Seasons and Weather
The peak summer months of July and August attract the most visitors with blissfully hot days and ideal water temperatures for swimming. The shoulder months of May and September are a great time to visit with a pleasant climate and sunny skies, though fewer crowds. The seas are still relatively warm so swimming is still an option. Winters are much cooler and wetter though still pleasant enough.
Bear in mind that if you are planning to visit in the shoulder seasons months of April and October, you may find that many restaurants and bars are closed while the offering of activities and excursions is more limited. Croatia is very much a seasonal destination and it can be quiet on the islands outside of the peak tourist months.
The interior of the country experiences a more extreme version of the coast’s climate with cold winters and sweltering hot summers. Snow is likely during the winter months and the peak summer months of July and August often reach the mid 30s (centigrade). The milder daytime temperatures of May and June make it a great time for outdoor activities in Croatia.
Our cruises and tours operate during the Croatian summer, when temperatures are generally high (particularly from June through September), so pack sunscreen and a hat, as the sun can be strong.
