It's not every day you get to see a pack of lions lounging around up above your head. Dar es Salaam Highlight - Web Ready Proper

Dar es Salaam

The buzzing metropolis that is modern-day Dar es Salaam is often by-passed, as visitors to Tanzania beeline straight to the national parks for some game viewing. However, for those who take the time to become acquainted with this rapidly expanding city, the rewards will be great. Skyscrapers tower down over colonial buildings that, despite being overshadowed in a literal sense, haven't lost their former grandeur. With the seaport here being one of the busiest in all of Africa, and the population ...

Serengeti National Park

The most famous and largest of Tanzania’s national parks is the UNESCO-listed Serengeti. The Serengeti ecosystem extends beyond the National Park to include several other conservation areas and reserves, including the Masai Mara in Kenya. Much of the landscape is made up of vast open savannahs peppered with magnificent acacia trees and a number of small rocky hillocks, making the scenery here some of the most outstanding in the country. It is through these extensive protected areas that ...

Ruaha Highlight - Web Ready

Ruaha National Park

With vast open plains of savannah sprinkled with watering holes and hundreds of different trees and bushes, Ruaha is one of the largest and most exciting National Parks in Tanzania. Yet, despite its size, this natural wonder has a surprisingly low footfall, seeing only around 6,000 visitors per year due to the fact that it is relatively hard to access. The result of this lack of tourism is a much more pristine landscape without the crowds and noise of some other parks. Throughout the park and to ...

Selous Game Reserve

UNESCO-listed Selous Game Reserve is the largest game reserve in Africa and covers 55,000 km², four times the size of Serengeti and more than 5% of Tanzania’s total area. Aside from the fascinating wildlife, the park has an incredibly diverse selection of flora ranging from dense thickets of vegetation to undulating hills sparsely and ...

Tarangire Highlight - Web Ready

Tarangire National Park

With the permanent Tarangire River flowing through it, the Tarangire National Park becomes a sanctuary to a vast array of different animals during the dry season as they flock from all around to this reliable source of water. Throughout this period the sun beats down on the arid land baking the dirt a dusty red colour and drying out every blade of grass until it is nothing more than a brittle wisp. As one of the less popular parks in Tanzania, the flora and fauna that reside here have remained a ...

The men in red

When you think of tribes in Africa, there is certainly one tribe that stands out more than most – the famous Masai tribe. Adorned with (usually) red blanket robes, carrying wooden sticks to help herd their cattle and jumping higher than most humans! A visit to a traditional Masai village gives a great insight into their way of life, their important traditions and you can also see if you can jump as high as them (well the men can!)

Spotting leopard in the Serengeti

Most people say that seeing a leopard on safari is one of their favourite moments of any trip to Africa. The Serengeti is certainly one of the better places to spot them. High up in the trees these ambush predators don’t make life easy for keen leopard spotters – but it makes actually sighting one all the more worthwhile.
