During your visit to Hanoi, one of Southeast Asia’s most attractive cities, you’ll intermingle with the local people on this private tour with a knowledgeable guide. After hotel pickup in the morning or afternoon (depending on which option you select), travel by private vehicle to see all the highlights. (See full descriptions below.)

Each half-day sightseeing tour includes a 40-minute tour by electric car around the Old Quarter of Hanoi, where you'll experience the exciting daily life found in the capital city. Then, depending on your selection, head to Thang Long Water Puppet Theater for an enchanting show, and watch water puppets come to life with traditional legends and historical tales. Or choose a Hanoi-style meal and slurp down a bowl of delicious pho bo (beef noodles) before drop-off at your hotel.

Morning TourVisit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex, where the preserved body of Ho Chi Minh—founder of unified Vietnam—lies memorialized in a glass case for public viewing. Located to the west of the Old Quarter, the austere and impressive monuments loom over botanical gardens and pagodas. Near the mausoleum, one of the nation’s most revered sites, you’ll find the Ho Chi Minh Museum, dedicated to the life and work of ‘Uncle Ho,’ as he is affectionately known in Vietnam.

Continue to One Pillar Pagoda. a historical Buddhist temple, considered one of Vietnam's most iconic. Then, head to the 11th-century Temple of Literature, one of several temples in Vietnam that are dedicated to Confucius, sages and scholars.

Afternoon TourStart your private tour at the Museum of History, which showcases Vietnam's history with large displays covering every period. Admire the building completed in 1932, considered a successful blend of French colonial and traditional Vietnamese architecture.

After your museum visit, drive to Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword or Sword Lake), situated inside a complex that includes Pen Tower and Ngoc Son Temple, which stands on an island in the picturesque lake. I highly recommend this tour! Our guide Minnie was wonderful and full of information. Excellent tour of Hanoi.

We toured the old quarter and really got insights into how people live. Our guide was excellent. We ended with a bowl of pho at the first actual store set up to sell it. Fascinating.

I enjoyed the tour and learned a tremendous amount from my guide. The booking details need to be updated as the puppet show times are in the afternoon so therefore cannot be included in the morning tour and in addition the electric car tour was not included.

Informative tour. Electric cars were fun for travel in the traffic. Guide was very knowledgeable.

This was an excellent tour. Tony, our tour guide was informative and helpful. We appreciated his readiness to take photos for us (we left our camera at the hotel) and for forwarding the photos to us in Melbourne. The visit to the Thu Huong Lacquerware workshop was the highlight.

Our guide was on time (early in fact) and was very knowledgeable. Was happy to adapt to suit us and he made sure the trip went smoothly at a pace we liked. Good intro and water puppet show was enjoyable.

We took this tour as an introduction to Hanoi on the first day of our holiday and were very glad we did. Finding your way around a new city can be daunting, particularly after 24 hours of travel with not too much sleep! The guide was very good and spoke good English. There were a couple of hiccups - water puppet theatre not booked and electric car tour not booked. The guide spoke to his office and both were resolved. Our experience of guides in Vietnam and Cambodia was mixed, but this young man was one of the best. Provided a lot of information about Vietnam as well as the sites we toured. Never boring. At £75 perhaps a little expensive for a half day tour?

Extremely overpriced for the rushed tour and not including the main Mossolium which closes at 11am! I was unable to do the electric car tour as too rushed and the cars were full which was unacceptable for the price paid!

Great sightseeing in the electric car but we really didn't see much of the city

Is quite bad, no instruction on when and where to meet until the night before. I have to call the local agency to confirm on the time and place to meet. The tour guide is ok but we took taxi to commute between the sites. Kind of funny to not have transport for such private tour. At 90 for 4 hours tour without vehicle, on taxi, this is not value for money at all, especially in places like Hanoi

We did not enjoy our tour. Our tour guide arrived 20 minutes late. We started the electric car tour around 2:20pm on a very hot day. It was totally not comfortable and enjoyable. We did not learn much from our tour guide on the cultural and historical side of the Old Quarter. He showed us the silk market , the candy market, fruit market and grocery store while waiting for the water puppet show to start. He took us to the Thang Long Water Puppet Show after the side tour and got us seats but did not explain what the show was all about as the laungage spoken was in all Vietnamese. Our tour guide did not also personally bring us back to the Sofitel Metropole Legend Hanoi Hotel but got us instead a taxi to bring us to our hotel. We paid 20Vnd extra for the taxi. We won't recommend this tour to anyone.

I am completely disappointed with the tour. Absolutely overprice for what you do/see. I paid for 5 hour and hour guide after 3 hours decided that we have already seen everything so he wanted to leave us at the hotel. I asked to see something else so he took us to a market. The place for the noodles is not to the standard of a 65 dollars tour, so when I told the guide that we didn't want to go he gave me 4 dollars back. I def not recommend this tour.

This was not a good tour and it was not worth the money the guide did show us the pagoda on the list .
