Guide was excellent. Showed us what he considered to be the most important pieces of art and explained why. He was very knowledgeable. We would have been clueless on our own. Lunch was good as was the canal tour. That break gave us a chance to rest our feet before moving on to the second museum. Highly recommend this tour!”

I loved this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the various artists. She explained different styles and what various objects in paintings were depicting. I am not an art person, but I have a new appreciation after this tour.”

Excellent tour. Guide was superb. One issue for those that like to take photos...in the Rijksmuseum...not supposed to in the Van Gogh museum... but I saw many who did... even with a flash!...the guide wouldn't let us take photos until she was done talking about the painting except she'd go off to the next painting before we had time to take photos...so I was always trying to play catch-up to the next painting...but in fairness... there was a lot to see... and we barely had time for photo taking...but if you like wonderful art... this is a great tour”

This amazing tour with the passionate
Pieter, his subject knowledge is inspiring.
His depth of knowledge and subject matter expertise, allows you to absorb so much of the art. He expertly guided us to see so many exquisite pieces of art.
He guided with encapsulating delivery style through the life of Vincent.
The passion for the subject resonating from his every word.
An amazing day, which we learnt so much and was immersed in the masters worlds.
Highly recommended for Art lovers and anyone that would love to see the masters in one place.
Pieter thank you again for your knowledge and wisdom.”

Thank you Monique for a wonderful cultural experience on my first day in Amsterdam. The Museums were marvelous and I appreciated your explanations and time management to get to see so many masters. Lunch was a great stop. Just right for a quick refresh before moving to the canal tour..”

Excellent guide. Pace a bit quick but that is because it was raining. Really enjoyed the museums and the canal tour.”

I do not know a lot about art, but thanks to Monique by the end of the day I had learnt a lot. Her knowledge and passion for art was incredible. She was prompt, organized and very enjoyable to spend the day with. Ask for Monique if you book the tour!”

This is my first experience with a guided tour group so I didn't know what to expect. I was here by myself on business and had some free time. Monique was our guide and she was wonderful. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. We started at Rijksmuseum first. It was nice walking in without standing in line and she was very interesting as she guided us through the most interesting parts. My only complaint is we spent too much time at The Night Watch. I would have liked to spend more time at this museum but as we were leaving at 1 pm it was extremely crowded. The Van Gogh tour was also interesting and Monique knows a lot about art but makes it relatable. The canal cruise was fine but it was raining and hard to see everything out the windows. There is a lot of walking (about 4 miles) but it is enjoyable. I would recommend this tour to anyone.”

Well organised, informative and quality experience. This tour depended on the guide and it was first rate because of the depth of his knowledge, his level of engagement and his relationship with the group. It is a long day and he earns his money! The canal trip was excellent and being critical the lunch was a little disappointing. Soup was warm not hot. Michael is a true educator and we learned heaps.Thank you”

This was a long tour as advertised but it kept the interest of my teenage sons which is impressive. We loved the Rijksmuseum. The canal tour was provided a nice break and we enjoyed seeing more of Amsterdam. The Van Gogh museum was interesting but we enjoyed the other parts of the tour more. We had an excellent guide but I cannot remember her name. She shared a lot about Dutch culture as well as museum specific information. We learned a lot more than we would have on our own and we didn't have to wait in any lines.”

The guide was very knowledgeable and communicated clearly. He was also patient with questions from the group. The Van Gogh Museum provides the much-needed context for understanding the masterpieces commonly associated with Van Gogh.”

Rijksmuseum was absolutely great. Received audio headsets to hear the guide. Lunch was light, half sandwich and soup. Can add additional food for charge to cafeteria. Highly recommend this tour.
Canal tour was relaxing and enjoyable.
Van Gogh museum had less Van Gogh than expected but was still a nice visit.”

Our guide, Michael, did a fantastic job of introducing us tom the collections in a very structured and clever way, leading us in a subtle bur cleverly thought out way that built on each previous step. He masterfully conveyed an appropriate part of his vast knowledge in bits and pieces just right for a very diverse group without ever appearing blasé or bored. Despite having done this maybe a hundred times or more his enthusiasm and love of the arts always shone through and made our tour a most memorable experience.”

Special exhibit of Rembrandt at Rijksmuseum was a welcome surprise. The collection and display of his art was enhanced by a knowledgeable tour guide. The Van Gogh exhibit, again, was a large and wonderful collection. The tour guide provided the background and special qualities of each painting and of the artist's life.”

Although there was more walking than I expected, the overall experience was wonderful. Monique was the best - very informative, quick witted and entertaining in a such a way to keep you interested. Her enthusiasm for art in general and the museums drew you into the history of these artist, especially Van Gogh.”

We were lucky to have Michael Doggen guide us through the Rykes and Van Gogh museum. His breadth of knowledge about art history in general, and the Dutch masters in particular made our museum experience all the more meaningful and interesting. Michael provided historical context for the artwork, explained various painting techniques and styles and really helped us to understand the significance of pieces such as Rembrandt's Night Watch. I don't know whether all of the guides are as know and talented as Michael but I can tell you that touring the museums with Michael was one of the highlights of time in Amsterdam. Don't book this tour for the canal tour or the museum lunch - both were underwhelming at best. The museum piece, however, was totally worthwhile based upon our experience with Michael Doggen.”

If you have only one full day in Amsterdam, as we did, we highly recommend taking this tour, especially for the Rijksmusem and Van Gogh segments. Tour guide Pieter is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the artists and the styles of their times. He has a sense of humor that makes a long day more enjoyable. The canal cruise went by the Anne Frank House, and Pieter provided information about the life of her and her family. Lunch at the Rijksmuseum was a tasty soup and sandwich, perfect for the day as it was not too heavy and did not take much time away from the museum tours. The lunch also accommodates those who need a gluten free meal. Following the end of the tour, we walked from the Van Gogh back to Centraal Station, an enjoyable way to end the afternoon.”
