it was amazing, despite the bad weather conditions. The guide managed all the times and movements from one place to another.

David W. took us on an amazing tour to the Holy Island and Alnwick Castle! He was friendly, informative, lively, and funny. The Holy Island is a must see, we were very lucky to have a beautiful sunny day, and we could have stayed there all day! We then headed to Alnwick Castlet, David made sure we all got our tour group discount and then set us free to do what we liked. We went into the town to grab some lunch and walk around there for a bit, then back to the castle. The grounds are fantastic, we found so many different little paths that opened up to views of the castle. This tour is full of incredible history and magical scenery. We would highly recommend it and David W. as your guide.

We had a fantastic day tour through Timberbush Tours with our driver/guide Andrew T. Andrew took us to Holy Island and Alnwick Castle along with a stop at Hirsel Estate on the way back to Edinburgh. He was an excellent guide full of interesting facts along the way as well as humor and even provided some Borders music for us to listen to. The trip was well worth the money spent and we even got discounted tickets at Alnwick courtesy of Timberbush. It was well planned and there was plenty of time at all of the sites we stopped at. I would highly recommend Timberbush Tours and Andrew T to others, and would definitely book another tour through them in the future.

We traveled with Dave and it was our first trip in Scotland. After last year's vacation Polish agency we expected some boring stories, poor descriptions, generally - reasons to complained. And we were...shocked literally, my girl speaks much and all she said was deep inhale - Dave showed us what modern guide's job really means. We were astonish by his descriptions of historical facts, landscape, building, habits. The tour is very well considered - you've got time for everything on the island and within area of the castle you pay less just because you travel by bus not by a car. There wasn't a minute we were bored, if you hesitate - I bet you will love it. Thanks, Dave. You showed us what it means to be a real guide, you set a very high standard for next guides we meet.

We had a great day with our tour guide, David. Even though it was a rainy/snowy day, he made it an enjoyable day. Holy Island is a wonderful place with lots of charm and I would like to go back and spend more time there. Alnwick Castle has a lot to see and is well worth a visit. I would definitely recommend this tour with David for you.

Great tour!! Tour guide Hamish provided a lot of interesting information all through the day... historical, anecdotal, political, biological, geological... so much I learned on that day : The guide was very enthusiast and cheered the day with a fun range of traditional and modern musics and songs. The holy Island was beautiful and the various stops at little villages was just delightfull! We also had some time to stop by the beach to enjoy the incredible sky by Bamburgh Castle. Alnwick Castle was interesting and I would recommend, however, I might suggest its visit more if you are travelling with kids. The herbalist in me may decide to go visit the gardens separate ticket, the schedule won't allow you to do both sould I be to go again. Very friendly staff otherwise, I would rebook other tours with them : Thank you for this lovely day!

We booked the trip to see Holy Island, which was amazing. We saw the ruins of the old abbey, which was destroyed by the Vikings. You can only access the island during low tide, but you can see where the tide comes in. Alnwick Castle was used in parts of Downton Abbey and they were giving lessons on how to ride a broom Harry Potter style, which was fun to watch. Beautiful scenery!

Beautiful tour to two fascinating but quite different destinations. Alnwick is a beautiful castle with lovely gardens while Holy Island has atmospheric ruins and strong links to Viking raiders.

This was a great tour, Eric was our guide. He provided some great history, music and some social information through out the tour. We read the history of the Island and were interested in the site. The island and the views were beautiful. Our only wish was for a little more time here visits are sometimes limited by the tides. We also got to tour Alnwick Castle and the grounds. It is is still in use today and a good example of historic to modern. Very enjoyable day trip.

I had wanted to see Holy Island for decades. It was a beautiful day and it did not disappoint. Niall Wilson, the tour guide, was so interesting and knowledgeable. He brought everything we saw to life. And my granddaughters Harry Potter fans were ecstatic to see Alnwick Castle. The stop at Flodden field was an added treat. I highly recommend this tour and Niall!

If you have a day for a tour whilst in Edinburgh, this is an excellent choice. Holy Island is well worth visiting, especially when someone else has to organize the tide times for crossing. I was very pleasantly surprised by Alnwick Castle and the Northumberland countryside. Flodden field was something I hadn't thought I wanted to see, but I found it to be interesting to actually see the strategic situation for the battle. The small bus and small group made for a very pleasant day. We were lucky to have a beautiful day for the trip and I must say that the element which made the trip perfect was our guide, David. He managed to find the right tone for travelogue. He provided excellent insights into the history and culture of the region interspersed with funny anecdotes. The drive was a long one, but I found that the travel time passed very quickly and I learned some new things, which is always good. I would happily take another Viator trip next time I'm in Edinburgh and would love to have David as the guide. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

Truly one of the most peaceful places I have ever been. So worth it. Don't hesitate!

Alnwick Castle pronounced Anik was a lot of fun. This is the castle used in the most recent Transformers movie, several Harry Potter movies especially the broom training shots, and Downton Abbey. We were able to see most of the castle except where the family that owns it lives. The grounds were beautiful. The castle gardens were quite nice and interesting too. You may want to get in line to see if you can get into the Poison Garden tour which has all kinds of deadly stuff. There is a huge fountain with squirts of water that shoot across the fountain. There is even a putt putt golf course just outside the gardens area. Holy island was interesting. You can do some sampling of the Monk's Mead wine. There is also two abbeys. Only the newer abbey can be entered. The other is crumbled. Lindisfarne Castle is under reconstruction/maintenance so you may not be able to get in. It is further down a road away from the town and Abbeys. The best view of the Abbeys is to hike up around a hill near the water and you can get good shots down on the Abbeys. We had a little extra time on the way back and briefly stopped at Bamburgh castle. It is one of the largest castles I have seen in England and is impressive looking up on a hill next to the coastline. Supposedly Sir Lancelot had live there assuming there was a Sir Lancelot. On the way back we stopped at the Scottish border for photos with the Scotland sign and flag.
