Iceland

Tucked away in Northern Europe, Iceland is popular as a stopover destination for travellers heading to or from North America, Asia and Oceania. And it’s easy to see why. A land where nature is in charge. Where mighty waterfalls cascade and volcanoes dominate the landscape. Where glaciers calve giant icebergs and where geysers send showers of water into the air. Where the largest creatures on Earth come to breed. Iceland is primed and ready for adventure – are you?

Famous for

People travel to Iceland for all sorts of reasons. Here are three of the most popular!

Northern Lights

In the dark winter months from September to March, Iceland is one of the best places in the world to spot the bright green Aurora Borealis dancing across the night sky. Top of many bucket lists, the Northern Lights are the main reason behind many trips to Iceland. So grab your camera, head into the countryside, and cross your fingers!

Stunning scenery

Nowhere else does Mother Nature put on such a show as in Iceland. The plunging waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. The erupting Geysir Geothermal Field. The icebergs of Jokulsarlon Lagoon. The lava beach of Reynisfjara. Eyjafjallajokull, the volcano which ground European air travel to a halt in 2010. The list goes on.

Whale watching

At different times of year, the waters around Iceland are home to more than 20 species of whale, including sperm whales, humpback whales, blue whales and orcas. Seeing these gentle giants, the largest creatures on Earth, up close on a whale watching cruise is one of Iceland’s major drawcards. It’s included on many of our tours.
