I highly recommend this Historical Walking tour of Edinburgh. We had a wonderful guide in Margaret Ann. She was knowledgable, informed, witty, and charming. She truly loves her city and communicates that love with her information, stories, and visual aids. We toured the historic closes, marveled at some remaining buildings that predate America by hundreds of years. Margaret Ann made the story of this city come alive and ended our tour at the top of the Castle where all of Edinburgh lay at our feet. It was a truly enjoyable and enlightening experience. Thank you, Margaret Ann

Great walk and learn experience. Loved the visual to identify the group and the visuals used to compare the history with the current Edinburgh. Lovely town. Great tour guide.

The tour guide did an amazing dynamic job at explaining the history of Edinburgh. The tour covered the important sites at a walking distance from each other. This tour is recommended for those who want to learn some history of the city.

What a fun and informative tour this was! I’ve been on many tours before where the guides just give the basic information in a boring way and felt I’d wasted my money. Our expert guide Linda not only had pictures of the people she was talking about, but she had the inside scoop on everything we experienced. The rich and detailed history was so valuable and presented in a fun way that was very memorable. Job well done Linda! Good idea to do this tour the first day you’re there!

Emma was very informative and did a great job. We did walking tour and then castle. Castle part is shorter and they let you go off to explore on your own, which we loved. Would recommend!

We really enjoyed our day with Eddie on the Wee Red Bus. The bus was new and clean and comfortable, and the visits were just the right length at each stop. It was a lovely complement to Edinburgh urban experiences. Eddie was engaging and talked just the right amount. He also brought his own “mix tape” of Scottish historical songs which we much enjoyed. Great day!

Eva was an amazing tour guide! so knowledgeable and professional. I like that this company gave us ear buds so we could hear everything Eva said no matter where you were standing. We learned so much about the Royal Mile and so happy we bought the skip the line tickets. The lines for tickets at the castle was huge!!

If you don't want to go straight up the hill to the castle, this is the tour you want to be on. It winds thru alleyways and such and by the time you get to the castle, you're not out of breath. Our tour guide was so enthusiastic, showed us many places and told us many facts that we could not have found out on our own. She was wonderful. The only disappointment being, we really didn't have much time at the castle (our fault as we had a ship to catch) and the fact that there were only 2 period buildings remaining at the the castle. Great military building honoring WWI veterans, but the royal building with the 'crown' jewels and royal apartments was a disappointment as most rooms were empty.

Our Tour guide, Simon, was amazing. You received a lot of information regarding on how Edinburgh was build and a lot of anecdotes about some of the buildings on the main street. The Tour ends in the Edinburgh castle: besides "skipping the line at the castle", you also have 45 minutes with the tour guide in the castle pointing out the main sights and again more anecdotes. As you entered the castle around noon, the castle is already very crowded, so we really appreciated to receive just enough information from the guide and we did not have to spend more time in the castle once the tour ended. While the tour was extremely good, if your goal is to visit the castle, do NOT take this tour. You should go to the castle when it opens rather and enjoy your time before it gets very crowded.

Our guide was efficient and narrated our tour well. No complaints whatsoever. We also were given sufficient time to wander around on our own after our guide departed.

This was a wonderful way to get a feel of the Royal Miles in Edinburgh and Rachel (Mercat Tours) was enthusiastic, knowledgable and a great guide. Seeing the architecture, hearling about the Closes, the history of the street and building and the Castle. Couln't see the Palance (Queen is residence) but saw Crown being transferred to Palance. Great tour, highly Recommended!

I would just like to say that Nicky our tour guide was amazing. She was so knowledgeable about the subject and made our tour an enjoyable experience. Some of the stories she told you would not of got anywhere else . I learned many things about the history of Edinburgh, prominent people and the architecture of the city. There was also a lot of humour involved. I don't normally go on historical tours but I am glad I went on this one. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.

A wonderful day to be had. The company was easy to find, organized and Charlie was definitely passionate about this city and his castle. It is a walking tour and understand that you are going to be walking up hill most of the time. Many things to see and understand about the city, the castle and the history of Edinburgh. Worth taking.

Linda was a fantastic tour guide, full of knowledge on old historical facts. Linda also provided information on the varied modern era items, movies shot there etc. We were in a large group and could hear clearly as Linda projected her voice loud enough for the people in the back. I would for sure suggest this tour
