This was one of the best experiences that I have had in Thailand! I love the spirit of the chef and her beautiful family! We made some delicious food and laughed the whole time. She picked us up that morning, then we went to the local market and picked up our fresh ingredients. We then headed to the main kitchen where she had a garden in front of her house where we pick fresh ingredients once all of the prep was done we proceeded to cook. The food was so delicious and she was so informative I will definitely book her every time I visit Phuket!!!!! 🙏🏽🤗💪🏾🇹🇭

We had a wonderful time learning how to make home made Thai dishes. Karn arranged for transportation from our hotel in Kamala. She met us at a local market and showed us how to select the produce for our class. She emphasizes making the cooking easy on yourself and adjusting the flavors to your liking. She's a great host/cook/teacher and we had a lot of fun. We made green curry learned how to make the paste which is one of the main reasons I selected Karn's class, Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai, and Mango Sticky Rice with Coconut sauce. All were awesome and can't wait to make these at home.

The key is in the name Easy Thai Cooking, and it's clear that the intent is to ensure you can make the dishes again once you get home. The morning starts in the local market where we got shown how to select the fresh ingredients and honestly what some of them were. Then a series of demo's then practice on preparation for each of 4 dishes, followed by cooking demo then practice. The other piece of wisdom was You Eat What You Cook, So Adjust as you Want. One other thing I really liked is that a few times were were explained what the traditional way was to prepare something, and then told what the easy way was with contemporary kitchen equipment. We made spring rolls, pad-thai, Green Curry and mango sticky rice. This was a fun activity for both my wife a capable cook, and me I'll just say, less skilled, so anyone can do this and enjoy themselves.

Fabulous experience. Kaan picked us up from our hotel in Karon Beach in her lovely car and drove us to her spotlessly clean cooking school. We were the only two people for that particular class. We stopped along the way to buy fresh ingredients from a local market and also fresh coconut milk from a little factory. We cooked Tom Yum soup, green curry making the curry paste from scratch, pad thai our favourite! and sticky rice with mango. Kaan was just so lovely, very helpful and had a great sense of humour. We ate our dishes for lunch and had the pleasure of sharing them with a couple of members of her family who were visiting. After the class Kaan drove us to Patong and dropped us at the shopping mall which was an extra bonus. A really fabulous experience and the highlight of our trip to Phuket. Highly recommended to travellers of all ages - we are both in our 70s!!

This was such an amazing experience. We were the only 2 people on this tour and our guide still ran the tour. She was absolutely fantastic with a private pickup from our hotel and then stops at two local markets to purchase all of the ingredients for our cooking. Then we proceeded to her kitchen where she provided bottled water, a recipe book which we were able to take home with us, along with hands on instructions on how to make several authentic Thai dishes. The food we made was absolutely amazing and my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. To top things off our guide even had to go boxes ready so we could take our leftovers of yummy Thai food back to our hotel to enjoy over the next few days. This was an absolutely phenomenal tour and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Phuket.

I would highly recommend this tour!! The lady who delivered the class took us around the local shops for ingredients and also plucked some plants directly from her garden!! She made the course fun, friendly and unforgettable. The portions were great, the kitchen was clean and the food was amazing!

Brilliant half day cooking class plus lots of extras. Karn was a lovely host who spoke excellent English she also speaks Russian and Chinese !. First we went shopping in the local supermarket for ingredients and then to get some coconut milk - made as we waited and ate some lovely little pancakes. Then to Karn's home for the class. Before starting to cook, Karn showed me the herbs and other plants in her garden and we picked some for the dishes. She also made me a beautiful tea from blue flowers. The tea was a rich blue colour which changed to deep purple when I added some lime juice. As I did the Sunday class I got to chose my dishes which was great, being green curry with tofu, pad thai, fishcakes and mango sticky rice. Karn showed me how to make a green curry paste from scratch and prepare the ingredients for all the dishes, adjusting amounts to my taste - it was all so easy. The actual cooking was very quick, all done in a wok. We then sat down to some of the most delicious Thai food I've had and I'm not just saying that because I made it - haha. I got to take the leftovers with me and Karn drove me back to my hotel. I had such a great time, learnt so much and have copies of the recipes so I can make them again at home. Thanks Karn - I hope to learn more dishes with you when I return next to Phuket.

This was an excellent class! If you are a foodie and/or amateur chef like me then you will definitely appreciate the level of thought, care, attention and detail that goes into this class. The instructor Narn really does take a lot of pride in teaching this class, and really knows her stuff. It was neat to start the class off in a local thai food market, where Narn takes the time to explain to you what key ingredients are, look like, and which ones you should pick when making Thai recipes. Narn is committed to using only fresh, whole ingredients, and so all of the recipes that we made were with fresh ingredients with the exception of a chilli paste and shrimp paste - which obviously has to be fermented. We even got to see how fresh coconut milk is made and even get to drink fresh coconut water! This is definitely the best Thai food I've had, and it's cool that I was able learn from a legit, trained native chef. I wish I could have taken more of her classes, but unfortunately I booked this class the day before I had to leave Phuket. But if I had more time, I would've taken it at least three more times!

We absolutely loved loved loved this activity. Karn pronounced Garn is a National treasure! She is friendly and personable and has a great sense of humour. Her English is very good and she instructs really well. Her kitchen is situated in a local neighbourhood, so it was fantastic to see how / where the locals live. The place was very well laid out and comfortable. The trip to the market to buy our own ingredients was a great experience as it is where the locals shop, so that was a very nice touch. We were picked up and dropped off back at our hotel. The whole excursions was extremely well organized. The number of participants in the class is restricted to give you a very personal experience and one-on-one with the teacher. It is obvious that Karn has a passion for cooking and it is infectious! We would recommend this for anyone visiting Phuket.

This activity is genuinely interesting, and worthwhile! A van collected us from our hotel in Patong, picked some fellow students at another nearby hotel, then a 30min drive to the venue in between Karon Beach and Chalong... As we stopped we headed for a supermarket where we met our chef-teacher, and she started explaining all ingredients, names and quality, how to choose, what's what, and which ones to buy, in itself a good input for knowledge base... Galangal is one that remained in my memory, as she explained that it is of the family of ginger, but Galangal gives the food a Thai taste - i suppose ginger changes the taste to Japanese... We could also choose our drinks, which she explained, would accompany the dishes which we would cook, then eat... We went back to the van and another couple of minutes and we stopped at another place, where a man was grating fresh coconut and making fresh coconut milk, a key ingredient for our cooking... the fresher the more tastier the food... She also explained how fresh coconut milk had to be kept in certain conditions otherwise it would go off... Also how this freshly made milk differs from the bottled industrialised one... More knowledge base... We then walked from there to the venue, and on the way we stopped to pick up ingredients: i lemongrass, again which one was good, how to pick, its smell ii butterfly pea flowers for brewing tea iii and another grass-like-leaves that i don't remember now... A couple of steps and we were at the house... A long table in the middle of a wide room, on top of which there were 7 spots with little booklet with instructions, wooden boards with big sharp knives, for the seven of us...at the adjacent room you could see the cookers, at least 12 of them side by side, many pans and woks decorating the place. We were taught how to chop, size, shape, which one first, how much of the other ingredients, how to mix, which ones to blend, all the hints. We prepared 3 different plates with ingredients for our to-be-cooked-dishes: i green curry, ii prawn soup, and iii pad Thai. For me, who doesn't cook at all, it was a great relief to see that all steps were easy to follow and any-one-can-style... also another point was that you could measure and limit the hot chilly spices in the recipe... It took a long while to finish all chopping and mixing, and preparing... but finally all three platters with ingredients for the three dishes, individually, were ready to cook, and we moved to the cookers... We did green curry first, and it was literally less than 10min cooking... then we saved it on a plate, and went to cook the soup... this one also was super quick maybe another 10min... and finally pad Thai which was the quickest, i think it was not simmering for longer than 5 min! :- and all that was to do was eat! I was incredibly surprised how delicious it was! I could not believe that i did it myself! Although I am not sure if i will ever be able to do it all on my own again in future _ without the key hints from our teacher... But I had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend!

This is a great experience. We are a family with 2 children aged 14 and 11 and the cookery was paced at level which worked for the whole family. We went food shopping first of all and then to a local village where the cookery classes take place. It was a great set-up and the lady running the course was very informative and took lots of time with us. The course lasted about 5 hours in total from leaving our hotel to getting back Kata beach. We all really enjoyed it and the food was delicious and easy to make. Totally recommend this course for a great authentic Thai experience.
