Stop At: Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, 419 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70130-1035

Drive-out approximately 30 miles (48 km) to the embarkation point of your airboat from your New Orleans hotel. Depending on the option you selected, board a large airboat holding 15 to 25 passengers or a small airboat limited to six to eight passengers for a more intimate, personalized experience.

Set out on a 20,000-acre (8,095-hectare) tract of tidewater cypress swamp close to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Your flat-bottomed airboat is powered by an aircraft propeller to allow a fast, fluid trip through the shallow marshes. Feel the wind on your face as you zip into bayous lined with mossy cypress and tupelo-gum trees and your pilot points out a stunning variety of wildlife.

Prepare to see plenty of alligators in the warmer months (and warmer days in winter), some of which may be out sunning themselves on rocks! Your guide may even feed the gators, affording you amazing photo opportunities. Also keep your eyes open for turtles, snakes, egrets, herons and ibis. You may even catch sight of a hawk, owl or bald eagle. In the cooler months, look for white-tailed deer, raccoons and the large rodents known as nutria.

Your morning or afternoon airboat tour ends at the embarkation point. Be sure to check out the indoor exhibits of alligators — including an albino alligator — before making your way back to downtown New Orleans on your own.

Had a blast with “Captain Larry” on our small airboat tour! Was hesitant to spend $100 per person for this ride (which included transportation from hotel in NOLA), but was well worth it! The pick up was on time, clean bus, and the check in and obligatory pictures prior to the ride where handled smoothly (Spoiler Alert - I am no big on these pics, but my wife loved them and bought after the ride). Make sure you “special requests” captain Larry, a native Cajun, who looks a little rough, and my wife thought we were in for a “C” ride, but he was SUPER! Knows the area and history and wildlife. We saw bald eagles, alligators, great blue Herron, 3 types of turtles, and raccoons. NOTE - the airboat ride is LOUD and you are provided ear protectors, so you need to be bold in asking questions during the tour. All u need to do is turn around and get Larry’s attention and he will stop the boat and answer you. YOU WILL NOT REGRET BOOKING THIS TOUR!!

SKIP the large boats and get on an Air Boat! We did the large boat the first time we were there. It was nice and the guide was great but the air boat was AMAZING!! It was everything we wanted. It was fast at times, scary fast sometimes, exciting. We saw various kinds of wildlife including many gators. DO IT!

This tour exceeded our expectations! Amazing guide and saw 6-8 gators as well as raccoons and turtles!

Awesome tour! Our tour guide, Captain Tik Tok, was so great! Saw so many alligators, fed them, held a baby alligator, and so on! I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting NOLA!

This tour was great. The wife loved going through the swamp and they showed us some areas from the Princess and the Frog. Would reccomend for anyone. Also got to hold small gator. Very cool

Absolutely worth the price, I booked the larger tour, saw a bunch of gators and learned a lot about the area! Larry was a great guide and had a surprise fiend for us to meet half way through the tour. This was the highlight of my stay in NOLA and I would recommend it to anyone

Very close to the downtown and French quarter area, but still out in a cool and historic area of Lafitte. Other tours we have been on take extremely long time to get out to, so this was much appreciated! All of the airboats were super cool and the captains were fantastic. So much wildlife to see and we saw and incredible amount of alligators! The captain's to the great job of feeding them a little bit while giving you wonderful knowledge about the reptile, you can see and hear the passion of what they do. Would and always will recommend this place over any other gator/swamp tours to anybody visiting!

We were picked up right on time. Got out to the site quickly and not too far from the City. The staging was new and clean. Very organized considering it was crowded. They got us on our Airboat and our captain was very knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. Amazing-the alligator came when he was called!. We went on a small Airboat and zipped through the canals. People in our van were on the bigger boat and they enjoyed it too so whichever one you decide on they make it a great ride. Definitely recommend this company.

This tour was very entertaining. I had so much fun and our tour guide “T Earl” was the best. He was funny and full of information. We saw a bunch of alligators. I highly recommend this!

This was such an amazing experience! Our guide was such a delight and very knowledgeable of the swamp area. The guide threw marshmallows in the water to attract the alligators and it was incredible having them swim up against the boat! Highlight of my New Orleans trip and would do it again with this company!

My sister and I took the airboat tour with Captain Dylan. It was a great ride and he was very knowledgeable. He made a point to help us get some good pics and got some of those alligators to come very close. Thank you for a great time!

We absolutely loved listening to Steve tell us all about the gators and the Bayou life. The ride was exciting and safe and we got to watch him feed some of the regulars. Got great up close photos of the gators!

Airboat driver was such a knowledgable and personable guide! Great experience for a cheap price, would definitely do again if I traveled to New Orleans again.

I enjoyed this tour from start to finish. From the bus ride out where David, spoke about all sorts of unique features including the absolute worst place to get flat and how low the land is compared to the river level. Which is terrifying in some respects. Our airboat captain Earl, did an excellent job of showcasing the swamp, its beauty and wildlife. And his passion for the land and the creatures that live there is obvious. He let us hold a little gator and he kissed a wild gator. Clearly the man loves his job and is a tad bit crazy. Seriously, this is worth the heat, this is like going back in time a couple hundred years ago.

Being shown beautiful scenery in a high speed boat could not be any more enjoying. Awesome guide, safe and entertaining tour!
• Submitted 13 May 2019
We booked an airboat ride as we thought it could be a lot of fun, and because it could be fascinating to watch alligators in the wild. We booked a tour on the smallest boat possible, which happens to also be the most expensive, but it is worth every penny, as you get a lot closer to the animals, and the boat is able to get in where the bigger ones can't. This was a lot of massive fun, and our guide was simply fantastic.

If you are in New Orleans this is really something you have to experience! The scenery was beautiful and we saw a lot of alligators. We took a six person air boat that could go up the very narrow buyous. Brad was our guide and was very informative,

This was one of our favorite tours! Our guide was so knowledgeable and fun! He was very good at pointing out the turtles and gators, and we were able to stop at times to take good photos and we learned so much about the swamps, bayous, and all the wildlife and vegetation. This tour is a must do!
