Meet your food-loving guide in Monastiraki Square to begin your tour. As you walk, listen to your guide share fascinating insights into Greek cuisine and explains the tastings that follow. Head into a centuries-old cafe to bite into your first Greek specialty of the day — koulóuria. A traditional Greek breakfast item, koulóuria is crunchy on the outside, but deliciously soft on the inside.

Next, dive into an enticing pastry shop to sample custard-filled filo squares and loukoumades. These golden puffs of delight are unlike any donut you’ve ever eaten before. Doused in sweet syrup and sprinkled with cinnamon and walnuts, loukoumades are delicious.

Continue onto your next stop and sink your teeth into a pie at an authentic Greek bakery, before sampling local cheese at one of district’s cheese stores. Then, head to the bustling meat and fish market of Varvakios Agora. Stroll past the many stalls, each bursting with color and aromatic produce, and taste some homegrown coffee. Unique in its taste, Greek coffee is brewed in a traditional small pot and served with foam on top and grounds at the bottom of the cup.

Next, visit some of the hidden specialty food stores to purchase tantalizingly fresh fruit, olives, cheese, ham and other alluring deli produce, before heading to a small souvenir shop to sample Greek yogurt, local wine, aged aromatized vinegar, organic olive oil and honey. Here, take the opportunity to buy some gifts for your friends and family, if you so wish.

Finish your tour with a wander down Evripidou Street. Heady with the scent of clove and cinnamon, this exotic street is famous for the herb and spice shops that have thrived here since the early 20th century. Enjoy a final tasting before ending your private culinary exploration back at Monastiraki Square.

My husband and I booked this tour during our stay in Athens. Our tour guide was Katherine. She is excellent! Did an amazing job taking us throughout the city and explained everything in detail. Will definitely book again :-)

Dorela was amazing. I decided to book this with my older parents and Dorela was extremely patient with my parents not walking a fast as younger people would. She's extremely intelligent! She knows multiple languages, and is knowledgeable in all areas of Athens. She even suggested a place to buy Greek traditional musical instruments in which we did. DO NOT pass on this wonderful, fun, and exciting tour to learn about the Greek way of eating and drinking!!!

The tour was pleasant, informative, interesting and good tasting. We were brought to the older and local section of Athens (less tourist-oriented), where we sampled 3 different phylo delights, fried dough in honey and cinnamon, Armenian cured meats (which may appeal to some), souvlaki, greek coffee, etc. Our young tour guide, Irene, made the tour enjoyable too.

Dorela was wonderful! She showed us parts of Athens we never would have seen on our own. Food was tasty and tour was informative and fun.

Very good food tour, one of the best I've been on. We sampled some lovely food and our tour guide, Ana was brilliant. She was so friendly and very knowledgeable. You get a lot of food for your money, so much, that I couldn't eat the last tasting as just to full. Highly recommended and a great day out, walking around places in Athens that you just wouldn't find on your own.

We spent a long, leisurely walk through several neighborhoods in central Athens sampling food and drink as we went. The wine and olive oil tasting was especially informative and tasty. More food than I could eat, but we were able to get a take away at our last stop. Highly recommend.

Guide,Irene, Spectacular! Her knowledge and personality made the tour fun and educational. Now the beyond, we had a health issue while on the tour and she got a cab and took us to the hospital and stayed with us for the 3+ hours to translate and hold our hand, then got a cab to take us back to our hotel while she accompanied us to make sure we were o.k. Then checked in with us next day to see how we were doing. Cannot beat that for a tour guide and company! If there were more stars, we would give them!

My husband and I had a fabulous time on our tour. Our guide had the perfect personality for the outing. She was wonderful! We walked all around town and tried several kinds of food and drinks. The most memorable being the coffee being made in the hot sand. We loved seeing Athens through her eyes. Thank you!

This is an excellent food tour in Athens. I suggest doing this tour early in your visit to Athens to figure out where you would like to return and visit.

We met our wonderful guide, Dorella, right on time in Monastiraki Square in Athens. She was a wealth of knowledge and had such an upbeat and positive energy which really set the mood for the tour. We toured delis, bakeries, the city meat, fish and vegetable markets, a cafe and olive oil and wine tasting and more - so much food we did not need our usual lunch OR dinner that day. Well worth the money and a great way to see many areas of Old Athens.

Dorella arrived promptly and we got right under way. (It was just my husband and me for the tour - so VERY personalized!) Dorella was so personable and pleasant and full of interesting information. As others have described - for this tour we visited at least 6 (may have even been 7 but we lost count) wonderful little cafes, coffee shops, eateries and bakeries. She also brought us through the maze of the surrounding neighborhood to see two of the local meat and fish markets. Dorella was a most outstanding tour guide with a very solid knowledge of the area and each place we visited. (Of course, you would expect such - but there are no guarantees. ) While a consummate professional, she was also personable and endearing and made us feel so comfortable. The tour itself had such a great variety of tastings and we couldn’t have been happier.

This tour was one of our favorite memories of Athens. Eirini was knowledgeable, fun spirited, and entertaining. The food selections included all of the items we’d wanted to try while in Greece. Highly recommend 🙂

My sisters and I had the pleasure of having Eirin as our guide. She showed us the city with great humor and knowlegde. All of the food and drinks throughout the tour was absolutely amazing. We were given recommendations for places to see and most importantly places to eat (one was the restaurant "Ella"). We got an insight into the world of Greek food and history. We enjoyed the tour and the opportunity to meet with a local and see the "everyday" Athens. It's truly an experience you shouldn't miss out on!

Daphne was the perfect tour guide! We had a great time with her and learned a ton about food, drink and Greek culture in general. She was very open and let us ask a ton of questions. She also provided lots of other recommendations for our time in Athens...all of which were excellent! Highly recommend!

Our guide was nice and took us to places we wouldn't normally visit. It's a lot of walking and I'm glad we did it to taste different items that we wouldn't normally order or try. We also visited a lot of non-food places like churches, so be mindful. My favorite was the light and airy donuts that weren't too sweet. By the last stop, we were so full we couldn't eat the Gyro/Souvlaki she took us to. So much history and a fun way to walk around Athens.
