Make a change with Picture the Difference photography competition

Picture the Difference is a new photography competition held in aid of ActionAid, and in conjunction with Bob Books, Powell Allen and On the Go Tours.

ActionAid is a charity that works to alleviate poverty and injustice throughout the world. Focussing on supporting the poorest and most vulnerable people, ActionAid strives to uphold these people’s rights to food, shelter, work, basic healthcare and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. They also conduct international campaigns on food rights, HIV & AIDS and education. Half of the proceeds from Picture the Difference will go to ActionAid to help them with this work.

Picture the Difference is a chance for photographers to showcase their work to the world and to be judged by an internationally recognised panel of expert photographers. First prize is a 6-day ‘Gorillas in the Mist’ safari in Uganda, sponsored by On the Go Tours. While in Uganda, the winners will have a chance to visit come of the areas where ActionAid does a lot of its work; and expose bright young minds to the art of photography. The winner will also have the chance to exhibit their work in London in summer 2012.

The panel of judges includes Alf Khumalo, Antonio Gamito, Dan Kennedy, John Angerson, Justin Lane, Laurence Watts and Sophie Batterbury, each of whom brings a wealth of knowledge and deep experience from different areas of photography to the competition.

Once entrants have submitted their photos, it’s up to them to spread the word and get as many votes as possible in order to be in with a better chance of winning. It also means that more people will see the photos, ultimately raising awareness for the cause. By entering this competition, you have a chance to change the lives of countless people, who without your help would be stranded by the cruelty of poverty.

On the Go Tours is proud to be a part of a competition that supports such a worthy cause. We can’t wait to see more from the entrants and we wish them all the best of luck!
