Important InfoInfo
At your chosen tour time, head to Rijswijk (Delft Noord), a quick 5-minute train ride from The Hague, and walk to Delftse Pauw, one the few factories in the Netherlands that still carry on the tradition of hand-painted Delft pottery, or Delftware. Take a guided tour to learn about the history of this classic blue-and-white pottery and see the production process firsthand.

Next, take a break for complimentary coffee or tea and a traditional Dutch biscuit before starting your private pottery painting session. A professional artist will guide you through the process of painting a classic Delft Blue tile. Let your artistic side shine as you paint intricate blue designs on a white tile. When your masterpiece is done, the tile will be fired in a kiln, and about a week later will be shipped home to you as a unique souvenir of your experience.

Admire a wide range of Delft pottery pieces in the showroom. Make use of a discount on any additional items you may like to purchase. If you prefer to have your shopping shipped to your home address, this can be arranged, although the service is at your own expense.

Your tour concludes inside the factory.

Excellent tour. The best part of the tour was learning how the tiles are painted to create the different blue hues. Then to top off the tour, painting a practice tile and then painting a tile for real. When done, they glaze and oven fire your tile. After 8 days it is ready to be shipped to you ( at your expense ) This is a once in a lifetime experience you do not want to miss.

This was an incredible experience. My daughter and I enjoyed learning the process and being able to paint our own tile was great. We have since received the tiles in the mail and we are overwhelmingly pleased with the outcome. I would highly recommend this tour for teens and adults. I would suggest a small group as you receive individual attention. The people at the facility were so kind and were patient with all of our questions. I would definitely recommend this tour and workshop.

This is a fun activity for artistically inclined individuals, couples and families. Great instructor. Warm, accommodating staff answers questions and helps you personally create your own delft masterpiece.

We loved this tour. There is nothing like a hands on tour to get you excited about a subject, but to be taught by the master's at the factory was a rare and special honor that we will never forget. We were taught how to decorate a tile, then allowed to create another one with our own personal touches. They baked the tiles and mailed them to us afterwards additional fee, along with the handmade pottery we purchased from them on our visit. Definitely a must do for all ages!

Something a little different! Neither of us had ever painted before. It was fun and we learnt lots. We would most definitely recommend to anyone wanting something out of the ordinary and not just the everyday touristy things.

The most wonderful experience of my trip! I was able to work along side some of the actual painters and make 2 things to bring home as souvenirs from the factory. The artists were so knowledgeable and treated me so well. I was able to spend about 3 hours working side-by-side with them. While I was painting some others tours came through and thought I was one of the artists and were taking Pictures!

Being Dutch myself I have a collection of delftware at home so having the opportunity to paint my own piece was perfect. Our instructor was a professional painter of delft who stopped working that day to guide and teach us. You first practice on a tile to get the technique then you choose from various pieces which one you want to paint. The outline is put on the delft piece as a guide. The instructor is very helpful and there to assist you if you want to do a little freehand as well. Go for it! They kiln dry your piece and mail it home. I would have never thought I could do this but it turned out beautiful. Bottled water, cookies and chocolate candy were provided. Class size of 2, my friend and I. We Sat at the desk of professionals with their works of art in progress on the desk. Previous to class you are given a tour of facility and shown how they pour and mold the plaster. After the class there is time to shop in the store. Don't miss this tour.

Great tour and we enjoyed the information and the painting. How fortunate we were to have the patience and guidance of a master painter and we developed a real appreciation of delft pottery and painting.

We loved our tour and workshop! The intro helped us know the background for the pottery and the artist in the workshop gave us tips. Our kids, ages 9 and 10, stayed engaged the whole time!

We didn't have much of a tour, but did learn quite a bit about the skill required and the process that all Delft pottery went through to completion. I hadn't realised that Delft pottery was more than the blue and white ceramics we are familiar with. They also use many beautiful colours like orange and yellow and shades of green. The workshop was excellent. We had a local artist show us how to outline and fill our designs. It looks a lot easier than it is. We each had a tulip flower to start, and then we were given a choice of a sail boat or a windmill. I chose the windmill, and my husband the sail boat. Very difficult, but what fun. We received our painted pieces in the mail last week. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Lovely group. Very nice. We are novices at painting but they made it fun. We talked about it for days. Can't wait to see the tiles we did.
