Delve into the Canadian wilderness in the summer month of August
Get back to the great outdoors in Canada this August

From the snow-capped peaks of the Rockies and the picturesque towns of Banff and Jasper, to the reflective blue waters of Meziadin Lake and the bubbling hot springs of Takhini, nature lovers will find paradise in Canada’s wilderness. The summer months are an excellent time to visit Canada with long hot days and bright blue skies, making for ideal conditions to explore popular national parks and to venture off the beaten track to discover unknown places. Drive the open road, sleep under the stars and spot grizzly bears and caribou.

Not only does Jordan enjoy gloriously warm temperatures throughout the summer months, but August is also the time of year when the incredible Perseids Meteor Shower can be seen at its peak. The vast red desert landscape of Wadi Rum is the perfect place to watch this spectacular celestial event unfold as thousands of stars fall through the sky. Spend two nights camping out under a blanket of stars and witness this incredible event and then set out to explore the highlights of Jordan in the warmth and sunny skies of summer.

August falls smack in the middle of the long dry season in Uganda, when daytime temperatures average at a comfortably warm 24C, with a slightly cooler climate in the mountains, making it the perfect time to venture out in search of mountain gorillas. Trekking in the Ugandan countryside and then into the dense rainforest to come across a family of mountain gorillas living in their natural habitat is truly a once in a lifetime experience. In the savannahs vegetation has also lessened due to the warm dry climate, making it easier to spot wildlife who come to drink at watering holes.

With vibrant cities and charming colonial towns, palm-fringed beaches and thundering waterfalls, Brazil is a temping destination throughout the year and August is no exception. Although technically winter in South America, this wonderful country still enjoys warm temperatures and clear skies throughout the month so you can take in the sights, top up on your tan and experience the real spirit and colour of Latin culture on your holiday here.

Stay tuned next month for the best places to visit in September.
