First stop:

An authentic Asturian bar, frequented by Spaniards of every age and description. A great place to kick off the evening trying their specialties of cabrales (blue cheese), chorizo and cider, which is poured in a very original way!

Second Stop:

A typical, very traditional "fino" or Sherry bar. This hostelry has changed very little in the last century with standing room at the bar or seating at wooden tables at the back. The bar is complete with the authentic oak sherry casks. "Fino" and "Manzanilla" sherries of various hues and tastes are served by the glass or from bottles filled directly from the kegs. Drinks come with complimentary olives or bread sticks.

Next stop:

This intimate local bar gives you a real taste of Madrid, with bulls' heads on the wall set off by various football shirts, and sawdust on the floor where locals deposit their olive pips before a final clear up at the end of the night. On the bar there is a huge selection of "tapitas" and "pinchos" (similar to canapes). Beside the bar is a model ship full of prawns which are usually provided as your complimentary "tapita" with drinks.

Final stop:

A very popular bar/restaurant serving wonderful "tostadas" and great salads, meats, cheeses and Tapas. This is a fantastic eatery with very good quality, no nonsense food and a great atmosphere with orders being shouted from waiter to waiter to bar to chef!

After this the night is yours! With the largest density of bars and restaurants per square meter in Europe, Madrid is famed for its vibrant nightlife. Even at 4 o'clock in the morning the streets are teeming with revelers, some only part way through their night out, others going to partake of the traditional "chocolate y churros" (gloopy hot chocolate and deep-fried doughnut twists) before bed. Madrid is not a place to sit back and watch the world go by, but rather somewhere you should throw yourself into the melee!

We had a fabulous experience in Madrid with our guide Charlie. When we arrived in Madrid we had no idea where to go for tapas and drinks. Charlie took us to 4 places and they were all tasty and unique. Charlie filled us in local etiquette such as tipping Overall, top notch tour with great food and drinks. We highly recommend this tour.

The tapas tour was great- only recommendation would be to suggest people have 20-25 euros per person for drink and food after first bar- was not clear on the description that we would need to pay 20-25 additional euros during tour. The description read as one drink and food per bar would be covered and anything over one drink and food per bar would be individual responsibility

Did this tour the day we arrived from the US and we were afraid we would be tired but it was so much fun that we didn't even think about being tired. It was so very informative. Our guide told us so much about the city itself, not just about the food and wine, but the food and wine were definitely the highlight! He was fantastic.

Thomas our guide was wonderful from start to finish! He really knew the city and the best spots to go for local food and drinks, and he was attentive to our every need. Also, he was very knowledgeable and funny so we were learned a lot and we were entertained. I definitely recommend this tour for anyone who likes to get to know a city, its layout, culture, food, and wine from a local perspective.

We had a lovely group of people to join us in this adventure. If you do not like to try new foods, this might not be the tour for you. We were encouraged to eat the specialty of each restaurant we went into and Ivan made sure we had a variety of types of food from many regions. He also gave us a wonderful walking tour and pointed out interesting facts and offered tips on places to come back to. As stated in other reviews, the first tapas and cider/wine is part of the tour and paid for. The next three are paid for by the participants. Everyone threw in about $25 euro each and this covered everything. For all the food and drink, I think it was very reasonable plus it was excellent company. We happened to go on a Saturday night so the city was full of excitement. We parted ways with most of the group but Ivan walked with my daughter and I along with two other American students and safely got us to a nice club. He had a friend help get us in and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This little extra gesture made our trip even more special and it’s what got the 5 stars! Thank you!

Loved this tour. James was a great guide and so knowledgeable about Spain, Madrid and the tapas culture. We had a small group and all got to know each other well. I thought this tour might drag given the late finish but it went really fast due to James and the other people on our tour.

This was great!!! Our guide, James, an expat Scot was fantastic. He was funny and above all--very informative about Madrid. We ate so many different tapas 10-15 at least plus sidra and wines. I can't begin to say how much fun we had walking around Madrid seeing Madridlenos enjoying their traditional evening entertainment of stopping at bars, socializing, enjoying great food.

This was an excellent experience and definitely worth doing. Unfortunately it was torrential rain which could have spoiled it completely 3 people didnt turn up because of the weather but our guide, James, made it a good night. He had a loud deep voice which meant that as we walked along we could hear him clearly. The tapas ordered was varied and ,although I personally didnt like it all, was great to give it a go. James pointed out a number of things that we certainly wouldn't have found out for ourselves about traditions etc. We visited 4 places and sampled different foods in each one. Only the first stop price is included in the price but James organised food and drink in the other 3 and we all put in enough money to cover the cost. This suited us and worked well and wasnt expensive. We manage to find our way back to one tapas bar for our last evening and got great food!!

This was the most fun that we had in Madrid. Our tour guide Miriam was THE BEST. She paid close attention to every person in the group, made sure that everyone was comfortable and being served what they wanted when they wanted it. Our group was a very nice size - 11 persons - and every one was so great - we had time to chat and learn about where everyone was from, where they were headed next, etc. It was a great social event, but even more so, Miriam taught us about North and Southern Spain, how the food and drink in each place differs, how to be aware what type of bar we were in and how to order accordingly, etc. She brought us to places that we would have never thought of to go, and had us try food that we would have never known to try. We LOVED it and stayed out past the final stop, our guide had to head on her way long past her required job time! and we had the extreme privilege to enjoy time with one of the couples on our tour the next evening whilst we were both still in Spain. We made friends that we hopefully will keep forever! A WONDERFUL introduction to Madrid's city center. HIGHLY recommended. Miriam was the BEST.

James was the best possible guide we could imagine for this fun Tapas Tour in Madrid. Do it your first night there so you can get a culinary overview of all the possibilities in this beautiful city. With 7 people total we were able to socialize, relax and enjoy great wines and tapas

A big part of my first and so far only trip to Spain's success can be attributed to our guide Miriam, a native who led us on a brisk, informative, and fun tour of some tapas bars in and around the Puerta del Sol. As a novice solo traveler, I knew joining a group for some activity would be recommended, and I was not wrong. The walk from one bar to the next were easy, even in the crowded streets, with occasional stops to admire landmarks or ask questions. Even if a bar was not expecting our party, the nature of each place was such that a group of 10 people was easily accommodated, and very quickly fed and served drinks. All of which was delicious and reasonably priced. The price of the tour included drinks and tapas at our first stop, and then we each pitched in 20 euros at Miriam's suggestion to cover the bill for the rest of the tour. So affordable! And so much fun. I definitely plan to do this tour again should I return to Madrid.

So glad we picked this tour! Our guide was from the UK but showed us Madrid like a native. So worth it!! Long night but you won’t realize it until the night is over.

My friend had warned me Madrid might not be great for a single traveler since everyone goes in groups. Whether or not he was right, this was a great way to do tapas my first night in Spain. James our guide made it great by getting everybody introduced. Lots of food and drinks. Very much worth it.

Great tour with a wonderful guide who took us to 4 tapas bars from the different regions of Spain. The price included the first bar and then we chipped in 20 Euros each to cover the remaining bars. We had enough to cover all and some to spare. I highly recommend the tour for those who want an introduction into this culinary adventures of Madrid.
