Stop At: The Alhambra, Calle Real de la Alhambra, s/n Palacio de Carlos V, 18009 Granada Spain

On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose.

Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and of the court of Granada in the middle of the thirteenth century, after the establishment of the Nasrid kingdom and the construction of the first palace, by the founder king Mohammed ibn Yusuf ben Nasr, better known as Alhamar. The fortress became a citadel with high ramparts and defensive towers, which house two main areas: the military area, or Alcazaba, the barracks of the royal guard, and the medina or court city, the location of the famous Nasrid Palaces and the remains of the houses of noblemen and plebeians who lived there.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Palace of Carlos V, Alhambra, Granada Spain

A palace that met all the comforts of the time for the emperor and his family, as the Alcázar, next to the Alhambra, Construction of the palace began in 1527 and financed entirely in 1957.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Nasrid Palaces, Calle Real De La Alhambra, 18009 Granada Spain

The habitual residence of the kings of Granada, their construction began at the beginning of the 14th century. The Nasrid Palaces are a palatial complex formed by three buildings: - The Mexuar is the oldest hall. It was employed for meetings between the ministers of the king and as a courtroom. - Next, we come to the Palace of Comares, which dates back to the era of Yusuf I. This dwelling was erected around the Patio de los Arrayanes (Courtyard of the Myrtles), and its side exits lead to the Sala de los Embajadores (Hall of Ambassadors) and the Sala de la Barca (Hall of the Boat). The Hall of Ambassadors is located inside the Tower of Comares. - The Palace of the Lions, dating back to the era of Muhammed V, is also a royal residence. It is composed of a central courtyard, the Courtyard of the Lions, and halls along each side, the Hall of the Mocarabes, the Hall of the Kings, the Hall of the Two Sisters, the Hall of the Ajimeces, leading on to the mirador Daraxa viewpoint, and the Hall of the Abencerrajes, along with the Harem.

Alberto was wonderful and we very much enjoyed this tour. He seemed to really enjoy his job and the location, and he was a wealth of knowledge. He was very accommodating to our questions. Be sure to bring photo ID. A highlight of our time in Spain!

Our guide, Gustavo, was excellent.incredibly well informed and made the tour feel special even though he does it day in day out. He highlighted parts of the buildings and the gardens that I am sure would not be noticed without such an expert guide. I can not recommend this tour and the guide any more highly than saying this is a must if you go to Granada.

Natalie was a terrific guide providing excellent information as we wandered through the site. She knew how to avoid the crowds allowing us to experience it all at a proper pace. By this time in our trip we were tired of group tours and crowded sites. This experience was a real treat!

Private tour with outstanding guide - friendly, extremely knowledgeable, fascinating cultural insights.

My family and I arrived about 20 minutes before the scheduled time of 9am for the private tour of Alhambra and Generalife by Granavision, and the guide, Alberto was there and the tour started immediately. Very good first impression. He spoke in excellent English. And was very enthusiastic about sharing the history and the numerous architectural styles of the Alhambra complex. During the tour through the gardens, Generalife, his well-versed knowledge of the various plants clearly showed through. The services provided by Alberto was excellent!

We thoroughly enjoyed our private tour of the Alhambra. Our tour guide, Beatriz A. I. was fluent in English and was very knowledgeable about the history and the myths of the beautiful Alhambra. With a private tour, Bea was able to engage directly with us and our teenagers, which kept their attention far better than any group activity we had tried. It was pricy but worth it. Well done.

At the top of our bucket list when we visited Spain in May was to see Alhambra (and Generalife). In reading some of the on-line comments from others who had visited those sites, it became clear that to maximize our time and the quality of the experience that a private tour was the way to go. In our entire two weeks in Spain, this was clearly the best spent money and experience we had. Our tour guide, Eduardo, was absolutely fantastic. In fact, ask for him when you book the private tour, because he was amazing. His English was flawless, his knowledge of the history, architecture, religions, cultures, plant-life was amazing. He is a professor when he isn't giving tours and it shows. He was patient, funny, and insightful. Having a private tour was ideal, because the Alhambra is massive and having someone who could answer every question and provide insights and information as we made our way around the site was almost essentiall. In fact, I can't imagine that the experience would have been remotely comparable without a private tour and without Eduardo. I would strongly encourage anyone going to the Alhambra to avoid the limitations of those pre-recorded headsets and the frustration of large tour groups, pay a few more dollars/euros, and do the private tour. And I would use Viator (their communication was outstanding) and Eduardo, because their tour and this experience was the highlight of our visit!

Fantastic tour of the Alhambra and Generalife gardens. Our guide was Guillermo Lopez and he was an interesting and knowledgeable guide, making the whole place come alive for our group of two adults and an 11year old.

We had an excellent tour through Viator. It would be virtually impossible for us to have gotten the same information on our own. The tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and his command of English was excellent. I will highly recommend to others.

Very informative. Our great guide Melanie explained the history of Spain and the Alhambra very well, which made the experience so much more meaningful. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and came out of our half-day tour richer and more appreciative of the Alhambra, it's history and its beauty.

We had a lovely tour guide called Conchi who made the tour interesting and fun. The Alhambra and Generlife is a must see and we are so glad we booked a private tour because as a party of 4 we were able to hear and see what was going on and it felt more personal. It is one of the few tours I would actually do again, the Alhambra itself is breath-taking.

Antonio provided insightful historic commentary for a delightful 4 hour tour. We learned so much while being mesmerized by one spectacular scene after another. He took photos of the four of us and we enjoyed seeing the shots he took himself. We appreciated visiting the Generalife in the cool morning and we enjoyed bypassing the lines as we moved from the gardens into the Alhambra. We all appreciated learning about the ingenuity of the design of the Alhambra and the significance of all of the water features. We all highly recommend taking the private tour as it gave us a very special memory of one of the most beautiful places in the world. We booked the tour over a month in advance we had heard that tickets sold out for any of the tours and it was true.

To really appreciate the history and symbolism of this remarkable place, the extravagance of a private tour with your own guide is truly justified. Our guide, Beatriz Arenas, met us at the office just outside the Alhambra and whisked us through into the Generalife and thence to the Alhambra complex. Bea told us it had been her childhood dream to work there and now she is living that dream and, through her passion for and knowledge of Spain's Moorish past, brings history to life for her visitors. She was very patient with our non-stop questions and had an answer for everything. A delightful companion on our tour, which was over all too soon.

We enjoyed an excellent guided tour of the Alhambra with Marie-Pax. She showed us every aspect of the Palace and explained every detail of the decoration of each building. The tour took 5 hours and we covered 6 kms during that time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and willingly provided all the answers to our questions. We had booked a private tour for 4 people and with this there was no queue or waiting, we went straight in with our guide who was waiting for us at the visitor's entrance. Otherwise the queue waiting to buy entrance tickets was very long. The gardens which are part of the Alhambra grounds are kept well tended by 600 gardeners. There are many gardens to visit, some with fountains and long lengths of water reflecting the blooms on either side. We had a memorable visit and are so glad to have had the opportunity to experience the Alhambra for ourselves.

Wow! Private tour was the way to see Alhambra. We booked through Viator in Canada and we didnt have any issues. Our knowledgeable and handsome guide, Asier, was an excellent story teller providing us with a wealth of information on history, architecture, and life in Alhambra. The tour was surprisingly very relaxing, not rushed, and super enjoyable. Thank you for making it an unforgettable experience! Eskerrik asko Jerry and Dorota from Canada and Iwona from Poland

This was my second trip to the Alhambra and Generalife did the skip the line tour last summer. Have to say that the private tour was even better than I expected! My family and I thought it was amazing with the more in-depth knowledge and information that our guide provided. Antonio was the perfect host who - he made us feel like close friends and treated us like royalty! I will be back in the future and it will always be via the private tour.

This tour was fantastic and worth every dollar. We took a private tour and Sergio was our guide. He conducted this tour with enthusiasm and a fantastic knowledge. The tour was undertaken at our pace, that is, we could look, linger, ask questions and take photographs at a comfortable pace. Sergio was extremely accommodating and happy to answer all of our questions. Even the more technical and obscure questions my husband can often pose. An astonishingly beautiful place, made all the better by our guide. I can't praise him enough. Hint: go early in the morning to avoid the intense heat.

Jeny is a perfect guide. My wife was pregnant, Jeny adapted to our speed, explained everything and answered to our questions. This private tour is highly recommended for those who doesn't want to stay in long queue.

We cannot say more about the wonderful experience we had during our private guided tour of the Alhambra and Generalife. We had travelled a long way to see the Alhambra we reside in the US but had come to Andalusia from South Asia, and the private guided tour was perfect for us. Our guide, Beatriz Arenas, is incredibly knowledgeable of the Alhambra and its history, and is continually trying to expand upon her knowledge base, be it from spending time with the archaeologists, or learning from some of the gardeners who have taken care of the Generalife for generations. The dedication is admirable and it shows. She was also very patient, answered all of our questions, and knew the best places to take pictures. This tour and the Alhambra was the highlight of our trip to Andalusia and was well worth the money. If you can, request Beatriz Arenas for your guide, you will not be disappointed!
