a dramatic landscape. The city itself, given its relatively small size due to it being barricaded in by the various mountains, is perfect for strolling around and, as you would expect with any thriving city, there are dozens of swanky eateries and cool bars as well as more chilled out food outlets and plenty of shopping options.

Of course, no trip to Cape Town is complete without taking in the views from the top of Table Mountain, which can be reached by cable car or on foot. For those looking for a more educational experience, the District Six Museum and Robben Island, the island prison which held Nelson Mandela for 18 years of his 27 year sentence, are fascinating centres and provide a lot of valuable information about the country as well as about the Apartheid that plagued its people for so long.

Just an hour from Cape Town are the Cape Winelands, another must for anyone visiting the region. Here you will be able to learn about the production process of the magnificent wines that are made here with the opportunity to sample a few. Following on with the outdoor theme, those who are less willing to stray too far from central Cape Town should definitely pay a visit to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for the Boomslang, a canopy walkway that goes through the gardens and affords incredible views.
