Itinerary

Day 1

Colombo

Welcome to Sri Lanka! You will be met at the airport on arrival and transferred back to your hotel in Colombo where you have the rest of the evening at leisure to explore this amazing city before our tour starts tomorrow.
Overnight: Colombo

Day 2

Kitulgala

Colombo - Kithulgala. Our morning begins with a sightseeing tour of Colombo taking in the Fort area in the north of the city, as well as the stunning Gangarama Temple. We’ll end the tour with a stroll along Galle Face Green, a popular spot for kite flying and games of cricket amongst the locals.

This afternoon we depart Colombo and make our way to our Eco lodge in Kithulgala where we swap our bus for bikes and cycle through the scenic countryside to the Belilena cave. Here we take time to explore the cave located up a steep path with breathtaking views of rubber plantations and jungle, and now home to thousands of bats before returning to our accommodation for a meal together.

Day 3

Rafting and Canyoning in Kithulgala

We have adventure on our minds today. After a hearty breakfast we head to the Kelani River where we start our first activity of the day – white water rafting. Once we’re in our safety equipment its time jump onboard the rafts float down the river taking in the amazing scenery which was used in the Oscar-winning classic “The Bridge over the River Kwai”. We cover 5 kilometers of minor and major rapids before returning back to the meeting point for some time to relax.

This afternoon we keep our feet on the ground in our canyoning excursion. Trekking through the jungle we pass natural rock pools for a spot of rock sliding and waterfalls until we reach the lagoon for some swimming before returning to our accommodation for dinner.

Day 4

Kinchigune Nature Trail

Kithulgala - Belihuloya. This morning we embark on the Kinchigune Nature Trail, a 6km trail that runs alongside the Riverine forest and Belihuloya River. We stop across paddy fields and local villages where we stop to meet the locals and learn about local agriculture before stopping for some lunch.

After lunch we make our way to the Samanalawewa Reservoir, surrounded by rugged mountains for an afternoon of canoeing. Enjoy a relaxed paddle spotting the hundreds of butterflies that live in the area, or to go the mouth of the river before we return for some dinner at the campsite.

Day 5

Horton Plains National Park

We have an early start this morning as we head to Horton Plains National Park. Set 2100 meters above sea level it is considered the coldest and windiest locations in Sri Lanka and home to an extraordinary number of flora, fauna and wildlife species. After a day of exploring the park, visiting the famous viewpoint Worlds end and taking a dip in Baker’s Falls we return to our accommodation for dinner and an evening at leisure

Day 6

Udawalawe National Park

Belihuloya - Udawalawe. We leave Belihuloya behind this morning and make our way to Udawalawe. After checking into our accommodation for the next few nights we embark on a jeep safari to Udawalawe National Park, home to over 400 elephants and the most reliable place to see these majestic creatures in their natural habitat all year round. We spend an evening exploring the plains through thick manna grass in hopes to see some of the other wildlife that reside here including wild pig, spotted dear, toque monkeys and the white bellied sea eagle before returning back to our campsite for a meal together.

Day 7

Udawalawe Game Drives

As we didn’t have enough time to see everything yesterday, we will return to Udawalawe National Park this morning to ensure we leave no stone unturned and get the most out of this amazing place. After returning to the campsite for some breakfast and time to relax, we embark on an evening game drive back to the park to see the nocturnal wildlife roaming the plains.

Day 8

Colombo

Udawalawe - Colombo. After our final early morning game drive we leave the Udawalawe National Park behind and make our way to back to the city of Colombo where we spend our day exploring at leisure. Watch an informal cricket game in Galle Face Green, walk around the noisy oriental bazaar of Pettah, or stroll through the Cinnamon Gardens or Independence Square.

Day 9

Colombo

Our tour comes to an end today with a transfer to the airport. We hope you enjoyed your holiday!
