Baltic Express
This add-on is a 4-day tour of Moscow and St Petersburg that can be booked in conjunction with our Trans-Siberian Railway journeys ending in Moscow.
Enhance your Trans-Siberian journey with the Baltic Express. From Moscow, whisk your way up to St Petersburg - city of tsars - crammed full of lavish palaces and museums, cafes and bars.
Day 1
Moscow - St Petersburg. This evening catch the overnight train from Moscow to St Petersburg. Overnight: Sleeper Train.
Day 2
Good morning St Petersburg! Beautiful St Petersburg is designed around a series of canals and rivers. Bereft of the Soviet breezeblock style architecture that characterises so many of Russia’s cities, the city is jam-packed with grandiose palaces and stately buildings. The world-famous Hermitage art collection at the Winter Palace remains St Pete’s top cultural attraction. The palaces and stately homes of the aristocratic tsars, Tsarskoe Selo and Peterhof are also worth seeking out.
Following some time to settle in, you'll be met at your hotel by a local guide and then taken on a walking tour of the city's key sights. Later your guide can either walk you back to your hotel, or you can remain in downtown St Petersburg to soak up the culture and atmosphere of the city. Overnight: St Petersburg. Overnight: St Petersburg.
Day 3
Free day to explore the city and surrounds. Most of the inner city sights are located on and just off the main thoroughfare Nevsky Prospekt that stretches for around 4 km from near the Winter Palace Embankment to Alexander Nevsky Monastery, so St Pete’s is good for walkers. Overnight: St Petersburg. (B)
Day 4
Arrangements end after breakfast and hotel check-out today. (B)
