Just 90km from the more commercialised and glitzy Sharm el-Sheikh and around seven hours drive from Cairo, Dahab has developed from a hippy village to a highly popular destination for SCUBA divers, snorkellers and travellers seeking sun, sea, relaxation and – of course – the legendary dives of the Red Sea. Dahab has plenty to see and do.
And if you’re a seafood lover, Dahab is the perfect place to indulge. Situated on the Red Sea in Egypt, the seafood here is as fresh as if you just caught it yourself. Restaurant after restaurant displays the day’s catch in iced display cabinets, and you can wander past until you find your desired spot for the night. Fish, squid, prawn; the world is literally your oyster, or at least it is as far as dinner is concerned. I was in Dahab for 4 nights and enjoyed seafood in 4 different restaurants. It was superb each night, and in true traditional Egyptian style we would finish our meal with a Sheesha. Paradise!
