Itinerary

Day 1: Brussels Half-Day City Tour (morning) Walk with your guide to Brussels’ beautiful Grand Place, where you’ll see Market Square. Then board a luxury coach and drive past the magnificent St Michael’s Cathedral, built in 1047, and continue to the National Basilica of Koekelberg, inspired by Paris’ Sacred-Heart Basilica.

Next, see the world-famous Atomium, the Chinese Pavilion and the Japanese Tower, famous for their 17th- and 18th-century collections of ceramics. Pass the Royal Residence of Laeken and St Mary’s Church before exploring the Sablon district with its countless antique shops. See the impressive Court of Justice and the Royal Palace, and then visit Jubilee Park, home to the Triumphal Arch and some excellent examples of Art Nouveau homes. Pass the Royal Park and the Belgian Parliament on your way back to the city center where your tour ends.

Antwerp Half-Day Trip (afternoon)After a 1-hour break to have lunch (own expense), journey to Belgium’s second-largest city, Antwerp, with your guide. Home to Europe’s second-largest harbor, Antwerp is often called the City of Rubens after the 17th-century painter who used to live here. Enjoy the city’s well-preserved historical character as you see its top sights. At the city’s ancient fortress, start your walking tour to Market Square and visit the Cathedral of Our Lady, home to four Rubens masterpieces, including The Raising of the Cross.

After some time at leisure in the city center, you'll board the coach and take a drive to Antwerp's famous harbor, the largest in Europe! Enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views from the 9th floor of the MAS Museum (closed on Mondays) and see diamonds sparkle at the Diamond pavilion of the MAS. Learn why Antwerp is called the world center for diamonds, before returning to Brussels.

Day 2: Ghent and Bruges Day Trip (full day)Leaving Brussels behind you, spend a fully guided day in two of Flanders’ wonderful towns – Ghent and Bruges. After a one-hour drive through the scenic Belgium countryside, arrive in Ghent, where you will visit St Bavo Cathedral, home of the world-famous painting, Adoration of the Mystic Lamb (optional; closed on Sundays). Then take a walking tour to see some of Ghent’s important medieval buildings, such as the Belfry, St Nicolas Church and the Castle of the Counts of Flanders.

Then depart Ghent and enjoy the drive through the Flemish countryside toward Bruges. During the drive you will listen to an audio history of Bruges and the Flanders region on headphones. Upon arrival in Bruges, visit the Lake of Love (Minnewater) and the Beguinage (a convent), and then enjoy free time to have lunch (not included) before you begin a walking tour. During the walking tour, see Our Lady Church with a statue by Michelangelo; Market Square with the Belfry; and Town Hall Square (Burg) with the Chapel of the Holy Blood. You also have the option to take a boat cruise through Bruges’ famous canals before returning to Brussels.

I've always wanted to explore Belgium a little more after a short weekend visit years back. This tour covered 3 cities where we were provided leisurely time and a quick tour in Brussels which I wish we had more time in. I would say my favorite would be Bruges as its romantic canals, architecture, and cute eateries were all picture worthy! Oh and if you have time, grab some fruit flavored truffles. So delicious!

I think it is important to understand the tour you are taking prior to the trip. These trips do not have very much free time where you get to explore each city on your own. They are true tours. Additionally, the tour groups are rather large approximately 20 - 40 people. However, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the tours. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and are passionate about what they are doing. I learned an amazing amount on these tours and you cannot beat the value. The Brussels portion was a narrated van tour of the city and provided you with an overview of the city. It also made two stops so you could get out of the van and take some picture. If you are in Brussels for a short time this may be your best option. However, if you are there for a long time it is a good way to get oriented to the city and you can supplement your trip with other options after. The Antwerp portion of the tour was especially insightful but different than the other portions. This may be guide specific or due to the fact that Germany destroyed a great deal of the city during WW2, but this tour was less about history and more about architecture. We did see the main church but also toured the diamond district and saw the incredible train station. Our guide was excellent unfortunately I am bad with names and answered every question that we had. Ghent and Bruges was truly the highlight of the tour. Unfortunately, it felt like Ghent was more of a throw in. It is a beautiful city with an amazing example of a castle modeled after the castle of the Knight's Templar from the Crusades. I thought the city was amazing but Bruges is on a level of it's own. I now know why it is often considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The tour was amazing and showed a lot of the city highlights. Our guide Stephan was originally from Bruges and you could tell in the passion which he spoke of the city. I was sad to leave this city and will definitely be back someday. It was the highlight of my trip.

The Brussels tour wasn't that great but the afternoon in Antwerp showed me things I doubt I ever would have seen or heard about. The next day's trips to Ghent and Bruges were amazing. The guide was excellent and readily available to answer even the dumbest questions.

This trip gave us a very good understanding of the history and background of these areas. It was extraordinary to be in an Antwerp basilica viewing so many Rubens originals.

It was everything I expected and gave me a good appreciation of Belgium in a short period of time.

This tour was worth the time and money especially the 2nd day which included Ghent and Bruges. Absolutely beautiful cities rich in history. The tour guides for Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges realized they were providing a service and did an excellent job of telling the history!!!! The tour guide is Brussels suck.

This tour is highly recommended since you will get to know Belgium in a very little time. The guide for the sightseeing tour and Antwerp was very informative and she was so kind and try her best to satisfy everyone. While the guide to Ghent and Bruges was not that good.

Great tour, great value!

Money well spent . Got to see far more than I could have done in the time if acting independently , tour office has a central old town location and is easy to find ,hotel pickups worked out well. Tour buses large modern and clean and well driven. Tour guides friendly and full of info , many off the track attractions were shown without their local knowledge they would never have been found. Given that this option is a four centre overview it should be appreciated that they move along at a fair pace so its a full day and busy this applies to both days , the break in between the end of the Brussels section and the start of the Antwerp is slim so little chance to eat etc so be prepared. More time in day 2 as its a full day on one coach as opposed to the coach change on day one . That being said I would recommend this if your time is limited you get the most bang for your buck and see loads in the four cities I am glad that we did this , but be aware they are both full days so up early and return late , I would doubt it would suit younger children . But top marks for the trip worth every penny, for those that might consider this or any other trip please listen to the guides re times etc , they are given in all languages so have some consideration for others .
