Tour Reviews

He is a very kind well presented man, always ready to help. He has a great knowledge of Turkisk history . His English was perfect.

Overall it was a good tour. The tour guide was a bit brusque. He made offcolor jokes about women, I did not appreciate this. He also walked very fast and lost the group at least once a day. On 2 occassions a group of ladies could not find him At the farewell dinner they could not cross a busy street in Istanbul because of the traffic and the guide was gone. They found a shopkeeper that was willing to call Haydar and could get directions so they got to the dinner 20 minutes later. Another time in Cappadocia the could not find Haydar and arrived at the Goreme museum 20 minutes later and was asked to pay to get in because Haydar had already left. Another time at the Topkapi Palace he forged ahead of a Spanish tour group and lost the whole group, This quality to stay with the group is a must for any tour guide. i would not recommend the tour for this reason. It is inconsiderate as is the offcolor jokes about women. It does not take alot of effort to turnaround and check the group is still with you and slow down if you cant find them.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and a very pleasant person. His sense of humour was also very welcoming. We did however feel like the tour was hijacked to steer us into shopping situations that we weren't aware of when booking the tour. A whole day was lost when we were taken to a department store for an hour to buy their products exclusively and also steered into.a leather fashion show and encouraged/ hassled to buy their goods. We felt trapped and disgusted in feeling obliged to go into these stores. I can understand going to a pottery and textile place to see traditional goods and how they are made, but to be taken to places just to.shop infuriated us. Also our time at historical venues was shortened to make time for these shopping follies. We would have preferred more time at the Heropolis than the shops. My suggestion would be to make the shopping venues an optional extra and those not wanting to shop can relax at their hotel or extra time at more important sites.
