The vastness of Chile’s Atacama Desert, an incredible lunar landscape, is best seen from up above. Videographer Victor Fernandes uses drone technology to perfectly capture this wonderful destination which is a favourite with many astronomers due to the high altitudes and lack of light pollution creating the perfect conditions to gaze up at the Milky Way. During the video Victor shows us the desert’s kaleidoscope of colours, from the ultramarine and turquoise blues of the salt lake to the burnt ochre of the rock formations and the glistening white salt crusts. While Victor transports us to the desert for just a minute and a half, this is a destination where days can be spent exploring.
