This tour was very well organized and so much fun. It was a great way to see more of New Orleans and the surrounding areas that we otherwise would have missed out on. Our guide for the day was Kat. She always narrated our surroundings and the history of the area. First she took us to the Swamp tour portion where we had Bryan as our captain of the pontoon. The waterways and wildlife were very abundant. We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 plantation tours and lunch. Be sure to book with Tours by Isabelle. A small group tour and personal attention. Thanks Kat for a fun filled day.

While visiting New Orleans, if you have a spare day and have gotten your fair share of the city, definitely worth taking to see the beauty of the Louisiana marshlands and nearby historical sites. I went in November, so on the swamp tour you’ll hardly see any gators at this time, but still enjoyable scenery. The meal provided is excellent and authentic. Plus, both plantation tours give you an idea of the regions history with excellent guides, exhibits, and unique architecture. Check it out if you have a chance, especially if you love the outdoors and Southern history.

Ellen, our driver and tour guide picked us up at the hotel. She was very knowledgeable about facts regarding New Orleans. The swamp tour was great. Captain Brian was very informative, and who knew alligators enjoyed marshmallows. The food at Oak Alley plantations was very good-all the favorites of New Orleans. It was very eye-opening with the history they provided. The Laura Plantation had its own story, and interesting too. I enjoyed seeing the Satsuma, Banana and Fig trees. I would recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys learning and wanting to see something that has never been experienced.

The tour was very informative especially the Laura plantation. It was full of history about slavery and the plantations itself. The lunch was great! If you have not tried Cajun food before this tour it was a good intro to the food. The Bayou tour was informative of the ways Louisiana was trying to prevent the loss of wildlife and the Bayou. Where can you find egrets, blue herons, bald eagles, and Spanish moss! Harvesting Spanish moss is no easy task. Gisele, our guide, was a informed historian. She answered questions and was most accommodating to our needs. She suggested other places tourists can visit while in New Orleans. I would recommend Tours by Isabelle because it was a small group.

Great and well organised tour. We had a ball on the airboat, saw lots of gators, a grand lunch tours of two plantations and learnt much from, gisele, the licenced professional tour guide, a must.

It was our first time visiting New Orleans and we are so glad we did this tour! It gave us the chance to see some other places outside of the city. Our tour guide Joseph was great! He was very knowledgeable and provided us with a lot of really interesting facts about the city and its history. He was very accommodating and dropped us off close to our airbnb. We got to see many gators on the swamp tour. It was really cool to see 2 different plantations as each had their own charm. Oak Alley plantation was beautiful. They provided a really good lunch with traditional Louisiana cuisine. The next plantation we went to, the Laura plantation, is probably not one we would have picked from the pictures, but we were so glad to have the opportunity to go there. This ended up being our favorite stop of the day. The tour guide told the story of the plantation in a really creative way. I would definitely recommend this tour!!

This tour took in 2 plantations and a swamp tour in an airboat. In the swamp tour, Roger was a great guide, and took us up close and personal with some alligators, as well as seeing the picturesque side of the swamps. The plantation highlight was the Laura Plantation. Our guide, Kyle, was terrific; lots of information, humorous, and obviously had a passion for his job. Joseph drove the bus for the day, organised everything well and provided lots of interesting information on th way.

My wife and I had a great time on the tour! The tour guide Helen was really friendly and super knowledgeable. The swamp tour was a lot of fun and it was great to see some alligators. Highly recommend this tour.

Cajun County Boat Adventure and the Plantation day tour were memorable experiences. Hearing and the reading of stories about the old south will come to life on this tour. The bayou swamp tour was interesting – alligators galore! The architecture of the plantation homes with their interior and exterior grandeur, the slave cabins, the dress and the people was well explained at the two plantations that we visited. Our main guide Ellen was excellent. She is a true native of New Orleans and knew every detail about everything, which she generously shared. This tour is highly recommended.

The guide knew so much about the city, the boat ride was amazing and the plantations were beautiful! Food was very, very good. It was an amazing and beautiful experience. Highly recommended

From pick up to drop off, this tour was amazing in its organization and breadth of experiences offered . Steve our driver was an encyclopedia of New Orleans' history both old and current. Bryan our 'swamp tour man' was both entertaining and authentic (His family having been in the area since the 1700's). The antebellum plantations were a trip back to a confused and confronting old America and lunch was delicious. This tour is a 'must do' for anyone wanting a unique look into the American psyche.

Be sure to do this tour if you've never seen a bayou or a southern plantation. About an hour’s drive from NOLA, our entertaining and informative native guide/driver John brought us to the boat on the bayou. What an amazing place, with cypress trees, water hyacinth, alligators, herons, turtles and other wildlife. Our local guide/boat captain knew all about them. I was impressed. That was our first stop (restrooms and water too). Then came the plantation and a lunch buffet that was pretty good (gumbo, jambalaya, shrimp creole, red beans and rice, desserts, tea and optional mint julep). The plantation area is large and we had time to walk around for photos after the tour to see the slave quarters and really learn how hard their life was in the 1800’s. There’s also that gorgeous walkway with 300 yr old oak trees. Further away was another plantation, totally different style from the first and a different kind of guided tour, which I liked even more. Both had nice gift shops (restrooms and refreshments too). After that, we stopped to see a levee and look over the Mississippi River. All the way back in the van, our guide told stories of food, history, hurricane Katrina and his personal experience, shotgun houses, reality show film crews, and oh my. He had a great accent and was worth listening too, not like those guides that are just all facts and dates. He talked to us on the long drive back and gave us the history of the old cemeteries and the houses in the French Quarter. We got dropped off right at our hotel around 5pm. Perfect weather and good traffic, money well spent, especially with somebody else doing the driving.

We booked the Swamp Boat Adventure and Plantations Full-Day Tour from New Orleans. It was an early start and our tour guide John was on time for the pick up in a brand new van. His narrative was very entertaining and kept everyone laughing and interested. Captain Eric very personable who took us on the airboat gator tour which was amazing. We got to see quite a few gators which was exciting. We then moved on to Oak Alley Plantation where our guide was Robert. He was enthusiastic in his telling of the history of the estate and certainly had an extensive knowledge when people asked questions. Lunch was traditional, gumbo, jambalya, etc We then moved on to Laura Plantation and our guide Kyle. Again an entertaining storyteller.

This was such a great tour! It was amazing being picked up by your hotel and sat in a comfortable, clean, air conditioned private van for the whole tour. Joseph was a great guide and gave so many facts as he drove. It was really neat seeing the bayou on a boat and feeding the alligators marshmallows. The boat tour guide came off negative/bitter that he doesn't like people hating on the state, but his comments were unprovoked. Just take what he says with a grain of salt. The lunch and two plantation tours were also amazing. It was a really fun day!

This tour was organized by the company Tours by Isabelle and within a few days of booking I received an e-mail asking where we were to be picked up. Pick up was prompt and the ride was fairly comfortable. Our guide was Muriel and she gave wonderful insight of the city, the history, the culture of the Cajuns/Cadiens/Acadiens from a variety of perspectives. As a teacher by profession, I would highly suggest this tour for educators and student trips. Also, if you are French-speaking, they offer tours in French. The bayou boat ride was fun and we got see alligators and other wildlife. There was even a bald eagle. I wanted to take this particular tour because I show my French students the Globe Trekker episode on New Orleans and they learn about the slavery and plantation life. The two featured plantations were Oak Alley and Laura. In the series, the representation of Oak Alley was that of Southern Belles and American aristocracy, which doesn't capture the whole story. I was pleasantly surprised by the tour being very honest about who ran the plantation and giving credit to the slaves who built it and the horrors they experienced. Laura plantation exceeded my expectations in that our docent gave a thorough history of the family and the feelings Laura felt about the plantation's past and her feelings toward slavery. Again, if you are an educator or interested in the History of Louisiana, I would highly recommend this tour.

we thoroughly enjoyed the visit to both the plantations and the swamp. Laura Plantation was fascinating and the guide was excellent. It was a smaller plantation but so much to see. Oak Alley Plantation is magnificent and fits the idea of the ‘Big House’ . Lunch was delicious and the house although with less to see inside was amazing. The highlight was the airboat swamp tour. The allocators came right up to our boat. A very thrilling end to the day.

This was a great tour that let us experience some of the Louisiana culture outside of the city! Billy was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable and funny. I also appreciated how he communicated with us when the bus was running late due to flooded roads from heavy rain the evening before. We got to see alligators in the bayou, and then we got to tour two different plantations. It was very interesting to be where so much history took place. The lunch buffet was delicious, also!

Let’s start with our Tour Guide Billy! He was simply excellent, funny, knowledgeable and professional! What else can you ask for! As for the tour, it was super interesting, both guides at the plantations where great (Jessica and Pam). The plantations where gorgeous and full of history. We really appreciated having all habitants perspectives and not just the owners. We highly recommend this tour!

On day two in New Orleans we took this tour. It was probably one of the best days we spent in New Orleans. Gisele was our tour guide and she was full of wonderful information. We did our swamp tour first where we got to see several alligators. We then headed to Oak Alley plantation where we had an amazing lunch followed by a tour of a beautiful French plantation. We then headed to Laura plantation which is a authentic Creole plantation not far down the road. Both plantations were like night and day from each other. Gisele gave us so much information about Ariel landmarks and even showed us some other plantations on the drive back into town. Overall I totally recommend this trip. It was money well worth spent.

Billy was our tour guide and a top notch tour guide he is! Swamp Boat Adventure was beautiful and informative about the wildlife, history and life in the bayou. Many visits by alligators looking for their marshmallows. Also cranes and a huge bullfrog. Beautiful, antique drawbridge at the beginning of the tour. Oak Alley was amazing. After a lifetime, I finally got to see and get a picture of a Southern Magnolia tree in bloom! The Cajun lunch buffet was beyond expectations! A good sampling of numerous Cajun foods unknown to us New Englanders. Laura Plantation was fascinating--especially the construction. We had some history of the residence from the Sinister Criminal Intentions Tour we took on the evening we arrived. We all learned a lot about plantation life and life in the South. Thank you for such a great tour!

This was a fantastic way to see some history and nature just outside New Orleans. Our guide was wonderful, and we got to see Alligators right off the side of the boat. The plantations are beautiful, but a sobering reminder of our country's history. It was a wonderful way to spend a little time outside of busy New Orleans, and is a great addition to any trip to the Big Easy!
