Itinerary

Day 1 - Exploring Havana

Welcome to Havana. Your arrival airport transfer is included, and we recommend you arrive the night before your tour, as we're starting early this morning. Your Cuban journey begins at 9:30 with a warm welcome from your guide and fellow travellers. Wander the heart of UNESCO-listed Old Havana on a guided walk through its most iconic plazas, then share a delicious meal at a locally-run paladar. Later, we enjoy a walk through a successful community project that turned "the ugliest street into Havana" into a vibrant community - it even caught the attention of President Obama! The day ends with a hands-on cocktail lesson and dinner in true Cuban style.

Please note: Our Cuba tours comply with all regulations for travellers from both the United States and other countries. However, it is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct licenses and documentation to gain entry to Cuba. We suggest researching Cuban visa and border rules before booking your tour, as these rules are subject to change. We are unable to assist with visas, general licenses or other documentation.

We begin the day in classic Cuban style, touring Havana in vintage convertibles and pausing in the peaceful forest to explore its spiritual roots. In the afternoon, we delve into the history of the American Mafia in Cuba, learning about their pre-revolution influence.

Dinner is enjoyed by the river at a seafood spot with sailing flair, before we end the evening immersed in Cuba’s contemporary arts at the vibrant Fabrica de Arte Cubano. Built to represent the "New Cuba", it's a diverse space featuring all manner of artwork and installations, as well as bars and pop up shops.

Havana

Accommodation for this tour will be in Casas particulares (guesthouses) in Cuba, traditional, family-run accommodations offering a clean, comfortable, and authentic stay in residential neighborhoods. Rooms are small to medium-sized, with en suite bathrooms, air-conditioning (sometimes older and noisier), and hot water showers (often with medium to low pressure). Windows are provided, but sometimes small or in the bathroom. Towels and soap are usually provided, though towels can be small. Rooms may be on upper floors with narrow stairs. Mattresses are often Cuban-made, varying in firmness. These licensed guesthouses, used on most of our Cuba tours, provide simple, safe accommodation and reflect Cuba’s local charm and hospitality. they may be more basic than hotels, but they make up for this with character, hospitality and authenticity, helping to show you the real Cuba! Where possible, everyone in the group will be housed in the same guesthouse, but on larger group departures, the group may be spread between a couple - this won't affect the running of the tour.
