The Railway Man

The Railway Man follows the story of Eric Lomax, one of the many thousands of men who were forced to work on the infamous Death Railway during World War II. The storyline jumps between that of an older Lomax, struggling with his demons in 20th century Britain, and that of the young signals engineer who suffered at the hands of his Japanese captors in Thailand. Based on the best-selling memoirs of Lomax himself, this film tells an extraordinary story about the men that lost their lives building the Thai-Burma Railway, the history of the war itself and the struggle of one man to come to terms with his past.

Whether you have been moved by the film or simply have an interest in the history of World War II, why not pay your respects to the Prisoners of War who lost their lives building the Death Railway in Kanchanaburi on a journey through Thailand, with a visit to the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai.
