Important InfoInfo
We start our adventure with a visit to Angkor Wat temple, easily the most famous and best-preserved of all temples within the Angkor complex. We then move on to Angkor Thom, visiting Bayon, with its 54 towers decorated with more than 200 enigmatic smiling faces, Phimeanakas, Baphoun, Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. We finish the morning with a stop at the very photogenic South Gate of Angkor Thom City, where the gods and demons line the road leading to the gate, struggling in a cosmic tug-of-war. The Gate itself is crowned with four large faces facing in the cardinal directions.

Lunch is Khmer-style in a local restaurant. Regain your energy enjoying a sumptuous Khmer feast near Sras Srang, the Royal Pool of Ablutions, originally reserved for the king and his consorts. Enjoy a spread of great local food followed by a nap lazing in a hammock, or explore to see the traditional way of life and say hello to the Cambodians living here.

After lunch we continue your day tour by visiting the beautiful Ta Prohm (Tomb Raider) temple, which was made famous by Angelina Jolie, of course. Feel like one of the early explorers as you visit this temple which has been left to be reclaimed by the jungle.

If time permits we'll finish the day climbing one of the oldest buildings in the Angkor complex, the brick pyramid-shaped temple of Pre Rup.

We set off at 8 a.m. from the centre of town with the driver and our guide Thu. We were a group of 8 brits - middle age to elderly. Our first view of Angkor Watt took our breath away. None of the photographs of it can do it justice. Thu was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable and was able to move us around so that we were out of the busy areas. We got to the queue for Paradise early and were able to ascend immediately. The wooden steps were very steep but I am so glad I made the effort - the views were amazing. We never felt we were under time pressure and Thu waited patiently. We were also fascinated by the beautifully and extravagantly dressed Chinese girls who were posing for selfies in spectacular places. I think we covered 7/8 temples during the day. The ones that stay in memory are Baphuan (sic) for its history of the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle (check Google), pre -Rup which housed royal ashes and Ta Prohm which defies description (not just because of its relationship to Angelina Jolie). Ta Prohm looks as though it is being devoured by many silver serpents -magical and mystical. During the day Thu made allowances for those who wanted to climb and those who wanted to sit. At Bayan there was a brief but spectacular storm which brought the faces to life. Thu was an expert at fun photographs capturing the carved faces. We went to a restaurant serving traditional food at Sra Srang. Even though the food may not have been to everyone’s taste (stuffed frog) we were introduced to many traditional dishes with explanations on how they were made. I think Thu coped very well with an eclectic group of energy levels and interest levels. A great overview!

Excellent tour along with Kim (guide) and Hun (driver). Took time to explain details at our pace, right amount of details. Went out of the way to help as we had left our bag with valuables at a shop. Thanks Viator for having the right partners.

Prepare to be amazed! The Angkor Temples Small-Group Tour features the highlight reel of the temples in the Angkor complex. We visited Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon and Ta Prohm in this half-day tour. As if the temples were not wow enough in and of themselves, our tour guide, Sokhom, took the experience to a whole other level. I can't say enough about this tour guide. He is exceptional! His experience as a native Cambodian and ex-POW allows him to provide invaluable insights for the curious traveler. My husband and Sokhom bantered back and forth all day long providing laughter to the entire group. Another point of praise is that Sokhom is an expert-level photographer. The things he can do with an iPhone is nothing short of amazing, and he is always willing to take a picture of you and your travel companions. This is THE perfect way to see the Angkor Temples!

Great tour, covered the main temples we really wanted to see nicely, and at a good pace. With many tours, theres often the obligatory stop off at a shop/store, etc., but not here which I greatly appreciated.

Our trip was wonderful! Yes it was tiring and having awful knees--it WAS challenging at times. Our ex-monk, Chansee was incredible though! He was informative, attentive and super professional. He really had a knack of letting us roam when we should and corral us when we needed to be together. We saw and experienced so much! The authentic Cambodian mral was WAY over-the-top for the amount of food we were given. Highly recommended!

Great package to cover the major temples at Angkor, including Angkor Wat, Bayon temples with giant faces on towers and Ta Prohm Tomb Raider temple. Our guide Sokhom speaks decent English, and is very helpful and knowledgeable. Our group started behind time because we had eleven people not exactly a small group, and the bus went around picking people at different hotels and some even turned up late. Nevertheless, Sokhom stuck to the itinerary and ensured that the group gets to see all the temples on itinerary in detail.
