We took the train up to Kuranda and Sky Rail. Both trips were exceptional. Walking around Kuranda was interesting. We were in the Gold Class which was great. Service of food and drink was very good

A brilliant day from start to finish - boarded the train at the station and we had paid extra for gold class enjoying beer wine and tasty nibbles for the 90 mins on board. The views were stunning from the train and a stop to see the waterfalls - we then disembarked in Kuranda where we had around 2 hours to see the market stalls and shops and we also went to see the Koala Park. Our trip back to our coach was down the cable car - a 45 minute journey over the rainforest - there are also a couple of stops where you can get off for pictures and back down to the coach park . A brilliant day and a must do if in the area

Fantastic day all round. Well organised and gold class well worth the extra cost as drink on arrival at station welcome. Service by Luke on the train and unlimited drinks and snacks made the fab views from the train a perfect day.

We booked the Gold Class and were really treated like royalty. It started with a dedicated waiting area, where we received a Mocktail. Upon boarding the train, we were shown to our luxury seats. The hostess was very attentive and informative throughout. Lovely food and drinks. The train journey is amazing. We had some time in Kurunda which is a lovely little town. The Cable Car journey was also an amazing experience with fantastic views. We stopped at both viewing points on the way down. A great experience, I would highly recommend booking the Gold Class for an extra special experience.

This was a lovely experience. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to take a leisurely train ride up the mountain.

We went up on the train and the service was excellent. Carriage plush, endless wine and a cheery hostess pointing out the viewpoints. The tickets only allowed 2 hours at Kuranda which was a bit short for us but helpful staff at the Skyrail phoned through to rebook us and reschedule our hotel drop off at the end of the day. Lovely memorable trip

This was a lovely day. Gold class on the scenic railway was just perfect and Vivian our on board hostess was just perfect. She pitched service and friendliness just right! Only criticism is too short a time to actually look around village and certainly no time to take on other attraction options. Transfer was excellent but we would hire a car next time so as to have longer there. All in all a very good day for those that may not want to drive themselves.

The Gold Class carriages are the way to go. Staff moved us so that we had window seats. Plenty to eat and drink. The views were great as the train wove its way up the mountain and through the many tunnels. Markets were fun in Kuranda and there was plenty to see and do. Cableway back down was ok with 2 stop off points. The view coming down looked across the mountains and down onto the top of the forest with a spectacular view over the coast on the final leg. Just a shame that the gondola windows were not clear/clean.

We really enjoyed this trip. We like being able to experience both modes of transport for the journey to/from Kuranda. Kuranda was also an enjoyable little town

This was a great excursion! I do think the Gold Class was worth the price difference especially given the day we went the train had problems and we had quite a delay. There was plenty of time to visit the butterfly sanctuary which was quite lovely as well as shop in Kuranda for those interested. My grown sons chose to hike...some of the trail markers were not correct not well marked, though, so be aware you might end up with views you already had when the train stopped. Don't just go to the GBR when in Cairns take this train ride and visit the village of Kuranda.

The scenic train ride was cancelled due to safety concerns. Hopefully Viator will give us a partial refund. The sky rail and rainforest tour was indeed marvellous. There had been a lot of rain previous day and the day we went so the waterfalls were spectacular. Overall this is a must do tour in Cains.

A fantastic tour! Be sure to book gold class, it is worth it! Bits to eat and plenty of drinks of your choice. Very comfy seats in gold class and be sure to pick up your free drink on the VIP-platform before you go. Kuranda itself is a bit overrated but the skyrail and train is awesome. We recommend to take the train with gold class ticket to Kuranda and skyrail on your way back. Everything worked out perfect even as we were caught in a thunderstorm and got delayed. The staff for skyrail and the bus company solved everything very quick and they are very serviceminded.

Love this day trip! The bus came right on time to drop us off at the Skyrail and he was hilarious way to make us break the ice! Once in the skyrail you get to see how beautiful Kuranda Rainforest is. Kuranda itself is such a beautiful little town, we walked around the shops, bought some souvenirs and also went to the Kuranda Koala Gardens, that is a MUST. It is not big but is totally worth it, you get to the obviously the koalas but also kangaroos just roaming free and other animals. A little nice surprise was that on the way back in the train they gave us free cheese platters, alcohol, even ice cream! that is just if you get the Gold Class though. Love this trip and the train is awesome!

This is an awesome and must see day trip from Cairns. This is not really a e cguided tour -- one gets picked up right near where we were staying and conveyed to the railway for the journey to the rain forest where you have free time to walk around and view sites and shop. Then one takes the cableway back down. The cableway stops at a view and walk point -- we were fortunate to time that to get a 15 minute park guide tour. Then we finished to cableway journey to the coast and were conveyed back to our start point. The Gold Class upgrade price for the railway is worth it.

Gold Class on this train is fabulous, lovely seating, informative staff and so comfortable, and lovely snacks too. Rainforest was fabulous and the Skyrail back was brilliant. Plenty of time to wander about and enjoy the scenery.

This is an unmissable trip for anybody visiting Cairns. We opted to take the scenic railway up and return via the Skyrail, but the reverse option is also available. As ever, the trip was impeccably managed by Viator, with our coach picking us up from our hotel right on time and taking us to the drop off point Freshwater Station in plenty of time. The Gold Class ticket on the charming train represented excellent vfm, as we were waitress served cold and hot drinks including alcoholic if requested as well as savoury and sweet snacks on the ascent to Kuranda. However, the real star of the show was the magnificent views we got along the way: absolutely breathtaking! We reached Kuranda in about 60 minutes and were genuinely sad to get off the train. Kuranda Village itself is a tourist trap, with souvenir shops, bars and restaurants as well as a number of attractions, including bird zoos and a koala zoo where people could have their photos taken with a rather tired and spaced out looking koala. Not for everybody, Im sure. In some places it was nothing shy of tacky and, overall, Kuranda Village was ok: by no means great and certainly not as good as the journeys to and from it. Our journey down was via the Skyrail, a long cable car ride above the canopy of the rainforest. A very different aspect from the scenic railway, but equally as enthralling and spectacular. There are opportunities to disembark along the way and to walk short stretches and circuits of the rainforest. At the bottom terminal, there is a gift shop and a small cafe. It would have finished my day off perfectly if I could have bought a cold beer at the terminal but unfortunately that was not an option. We were efficiently shepherded back to our return coach for the short journey back to Cairns. A thoroughly enjoyable and memorable day out.

We had booked this trip on the day I was celebrating a 'big' birthday and had bought the Gold Class having read previous reviews and recommendations. This trip was excellent, it is expensive but so well organised and informative we think it was worth it it was definitely worth upgrading to the 'gold class'. On collection from our hotel we were handed a personal itinerary outlining the order in which we would undertake the activities and at what time. We commenced our day on the Scenic Railway and having upgraded received a free mocktail on arrival at the railway station. We then sat within the 'gold class' section of the train and were served sparkling wine, wine/beer, tea/coffee, soft drinks along with Morning Tea warm savoury muffin, warm spinach and ricotta cheese pastry, Anzac biscuit and mango sorbet - it was all lovely. The train journey took us through the rain forest with a commentary provided about the building of the railway the journey in total was about 1.5 hours which included slowing down for photo opportunities of the view and one short stop to view the waterfalls which were rather splendid having had a full 24 hours rain the previous day!. On arrival in Kuranda we were given a small momento of our trip. We then had just over 2 hours to look around Kuranda before catching the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway back down to the collection point. There are two stop off points along the route, the first providing walkways through the forest to viewing platforms overlooking the waterfalls the second provided an opportunity to walk through the rain forest. A Ranger provided tours for those that wanted them this was well worth the 5-minute wait we had until the tour commenced as we learnt so much about the forest, how the trees, plants and animals all work together and depend on one another - we would never have understood what we were walking through had we not done this. Gliding over the rain forest canopy was incredible - the colours, the views - exceeded what we had anticipated. Although a long day, this is well worth it, a great day.
