Make your own way to the Tower of London on the banks of the Thames River. With your entrance ticket, Bypass the long lines at the main ticket office, and head through the group entrance and security into this imposing palace-fortress.

Built by William the Conqueror in 1066, the Tower has a dark 1,000-year history as a royal palace, prison and execution place, as well as a royal mint and armoury. Today, it still stores the British monarch’s Crown Jewels, just as it has done since 1303.

Once inside, explore independently or choose to take an optional audio-guided tour (own expense) or complimentary tour led by a Yeoman Warder or ‘Beefeater’, one of the ceremonial guards. The 1-hour Yeoman-led tours leave from inside the entrance every 30 minutes until the mid-afternoon, and offer a compelling insight into the tower’s history and sites.

See the brooding ravens as you walk around and be swept up by the grim but fascinating stories of the turrets, chambers and buildings around you. Visit the main, White Tower, to see its Royal Armouries exhibits, and enter the Bloody Tower, reputed to be where the ‘Princes in the Tower’ were murdered by an unknown hand in around 1483.

See Traitors’ Gate, through which the arrested Anne Boleyn was brought by boat from the Thames River. Then, walk to Tower Green where she was beheaded in 1536 on the orders of Henry VII, and where a string of monarchs and traitors also met a grisly end.

Step back to Tudor times at the Medieval Palace, where recreated medieval interiors detail comfortable lifestyles of Tudor monarchs such as Henry VIII, and stretch your legs with a Wall Walk, strolling along the massive encircling walls to discover more sites.

Lastly, don’t miss the Crown Jewels, the royal regalia and gems that symbolize the British monarchy. Join the separate queue to gaze at these sparkling exhibits, including St Edward’s Crown, used at coronations since 1661, and the legendary Koh-i-Noor diamond, the 105.6-carat diamond given to Queen Victoria in 1849.

Having explored as much as you wish, take your leave and make your own way back home or to your hotel.

Royal Palaces Pass Upgrade

Want to uncover more of London’s fascinating royal history? Then, upgrade to a Royal Palaces Pass that gives you a priority entrance ticket to the Tower of London together with admission to London’s Hampton Court Palace and gardens, and Kensington Palace, the former royal home of Queen Victoria and Princess Diana.

Your Royal Palaces Pass entitles you to one visit to each of the three attractions and is valid for two years, so you’ll have plenty of freedom to experience each site and discover its enthralling past at your leisure.

We were lucky and it was a beautiful sunny day on our visit. Enjoyed the changing of the guard and the Crown Jewels. Lots of visitors that day but by purchasing the tickets online saved us considerable time. Highly recommend the tour.

brilliant, just too many steps , isnt a place for those who find it hard to get up or down steps, which is a shame, we had to give up on seeing a few things due to steps, but staff and Beefeaters were very helpful, and very polite and made you feel the most important person there.

Awesome experience enjoyed every minute of it learned a bit about the history of the tower highly recommend

The printed voucher tells users to go to St Katherine and Wapping site to exchange voucher for tickets to the Tower. This is NOT necessary. You can take your voucher to the group sales booth at the Tower itself and get entry tickets. Also, the voucher does not allow you to enter directly through group entry - rather you still have to stand in line to enter. The Tower itself is a wonderful experience.

The Tower is well worth visiting, however the Viator instructions to redeem for ticket at the St Katherines/Wapping imaginary address is misleading and we encountered many Viator customers wandering around in the rain looking for the redemption point. Go directly to the Group Bookings Ticket Office at the entrance to the Tower for your tickets. We were informed that the Tower Ticket Office has complained many times to Viator and been ignored. Also note that the Crown jewels and Beefeater tours are included in the general ticket prices and do not require a separate payment so you are not being offered anything extra upon entry

Excellent! Worth doing for the whole family. The only thing I would say is that leave more time than you think you need to do the whole thing. We didn't and therefore had to miss a bit at the end and missed out on doing the London Bridge which we already had tickets for.

There is a lot to see here - it requires several hours to see most everything. The crown jewels exhibit was very good. There was probably about a half hour wait to see this exhibit but it was well worth it. All of the other attractions were good as well.

John was a great guide. Entertaining history lesson. Didn't realize these guides were long time service members. God bless them.

We went to Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels. They were beautifully displayed. Such a treat to see them in person. Also enjoyed The Crown Jewel gift shop where we made some purchases.

Our guide Mark was amazing. He made all that information fun and interesting to learn. He kept it light even tho the topic was somewhat gruesome. Amazing tour!!

Loved the tower of london , but was very dissapointed with tour company , very confusing on how to pick up your tickets and where, and we also paid extra for the part of crown jewels and beefeater tour and this is included in the price of tower, so we should have not paid extra and we did ordering tickets

The trip to the Tower was fabulous - The presentation was the best I ever had It was an anazing place - you must get to the Crown Jewels early

The Tower of London is so much more than the Crown Jewels! The jewels are beautiful but there’s so much history in all the buildings. We went to every building and enjoyed them thoroughly. I highly recommend giving yourself 4 hours to view everything and go to the Crown Jewels early or that’s all you’ll get to see.

This ticket is for entrance to the Tower of Lonon and does include the Crown Jewel exhibit and a Beefeater Tour; however, your tickets does not provide anything that general admission at the door does not. By that I mean that you have to wait for a Beefeater Tour like everyone else attending, and the Beefeater tours are huge. We dropped out of ours because we couldn't hear our guide. The audio tour (minimal extra fee) was worth the purchase. We learned some interesting history through the audio.

It was a great tour. Loved seeing all the different crowns and the jewels are magnificent. The grounds are very well designed and kept up

Loved the visit to the Tower of London. We both believe it was the best this we did in London. If you go, get there early and head straight for the Crown Jewels, then see the rest of it. By the time we got out the crowds we lined up for miles. We walked straight in. Well worth a visit.

Good introduction and history provided. Crown Jewels were very interesting. Lines moved pretty well, not terrible long wait (better than I expected).

The hop-on hop off bus stop is ideally located. The ticket is very easy to collect as you go in the group kiosk and there are practically no queues so it's very fast. The place itself is full of things to see not just the crown jewels. As for the latter I would have liked to see more tiaras that are in use by the royal princesses and duchesses at the moment, not just the royal emblems but still a must-see in my opinion.

There should be more said and at least one book written on the guards and their history. Plus what it takes to be a guard

A must see for anyone visiting London! So much history and my daughter (15 yrs old) and I appreciated the guided Beefeater's Tour! Line to view the Crown Jewels was long but moved quickly! So much to see and although we didn't get to everything we saw the portions we were interested in.
• Submitted 08 Jul 2019
So much history, so well preserved! Staff very helpful and fun! The Crown Jewels exhibition is well laid out- insures all get to see them for an appropriate amount of time! I wish the window at which to pick up the tickets we had purchased online opened before 10- only suggestion I have!

Highly recommend this tour! The Beefeater's tour was very informative and entertaining! We got there when it opened and visited the Crown Jewels first and then we did the Beefeater's tour. It worked out well for us. The Tower of London is very busy! There were wall to wall people everywhere!

Our tour was so well done. With so much to see and experience, our party of 4, spent almost 4 hours to complete our visit. History came alive with moats, dungeons, towers, knights and horses in armor, weapons, and rooms with period furniture. The crown jewels were impressive and so beautiful. Get in line early to see these, as crowds got bigger, lines grew longer. There are lots of stairs and uneven surfaces here. There was a great view of the Tower Bridge and river. below for pictures. The Viator printed ticket must be exchanged for an entry ticket at ticket windows to the right as you get close to entrance. We really enjoyed our time there.
