Stop At: Colosseum, Piazza del Colosseo, 00184 Rome Italy

Begin your tour of Rome’s most iconic monument with Skip-the-Line access directly through the Gladiator’s Gate. Once the main exit for defeated contenders, this special entrance leads you directly to the parts of the Colosseum most tourists don’t get to see.

Your first stop is the Colosseum Underground – the backstage area where gladiators prepared for battle. Here, your expert, English-speaking guide will call on their historical and archaeological expertise to let you imagine the space as it once was. Scenery and caged wild animals stood ready to be hoisted into the arena by ingenious pulleys. You’ll practically feel the gladiators’ tense anticipation and hear the roar of the blood-thirsty crowd.

Then, walk in the gladiators’ footsteps on a partially reconstructed arena stage – a unique and amazing photo opportunity. And unlike the gladiators, you’ll get to ascend from the Arena Floor to the Colosseum’s second tier, where fans cheered the violent spectacles below.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Palatine Hill, Piazza Santa Maria Nova, 53, 00186 Rome Italy

The next stop on the tour takes you back to the very beginning. The Palatine Hill is the spot Romulus chose to found the city that would become Rome in 753 BC – a decision that ended in tragedy for his brother Remus. Here, steeped in history, you’ll enjoy a spectacular preview of your next destination: the Roman Forum.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Roman Forum, Piazza Santa Maria Nova, 53, 00186 Rome Italy

The Forum and the Via Sacra, the Sacred Way, were the heart of Ancient Rome. All of Roman life could be found in this bustling marketplace: commerce and trade, political rallies, military parades, and the sacred ceremonies of the Vestal Virgins.

It was a well planned tour to the Colosseum, our Guide Viviana is an archaeologist who is very friendly and knowledgeable, it was a raining day, but that didn't stop her from giving every pieces of the related history information that helped to make the visit so fun and satisfactory.

This was a great experience. Not only did we get a chance to walk around the Colosseum but underneath as well. Our tour guide Marco was great before throughout and even prior to entering the Colosseum. The history lessons were fantastic. His depth of knowledge was evident throughout. After the Colosseum we were led through the Roman Forum and given a similarly and informative tour of the Roman Forum. Marco was a fount of knowledge throughout. Great tour.

A great day out experiencing this amazing Colosseum both from above and below. We had a great tour guide.

This is the only way to see the Colosseum! Skipping lines, but also access to areas others don't go. The information from the guides is invaluable--we learned so much! SO worth the time!

Our guide was Roseanna. She was brilliant. She had so much information! She is patient and kind and had an excellent pace. Our group that day was small, but had some strong personalities.. she handled it all with grace and class. Ask for her, she is amazing.

Great tour!! Special access to the underground area (the best part of the tour) you go up and down the stairs to see the different levels. Great content. I would say no need to do the forum or hill unless you really are interested. Getting in the Colosseum and underground area is good enough. You will see some of the Forum from outside while you're walking. If there's an underground tour and arena access only, book that one. This is great too anyway you can always leave from the group anytime, just let them know. This is worth it!

My husband Andy I both really enjoyed this tour. We had been to the Colosseum before but never on all three levels. The explanations by our two guides were excellent. We had a woman who’s name I did not get that took us to the underground. She was very knowledgeable and interesting. Our other tour guide was Dony who was also very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I highly recommend this tour when visiting Rome.

In fact, we had two good guide but Mary Louise Kennedy was about the best guide i've ever had (and i am 68 !) Good, accurate stories without the traditional year this end year that. Excellent background information about Rome around the year 0 and later. Well, Nero....

Vasco was our guide and was great, easy to understand and answered all our questions. There is a lot of walking on uneven ground and climbing of stairs so wear comfy shoes for sure.

Fabrizio the guide, whom is also a PhD in archeology, was fantastic in telling us all the historical facts of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. His knowledge and expertise educated us beyond what we already knew about these ruins. If you decide to book a tour, this is the tour to book and be sure to request “Fabrizio the Guide!”

As usual, tour company reps got our tour ready and off on time, very much appreciated! Our tour guide, Lorenzo Dorato, was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and attentive to us for this tour. The underground experience was somewhat interesting, you get the feel of the tight spaces and dark tunnels there. A Colosseum guide took over during that hour. Many steep steps but there is a lift available if needed. She also took us to the top floor (more steep steps) for amazing views. It was a very warm day so seeing the big crowds we were extremely happy we did the small group with a separate access. It is the only way to get the most from a tour. The next stop was a hike up the Palatine Hill and through the Forum. Our guide made sure we had bathroom stops and access to water. The incredible history that Lorenzo gave us as we walked the grounds was awe inspiring. His stories made the ruins come to life. It is a lot of walking, lots of steps and if a hot day, it may be taxing for some travelers. We learned so much only to realize how much more there is to learn. Thank you Lorenzo for sharing all your knowledge with us!

Valerio was our tour guide and he was awesome! It was so cool to see the Colosseum in person and the tour was very informative. Glad we did the skip the line tour too because the Colosseum was PACKED! We also took a tour of Palatine Hill which was beautiful and also informative. Valerio was professional, funny, and he made sure we didn't get lost in the sea of people that were visiting the sites that day :) Great tour and definitely recommend it to anyone looking to see the Colosseum.

I had been advised to go underneath the Colosseum floor if I possibly could and after this tour, I see why. It was fascinating to see where the work was done to launch the spectacles. This tour also takes you to the top of the Colosseum where the view is wonderful. We (about 5 of us), walked over to the Forum and got an overview of that as well. We climbed the Palatine Hill and the guide pointed out the location of the imperial palaces and other items. She was simply very very good at what she does and was very knowledgeable.
