Everything about this was great! When we arrived, a Cambo Cruises employee quickly found us to guide us to where the ship was docking. On board, the staff was super friendly - actually the friendliest Cambodians we've interacted with in this country and I've lived here for 8 months. They spoke great English. They provided us a complimentary drink as soon as we departed that was unexpected and delicious. The food was amazing! There were only 6 of us on the cruise and it felt like a private excursion so the buffet service was closed. But when we wanted to share a 2nd serving of the yummy Khmer BBQ meats, they happily made more for us. The tour was great. Our tour guide was pleasant and the experience was both informative and entertaining. And the ferry itself was very relaxing. A great way to spend half a day.

Booked this as I had half a day spare so thought I might go and see what a silk farm is. I thought that perhaps this was just another on of those tourist traps designed to give you the bear minimum and then fleece you at the end with high priced goods. I was totally wrong, and instead found this tour to be one of the best I've taken, starts with a very serene and relaxing boat trip on the Mekong river while eating a very nicely cooked and large lunch. Then a 15 minute tuk-tuk ride during which one of the crew explains more about island life and the the Mekong river. Once at the farm, it;'s then onto a guided tour of the whole production cycle from eggs to finished product. The highlight for me was being able to chat with the ladies doing the weaving and learning more about the art of weaving by hand. Highly recommend this tour to anyone that is looking for a relaxing half day on the Mekong and learning about silk weaving. Added bonus is that the crew are just so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

As we were there during the less busy/rainy season, it was just us and another couple on this cruise - but that truly did make it all the better. The staff aboard the cruise ship are welcoming and friendly, and their only concern is ensuring you have a comfortable experience. The food was delicious and fresh, truly a great mix of Khmer and American with the bbq meat and spring rolls. Excellent drink selection as well. You spend about half an hour cruising south on the Mekong, allowing for some beautiful views of the river, but also the city and surrounding areas. The Silk Island tour was another incredible experience in itself. Our guide was such a pleasure to get to know as he showed us all the island had to offer, from the large, magnificent fish found in the Mekong, to other exotic animals kept in the sanctuary, and then the silk-making process itself. He truly brings to light the incredibly delicate work done to make the exports of silk scarfs, pants, wallets, and other accessories. From learning and viewing the worms in the various stages, all the way to the cocoons used to extract the silk, you are immersed in this incredible world and are able to view the hard working women and men behind such beautiful creations. You even get some hands on experience spinning the silk, which we all found to be quite fun and a little nerve wracking no one wants to mess up on that in front of others, right?. But all in all, it was a beautiful morning and afternoon spent getting to know such friendly locals, and it was a true blessing to be in their world, if only for a short time. I would recommend this to anyone looking to spend a relaxing time floating along the river, but who is also wanting to learn more about modern day Cambodia and the people helping to propel their country back into prosperity. Thank you so much for sharing your day and time with us - we will never forget it!

The lunch was fantastic and the guide was very nice and she made it a point to explain properly to us even though her language is limited. The silk Island was a good place to learn how traditional silk items are handmade and the villagers are very nice people. An enjoyable educational tour.

We had a super time - it was our first full day in Phnom Penh and we wanted an excursion but nothing too strenuous as we settled into the new time zone, etc. The hotel pickup was on time in a tuk-tuk! and the boat was clean spacious with a great upper deck. Not too crowded, great crew who were very attentive. The trip was about an hour long to Silk Island, where we disembarked onto more tuk-tuks, which we rode to the entrance of the Silk Island property. Learning about how silk is made was really interesting - so much work goes into creating the beautiful cloth they weave on the property! Of course you have a chance to buy some of their work which makes a nice story to go along with the souvenir. Tuk-tuks back to the boat, where we were served a very delicious buffet lunch on our return cruise. I thought this was a great value and a great way to see a part of Cambodia that was out of the city. Not to mention that a cruise on the river was a nice breezy way to enjoy a very hot day.

This was a well organized trip and the staff were all very accommodating . Our server, Pin, spoke English quite well and answered all our questions. The island guide was very thorough with his history and knowledge of silk cloth. His presentation was a little lengthy for me due to standing so long in the humid heat. Overall, I do recommend the cruise.

I had an absolutely LOVELY time with this tour! From the moment I arrived on the boat, I was greeted with lovely and friendly smiles from the young ladies, Pin and Lin. It was only myself and one other passenger for the entire trip, however, Pin, and Lin were wonderful with making sure that we were taken care of and enjoying ourselves with a nice refreshing welcome drink. Very gracious and super sweet hosts! The cruise was on a beautiful day and the boat is quite comfortable with an over hang to shield you from the blazing sun. The ride was smooth, peaceful and enjoyable and I learned quite a bit about Cambodian fishing life along the way. The lunch was very good and tasty and was a great way to enjoy the scenery as we ate and chatted. A tuk-tuk met us once we arrived on the island and took us around the Silk Farm and Pin and Lin were great in explaining the history of the island and answered any questions about the island and it's inhabitants. They were fun and quite knowledgeable. From there, we were met by a young man who was our guide for the Silk Island. He was funny, entertaining and gave us great insight into how the silk is produced by the silk worms, the step by step process which was fascinating! He took us around to the silk weavers and watched them at work and let me say, these ladies work HARD and are so incredibly talented! Talk about both an art and skill simultaneously, watching them create beautiful silk articles. the little shop that houses their finisihed products was a field day of color and texture. I had to buy several scarves and other items because everyting was just so beautifully done! We spent a bit of the time down by the river, and then returned via tuk-tuk to the boat where we had a relaxing trip back with snacks and drinks. Pin and Lin were still as attentive at the end as they were at the beginning and we had an overall great time together. I actually was thankful that there were only two passengers which made it all the more special with Pin and Lin as our hosts. What a fun day and would highly recommend Cambo Cruises and this tour!

The ride to Silk Island is a great way to view the development of Phnom Penh. We were the only group aboard the ship, and the crew was friendly and attentive. The boat was really spacious and clean. The quick tuk-tuk ride to the silk farm was a fun way to see the island's farms. Our tour guide at the silk farm was extremely knowledgeable and funny! He really made the tour worthwhile. There is a store at the end of the tour offering silk scarves made one the island. They are reasonable in price, starting at 10. Silk Island is a great way to see a piece of Cambodian culture being protected and revived.

I enjoyed the free flow lunch on board the cruise. As i went during the low season, i have the whole cruise to myself. Amazing river scenery and helpful staff to explain the way of life along the Mekong river. I also enjoyed the short stay at Silk Island, learning the origin of the village, way of life, silk production and amazing silk products being offered at the local shop.

Absolutely loved this trip. The boat is new and comfortable. We sat upstairs at large comfortable tables and the whole boat is undercover. The cocktails were great and the food was fantastic. We really enjoyed the view on the boat trip too. On arrival at Silk Island we took a tuk tuk ride through a small town. It was great to see the little community and all the local kids smiling and waving. The tour of the silk farm was very informative, with lots to see and touch. It was great to see the whole live span of the silk worm/moth and how the cocoon is made into silk. The ladies weaving are amazing and the work they do is beautiful. It was nice to also come away with a few silk scarves to remember our trip. I would highly recommend this trip. It was interesting, fun and the staff are friendly and professional.
