Please be advised that visa requirements are subject to change and that visa procurement is the responsibility of the traveller and not On The Go Tours. Please also ensure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your planned date of departure from Vietnam.
After booking your holiday, please provide us with your passport details as soon as possible so that we can proceed to book trains and flights tickets on your behalf, if included within your holiday.
COVID-19 - Temporary Entry Restrictions
For up to date information on obtaining a tourist visa and entry requirements for Vietnam, please check UK Foreign Office advice. This advice includes details of announcements and changes made by the Vietnam Department of Immigration in relation to entry and exit procedures and visa procurement.
Vietnam Visa Requirements
In March 2022 Vietnam reintroduced visa waivers British passport holders and most other EU countries. The visa waiver allows travellers to visit Vietnam for up to 15 days without needing to apply for a visa. For longer stays a visa will be required. Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, and USA passport holders require a tourist visa to visit Vietnam.
Applying for a visa
Travellers can apply for a 30 day tourist visa (single or multiple entry) from the nearest Vietnamese Embassy or obtain a 30 day single entry visa via the more convenient method of applying online for an E-visa. Processing time for an E-visa is 3 working days. The cost is currently USD$25 and you will receive your E-visa via email as an attached file. Please save the E-visa and show it to immigration on arrival in Vietnam.
To apply for an E-visa online go to: https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/web/guest/trang-chu-ttdt
A list of the 80 countries that obtain an E-visa is available on the above link. Here you will also find a list of ports that allow foreigners to enter and exit with an E-visa, these include Hanoi - Noi Bai International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City - Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Danang International Airport.
South African Passport Holders
South African passport holders must obtain a tourist visa from the nearest Vietnamese Embassy in advance of travel and pay a stamping fee directly to the embassy prior to travel. In order to obtain a visa from the embassy you will require an Approval Letter which we can provide, free of charge, if you book a Vietnam holiday with us.
Once your tour is booked and guaranteed to depart you just need to send a scanned colour copy of your passport and E ticket / flight booking to [email protected]. We will then apply for your Approval Letter from the Department of Immigration in Hanoi, which takes 7 - 10 working days. We will send the Approval Letter to you by email. Then you can apply for your visa from the Vietnam Embassy in Pretoria. Visit https://www.vietnam.co.za/consular-services/ for further information.
