This was my first on the go tour and I was impressed with the good organisation and standards of accommodation throughout. Our tour guide Akthar could not be faulted. His knowledge was impeccable and he was able to tweak the tour to make sure we had the best experience. He was always able give practical advice about where to eat, how to get there etc and on one evening gave up his free time to accompany some of the group to a restaurant frequented by locals. He was very particular about ensuring that all food stops and comfort breaks were "clean" and no-one suffered from any gastric problems at all. He was excellent in reading the group to maximise our enjoyment”
Akthar was an incredible guide! Very knowledgeable, highly professional and accommodating. I feel like Akthar made the whole trip for me.”
This was a good introduction to the country and we certainly fit a lot in. Our tour guide, Akthar, was exceptional. He was very knowledgeable about his country and gave lots of information about the real Sri Lanka. He managed to keep the group organised and was on hand if any issues arose. I would certainly travel with on the go tours again in the future.”

With eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites that comprise of remarkable ancient cities, archaeological ruins and beautiful nature reserves home to exotic flora and fauna, Sri Lanka has many attractions to choose from and here's some of our favourites to get you started.
This UNESCO-Listed cave temples of Dambulla are some of the best-preserved and most impressive in all of Sri Lanka, and it’s not difficult to see why. Dambulla is made up of five different caves, each one of covered with wall to ceiling mural paintings and scattered with statues and sculptures of Buddha on a mountain overlooking the verdant plains.
A huge white expanse of sand framed by swaying palm-trees on one side and a beautiful turquoise sea on the other, it doesn’t get much better than Kalutara. Whether you want to snorkel, learn how to surf or simply kick back, relax and top up your tan, this is the place to be. Located on the southwest coast, Kalutara can easily be combined with the island's national parks.
Kandy is a scenic city surrounded by lush vegetation with a delightfully cool temperature, which acts as the perfect antidote to the heat of the coast. In the centre of the city sits the dazzling lake, looking more like a decoration than a part of nature. Kandy is popular among travellers for a number of reasons, one of which is the Temple of the Tooth Relic, wherein lies the sacred tooth of Buddha.
Tea is one of Sri Lanka’s biggest exports and they sure are proud of it. Witness tea pickers harvesting the crop and enjoy a cup of delicious pure Ceylon tea in the factory of the Nuwara Eliya tea plantation. Once a colonial favourite, this attractive town is a charming confluence of old world England and modern day Sri Lanka surrounded by picturesque hill country.
Perched 370 metres above verdant jungle, the mysterious remains of this 5th century granite rock fortress are well worth exploring. The summit of Sigiriya is accessed by a steep staircase that climbs up the side of the rock, with a collection of Heavenly Maiden frescoes which can be seen en route. The top affords spectacular views of the jungle below and mountains in the distance.
Go wild on a jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park, home to elephants, deer, wild boar, buffalo, jackal and much more. Home to over 400 elephants, this is probably the best place to catch a glimpse of a Sri Lankan elephant in the wild with the transit home for baby elephants in need of some extra TLC, plus there are sloth bears too.
