Itinerary

Pass By: Trafalgar Square, Centre of the City, London SW1A England
Throughout the summer of 1887, much to the consternation of the authorities, the poor and the destitute of London had been congregating in Trafalgar Square to sleep rough in the open air.
By October this was being seen in official circles as a direct challenge to the forces of law, and order and the Home Secretary, Sir Henry Matthews, tasked Sir Charles Warren, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, with ensuring that the practice was stamped out sooner rather than later.
Pass By: Fleet Street, Fleet St, London EC4A England
Sweeney Todd, "The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" first came to prominence in the mid 19th century since when he has appeared in books, plays, a musical and in films. His gruesome story caught the public imagination yet again in 2008 when Johnny Depp played him in Tim Burton's film Sweeney Todd. But who was this murderous barber, and when, if ever, did he live?

During this period, a series of murders known as the 'Whitechapel Murders' took place; five women were murdered and brutally mutilated by a killer that was never caught. To this day, the identity of the killer remains a mystery, and well over a hundred theories exist today that attempt to lift the veil on the identity of one of history's most elusive murderers.
Wander the same dark, cobbled streets and alleyways as the Ripper's victims and visit the murder sites as our expert tour guide reveals the gruesome, horrific details behind their deaths and how the killer mutilated his victims in trademark fashion. Listen as our expert tour guide brings the history of 19th century Whitechapel to life and reveals an area gripped by fear and uncertainty.
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: Old Spitalfields Market, 16 Horner Square, London E1 6EW England
You'll also visit Spitalfields Market and the Ten Bells pub, where it is rumoured the killer visited and selected his unwitting victims from as they drank their troubles away.

Our guide on this tour was John. He is extremely knowledgable and a very passionate story teller. The tour itself was very good, but John made it even better. As an added bonus, we stopped for a small serving of authentic fish and chips. We highly recommend this tour!”

“
Our driver Nicholas and our tour guide Rhys were friendly and perfectly punctual for the beginning of our tour. Rhys is very knowledgeable on all aspects of the tour, from the short bus trip past some major historical points of interest and points of interest which are key to the story of the white chapel murders. The vox box system was perfect to be able to hear our tour guide as we walked the narrow darkened streets and the fish and chips was a really brilliant extra! Nicholas’ driving through the streets must be commended also, safety was high on both of the driver and tour guides agenda. Highly recommend this tour even if your not a “ripper” fan, you will be afterwards 😜”

“
This is an ideal tour for anyone interested in learning about not only Jack the Ripper, but life in 1880s London. As fans of the show Ripper Street, this was a must for us and the tour guide delivered! John was an incredible storyteller who made the past come alive through his detailed reconstruction of Jack's crimes. Highly recommend the tour company Evan Evans, the bus and John the guide!”

It was an amazing tour to all the spots of Jack the Rippers murders. John, our guide, was very enthusiastic and he showed a lot of knowledge of this topic. He even gave us general information on London's history. I would recommend this tour to everyone who is interested in the dark side of London's history.”

“
Our guide (I believe his name was John) was a Scottish man with great knowledge, quick wit, and impressive story telling ability. He had our attention the entire time, treated us to fish and chips, and overall made it easy to imagine what was going on in London, in the White Chapel neighborhood, in the late 1800s. I highly recommend this tour.”

“
Clearly a step above other operators. John was a fantastic guide and the service from start to finish made the tour relaxing and enjoyable. We saw other tour groups in the area and none used headphones to help hear the guide - this would have been a difficult tour without the headphones given the noise of the busy streets. It allowed us to take in the information and the humor while also keeping an eye on the surroundings.”

“
I can't say enough good things about John, the tour guide. We were on the Underground train when it broke down. Lucky for us, the train broke down at an underground station. We got off and ran outside looking for a taxi. Finally, after 10 minutes looking, we found a taxi. However, it was already after the 15 minute early check-in and we had 5 minutes before the tour started. We arrived at Trafalgar Square and ran up to the first tour bus we could find and asked for directions to the check-in area. As we were asking for directions, a gentleman, John, approached us with his tour, as they were trying to board the bus. He asked if there was anything he could do and I explained the situation. He asked if we minded waiting for a moment while he boarded his tour onto the bus and we obliged. While his tour was boarding, he approached us again and asked how he could help. He asked us what tour we were looking for and we told him, we were late for our Jack the Ripper Tour. He asked us our names and it just so happened, HE was our tour guide. He told us not to worry and that he would take care of everything and we could just board the bus for our tour. We were so elated!!!
The tour started online. John was full of so much knowledge regarding all things, Jack the Ripper and White Chapel. He was funny and gave in depth accounts of the horrors that occurred during this period. An added bonus was that he took us to a local Fish and Chips place Poppie's for the best fish and chips we, or anyone in our tour, have had. Also, this was INCLUDED in the price of the tour no other tours offer this on their tours. It was a nice reprieve halfway through our tour. I have already told many friends and colleagues about this amazing tour and John's profound knowledge regarding Jack the Ripper.
This was a gift to my niece, as she is a huge fan of gothic things, Jack the Ripper, ghosts, etc. and she is still talking about how amazing this tour was for her. Thank you John and Mo for such a great experience!!!”

“
What an amazing experience. We got way more than expected. The only concern we had prior to the trip was, did the guest houses have en suite bathrooms? we just booked it, not knowing, no one mentioned or complained about it on the prior reviews. turned out fantastic. the guest houses were all charming, warm and welcoming. The one couple who had chosen hotels were far away for the rest of us. so if you are undecided, the guest houses were fine. only one guest house i did not like, that was Kings Arms Hotels in Skye. The dang hotel was hot all the time unexpected warm weather we had maybe and wifi only in the lobby. so get your pajamas on, then go down to the lobby to do all your stuff... not comfortable. Other than that, rest were great, breakfasts were great too.
So, we packed for 50F, and rain. weatherman got this all wrong we had 70's and sunshine. sometimes hotter. I don't think anyone had summer clothes to wear. NOT complaining, and the weather sure made this trip way more enjoyable! Also, another two lucky things: we were to be a group of 25 on a larger bus. Something was wrong with that bus, so they split it. we got the small bus with Fergie. that was truly a blessing. he was so knowledgeable, told fantastic stories with drama, while driving, I know, right? how? They were so interesting, the bus was held quiet, so attentive when he told them. Then like little kids we would ask for more stories! He was great answer all questions, great at making sure everyone got what they wanted. OH, one thing that topped all was our first stop, somehow both my hubby and I heard the wrong time and we were exactly 30 minutes late. rather than leaving us there, they waited. could have been a different rating! totally our fault but thank goodness they were all kind enough to wait. so to recap, these three things made this trip perfect: the smaller group, the weather, and definitely Fergi. WE WOULD DO THIS WHOLE TRIP AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT, if you guaranteed those three things!”

The guide was very knowledgeable. The night of the tour was perfect for the drama being a cold and wet night. Engaged the group in every aspect and was able to impart the facts in a dramatic way. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, one I will definitely do again.”
