The tour was great, the food was AMAZING! We actually went back to the restaurants the following days. Our tour guide was kind enough to type out the orders for us in wechat so we could order the same things.

Although booked few hours before tour start, i was the only tourist, it became a private tour. Ming my tour guide was friendly, good at English and knowledgeable, enjoyed the interaction with him. All the places visited were comfortable and tourist friendly. enjoyed the soup momos and the chinese tea session the most. highly recommended.

Great guide and delicius food to sample, off the regular tourist path. Including a lovely tea shop and ceremony, as well as the classic soup dumplings. Highly recommended.

I had an amazing time and Jim was a great guide. Like their website says, most tourists will never experience the taste and the flavors like I did. I had some dietary restrictions but Jim was kind enough to accommodate it easily and still made the experience awesome. The noodle shop, the bbq stall, the beer tasting, the pastry shop and the tea shop all had its own unique and wonderful flavor profile. As we walked from one place to the next, Jim weaved in aspects of local life. It was fascinating to learn about mobile payments, work ethic and life in Shanghai. I am forever grateful to Jim for this wonderful experience.

Jimn was an amazing tour guide. We went to about 6 different places to sample the locale fare. These were never places I would have been able to find my own. As we walked through the city from place to place Jimn would give us awesome information about the city from a local point of view. This tour is different from anything you will do but what a way to see a different side of the city. Would 100% recommend and 100% do this again. Totally worth it.

Lu was already waiting at the exit of the train station when I arrived and it turned out that I was the only person on the tour that afternoon. Probably because it was really hot outside but it made for a great personal tour through the streets of Shanghai. Lu inquired about what all I have already tried in Shanghai to ensure that we don't try the same things on the tour and keep it fresh and interesting. Over the next 3 and a half hours, Lu walked me from restaurant to restaurant while giving me a historical view of the neighborhood as well as the place we were visiting. We had Chinese pancakes, spent a significant amount of time at a tea shop, had the best noodles and pork I have ever had, tasted some soup dumplings and ended at a dessert shop where we also sampled local Chinese beer. Overall, it was a fun, informative and friendly tour that I highly recommend.

Jim showed me a kind of secret Shanghai – Shanghai in which I'd be the one to go most likely did not dare. This tour gave me deeper feeling of the city and several favourite places to eat.

We had a great time with Jimmy. He brought us places that I would have never been to or would have considered. Authentic places and food. Got a real taste of China. I eat everything, my wife and son are vegetarians. Jimmy went out of his way for them to have food available. We had a small group so easy to walk around and get to places. Felt very secure as Jimmy knew all the places. Well worth it as we would have had nothing like what Jimmy prepared for us.

We were completely thrilled with this tour. Our guide made sure we had so much food that we could barely move afterwards. All of it was excellent and from local establishments. Definitely give this one a shot, but come hungry.

Best experience, guide was very experienced in the local area and took us to off the beaten track to areas where we were greeted by the locals and experienced Shanghai foods in abundance

My friend and I had an amazing experience with this food tour in Central Shanghai. Our host, Draco Shi, was very thoughtful with the route, selection of locations, and the group's desires. He was very knowledgeable not only about the food from a culinary standpoint, but also from a historical perspective which was very enriching. Whether you are a foodie or not, this tour is highly recommended!

We had an awesome guide and ate SO MUCH FOOD! it was not only a great way to sample the food culture, but also to see a good part of the city by foot. Bring napkins/wet-wipes and an umbrella, in case it rains. I highly recommend this tour if you are an adventurous eater and love food.

We ate some amazing food that ordinarily we would never have ordered. The egg pancake stuffed with beef was especially good... oooh I could eat one of those right now 😋

I really cannot believe that any tour could provide more authenticity of the local food scene than this remarkable look at the real Shanghai. Lilac our tour guide aside from her perfect English was a joy to behold and helpful in every way possible in explaining where we were going and what foods we were going to have. We started a a local noodle joint to beer tasting in the hip French Concession and on to a multi course meal with a tea ceremony finishing in a soup kitchen that no person other than a local would know about (somehow Anthony Bourdain had found it in his Shanghai travel show). If you are looking for sophisticated food this is not your tour but if you want to experience authentic local food I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. We felt totally safe walking the streets at night and Lilac made sure to find us transportation back to the hotel. A fantastic evening and a very full stomach will remain as highlight in my memories.

My husband I were very interested in tasting food in the real Shanghai, not just in restaurants so we decided to book this tour. It was an amazing experience! Jim our guide and a native of Shanghai, was able to tailor the food to our tastes we are adventurous eaters while at the same time explaining to us the food history of Shanghai. Everything we had at our 5 stops was delicious. We started at a craft brewery, then made our way to a resto where we enjoyed noodles, pork and tofu. The highlight for us was a tea shop where the owner prepared several teas and homemade foods. Our final stop was another craft brewery the first in Shanghai. Jim was knowledgeable, and passionate about food. It was great to spend several hours just chatting and learning from him. We highly recommend this tour.

It was very enjoyable tour! We tasted local foods, beer, so many kinds of Chinese tea and so on and everything was perfect. Tour is not only for eating foods but also good for understanding Chinese culture and seeing local life. If you want to experience local things, I highly recommend this tour.
