Carly Finch spent five days in Croatia last summer, and here’s a taste of what it was like. Thanks for that Carly, and good luck!
Let me set the scene; waves subtly rippling like a smooth satin sheet, the sun high in the sky with that warm touch on your skin for ultimate relaxation, and you – lounging at the beachside bar with your closest friends, sipping on that cocktail to send that cooling feeling inside you like a summers breeze…yes I am talking about the gem of the Eastern Adriatic coast, Croatia.
This summer (2010) I spent 5 days in Croatia, and it was not long enough!
Split is an exceptionally beautiful city, one I would highly recommend for those of any age, for the budding sightseer there is the old town, and the vast array of museums and ruins, contrasted with the bars dotted all over the island like confetti for those in the mood for an afternoon cocktail. Split is the perfect island to base yourself for travel in Croatia, from here you will find yourself on the doorstep to Solta and Brac, with many others less than an hour away on the ferry.
Travel to Croatia if you are looking for the kind of holiday where you could spend one day in Brac on a tour full of adventure, from climbing the mountains high until you feel the breeze cooling your skin that is sunburnt like the leaves of autumn, to bathing in the crystal-clear waters below. The next day you are in Split exploring all the beach-side bars and stalls, relaxing and reflecting, with the pain of adventure running through your muscles from the previous day. Finish off your trip with a day and night in Hvar, which is renowned for having the hottest bars in southern Dalmatia.
