Dramatic waterfalls, mighty volcanoes, bubbling geysers and the Northern Lights await you on our full guided tours of Iceland.

Known as the Land of Fire and Ice, Iceland is a country of contrasts and natural wonder. To the north is the famed Golden Circle, made up of Gulfoss, 'the Golden Falls', Geysir Hot Spring Area and Thingvellir National Park - a wonderland of geothermal and hydro activity. To the south lies quiet fishing villages, black lava beaches, glaciers and the volcano Eyjafjallajokull. Whether you're looking to visit Iceland for a long weekend or a week-long escape, we've got a great selection of group tours to choose from departing in 2019 and 2020. Go in search of the Northern Lights, explore the snow-covered wilderness and visit glacier fields on one of our winter trips or consider visiting Iceland during the summer months for rainbow-speckled waterfalls and long, sunny days.

The tour was wonderful! Highly recommended. One of the best trips I've ever taken. Thanks.

Our guide Martina was awesome and very personable. Very knowledgable about Iceland's people and the land, including history, geology, culture, folklore, flowers, birds, Iceland's economy, and, of course, volcanoes and glaciers. She knew when to plan a waterfall visit so we'd see a rainbow. She knew old roads and side trips. She could recommend shops for hand-knitted goods, and restaurants for particular food preferences. ”

Our guide was great. Excellent source of knowledge, friendly, great driver. Knew excellent places for lunch stops. Tour was a good pace, although difficult with staying up looking for the northern lights, although the hotels were so-so. The last hotel, in the south, was perfect for light hunting - no area lights, easy access to check outdoors from our rooms. Would have preferred a more remote location for the 2 nights in the west, since there were lights all over and it would have been difficult to see the northern lights if the weather was good. Excellent hot tubs ad breakfast, though.”

Frequently asked questions about our touring holidays in Iceland

Will I see the Northern Lights on your Iceland tours?

If you're travelling between September and March then it's likely you will catch a glimpse of these celestial light displays. We offer a number of tours specially designed around this bucket list wish, spending a night in a remote location away from city lights to increase our chances of seeing them. It's not something we can ever guarantee due to local weather conditions but there's a good chance you will see them over the course of your winter tour. Read our page on spotting the Northern Lights for more information.

Do your Iceland holidays include a visit to the Blue Lagoon?

Yes. A number of our tours, including our most popular 5 day Land of the Northern Lights itinerary, include a visit to the Blue Lagoon where you can relax in the natural geothermal spa surrounded by a dramatic-looking lava field. If you've got your heart set on a tour that doesn't already include the Blue Lagoon then don't worry - we offer a Blue Lagoon tour bolt-on that can be added to any trip in our range.

Can I go whale watching in Iceland?

Yes you can. We have a half-day whale watching bolt-on that can be booked in conjunction with any Iceland group tour. From Reykjavik's Old Harbour you'll join a whale watching boat excursion, spending roughly three hours out on the water in search of humpback, minke and other species of whale. This tour option is available year-round though the summer months (mid-June to August) are the best time to go whale watching in Iceland. You can also go out on a puffin watching trip too.

What is the Golden Circle and do you include it on your tours?

The Golden Circle is a popular touring route that covers some of Iceland's best known natural attractions. It's a circular loop that starts in Reykjavik and includes Thingvellir National Park, Haukadalur geyser and Gullfoss waterfall. You'll get to see all three of these sites on all our Iceland tours. Check out our dedicated guide to the Golden Circle if you would like to know more about these impressive sites.

How big are your tour groups and what is the age of your travellers?

The average group size on our Iceland tours is 20 travellers. You'll be travelling with people from English-speaking countries around the world so you can expect an eclectic mix of personalities and ages, ranging from those in their 20s to those over 60. Children over the age of 12 years are welcome on our Iceland tours so the group may include a few teenagers.

What is the standard of hotels on your trips?

In Iceland we use simple yet comfortable hotels that offer great value for money. Rooms are cosy with all the essentials you need. On tours where we stay in the rural town of Hella you'll stay in homely cottages, a great base for Northern Lights hunting in the dark evenings. If you prefer a higher standard of accommodation then our 'in style' tours are just the ticket with 3-4 star hotels.

What sort of transport do you use?

To get from A to B you'll be travelling on heated coaches that provide free WiFi for you to plaster your photos of Iceland's incredible landscapes straight onto social media. The large windows on our coaches makes this even easier while those not so attached to their phones can simply enjoy the changing scenery. For smaller group sizes we will use mini buses instead, offering a similar level of comfort.

When is the best time to visit Iceland?

If you want to see the Northern Lights then the very best time to visit Iceland is between November and February. This coincides with the darkest months of winter so there will be better opportunities to see the lights during the long nights. However, there is more to Iceland than just the Northern Lights and if you'd prefer longer days of sunlight to explore the many natural wonders then visit between June and August when the weather is at its most pleasant.
