In Venice's Cannaregio district, meet your guide and embark on your food walking tour of one of the city's most charming and historic areas, which has been featured in The Merchant of Venice film starring Al Pacino. As you explore, learn about the Jewish ghetto's rich culture and luxurious food traditions.

Although an English word, 'ghetto' originates from a Venetian term that is now used by people all over the world. Discover the delights of the ghetto as you visit six restaurants to sample local foods, including Italian gelato. Your tour takes you across the ghetto and Cannaregio, which is home to an abundance of canals, Gothic churches, dainty bridges, and more. Walk along the streets and squares of the old ghetto (Gheto Vecio), and listen to interesting facts from your guide to enhance your experience.

See the rabbi’s house and historic synagogues (outside), and taste traditional Jewish-Venetian dishes like Sarde al Saor and artichoke bottoms, which are lovingly accompanied by fine kosher wine. Plus, take a leisurely and informative stroll along the romantic walkways known as fondamenta.

On the other side of Rialto, the oldest bridge out of 400 in Venice, indulge your taste buds with risotto and pasta at places where local gondoliers and residents love to eat. Then visit an old bakery where you will be served Venetian-Jewish biscuits and cakes. During your walk along the alleyways, take in enchanting views of Venice at night with its churches standing out against the canals, and sip Italian sparkling wine.

This tour combines art, culture, historical information, and food and wine tastings. For good measure, it is recommended that you come hungry, as you’ll be leaving full and replenished.

This tour company went above and beyond for me and my 4 friends who were looking forward to this tour as a highlight of our trip. A mistake on my part led to some juggling, and I have to say the company stepped up. I am so glad they did. Our guide Micheal was very thoughtful and knowledgeable. Our time in the Jewish Ghetto was full of commentary. What an interesting place to see. The stops along the way for snacks and drinks were just perfect. (Don't eat prior to this tour...) Walking with Micheal while he spoke of local places of interest was a joy! We ended with a lovely gelato, and brought home some of the best memories of our trip. Don't miss this tour!

Silvia was our guide. She knew all the local histories and places of importance. The 6 interactive food and drink places she took us were amazing in the selection and quality representing the local faire. We even ran into some people she took before, returning to one of their stops, and they could not say enough great things about her. Our allergies and food preferences were taken into consideration as well. I would repeat this tour that’s how awesome it was.

This tour was the perfect balance of information and great food! Our guide was very knowledgeable, and we learned a lot about this area of Venice that is slightly off the beaten path. All of our stops for food were good and there was plenty of food and beverages. We were quite full by the end of the night!

This tour started off off in a restaurant where we had enough food to call it a meal, we still had for more places to go. Come hungry for this tour because you are going to leave it. stuffed

Alice was a wonderful tour guide. She was fun, friendly, and very informative. We stoped at several eateries for food and drink to taste a variety of local delights. We would highly recommend this tour.

Ok...first things first: my wife and I were the only two on the tour so what started out as a group tour ended up being a private tour. Wow - how lucky was that! We had Sylvia's full attention and she played the biggest part in making this a five star experience. She was extremely knowledgeable not just about the food part of the tour but also the local history and culture - all of which she gladly shared with us. We really enjoyed her company and sense of humour - it felt like being out with a friend. The food was excellent and abundant...a light lunch is all you'll need if you're doing this tour. A great experience!! Thanks Sylvia - you're awesome.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Monica. She was very knowledgeable and provided first hand "colour" as to the history in Venice. The restaurants / bars that were chosen for our progressive meal were authentic and enjoyable. Overall, a great tour.

We arrived in Venice in the early afternoon so we decided to introduce ourselves to the city with a food tour! Our choice was excellent. The Jewish Ghetto tour served up lots of great tasting food and wine. Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Our group was diverse, sociable and interesting. The Jewish history was very informative. We ended the evening with smiles and FULL stomachs...highly recommend!

Alicia was, by far, the most enthusiastic guide we had on our 2 week trip. She is steeped in Venice history, and all the eateries we stopped at were enjoyable -- food and wine were tasty and the views of "inner Venice" were quaint. All in all, way better than the typical tourist trap. I woudl definitely do this tour again!

Lots of walking but well worth it. The guide was great, she explained everything in detail and was able to answer all of the questions that my wife and I asked. Eating in the ghetto was not the best meal we had but it it wasn't a culinary tour. The dinner gave us yet another taste of the foods of the area.

This was an amazing tour. We ate our way through Venice while we listened to Nikko tell us all about fabulous Venice. He was so knowledgeable. The restaurants gave great portions. We were totally stuffed by the end of the tour.

We loved this. I highly recommend this. We were both interested in Jewish history so this was perfect. Combining it with food was creative. They really took us to hole in the wall type places that locals would know and the food tasting was well worth it. Go hungry as you WILL be eating a lot.

We did this tour on 01July18, it was a fantastic time. Our guide Lucia, was simply great. During the tour we visited 5 great restaurants along with learning about the history of the ghetto. We went back to several of the restaurants later in the week because they were so good. It was one of our favorite activities during our trip to Venice. Kyle and Christi Captain West Virginia, USA

We were a group of 5 ages ranging from 77 to 20 and everyone loved this tour. Our guide was amazing, and all the food and wine along the way were as well. We loved seeing a beautiful part of the city that we hadn't been to. Highly recommend.

One of the best tours we did. Great experience, great food, our tour guide was Lucia who was the best tour guide we had across all tours in Italy. If you can get her you are in for a treat.

Alessandra is absolutely fantastic! This was my second year in a row having Alessandra as a tour guide, and the third tour with her. She does a great mixture of historic, social and food information. Hopefully we will be able to go back next year and book another tour with her.

This was the highlight of our trip to Venice! Our guide, Nico, was AMAZING, and he does private tours. Our small, intimate group of 6 Nico visited several different locals-only bars and restaurants only the first one was a Kosher place in the Jewish Ghetto, ate delicious food, learned a ton of history that we'd not have learned anyplace else. Highly recommended we would definitely do this again.
