The Aboriginal Cultural Tjapukai tour includes a drink on arrival, Welcome Ceremony, Lakeside Ceremony, dance show, international buffet dinner, dessert, tea and coffee. It's an experience that will leave you with deep and lasting memory of Australia's traditional people and culture.

From the moment you arrive at Tjapukai you will feel the powerful spirit of Australia vibrate through the atmosphere, creating an intense and mysterious mood. You will be met by the ‘Bama’ the people and welcomed with face painting, a glass of sparkling wine and canapes infused with native flavours. The Tjapukai Dreamtime story unfolds as you hear about the legends of the wet and dry seasons.

Follow the haunting sounds of the didgeridoo across a flame lit bridge to the rainforest theatre, where the Tjapukai people take the stage, presenting their culture with their inimitable blend of theater and humor. You will find yourself connecting with their love of fun in a world where there are no barriers, only joy and laughter.

In the haunting Lakeside Fire Ceremony, guests form part of the Rainbow Serpent Circle and share in an Aboriginal celebration consisting of music, chanting and dance that culminates in a magical fire-making ceremony. The fire is sent soaring across the lake to become a magical fireball, illuminating the lakeside and the audience. The Tjapukai people then appear in a flame-lit canoe, arriving to escort guests to the night's dining venue, The Flame Tree Restaurant.

At the glowing restaurant, the evening culminates in a sumptuous international buffet menu. Then the lights dim and the performers invite you to join them by the campfire for photos and time for an intimate chat.

Before returning to your hotel, there is time to explore the award-winning Tjapukai Fine Art Gallery.

I wanted very much to visit the outdoor gallery of aboriginal art near Laura, north of Cairns, but we couldn't work out the logistics of getting there and back from Cairns. We wanted some direct experience with the first nation people of Australia, and the Aboriginal Culture Tour was a nice alternative for us. The performers at the beautiful, new performance center outside of Cairns were very good and very engaging. We truly enjoyed every moment of the performance. The meal which followed was also very good. The Tjapukai Center also has an excellent gift shop.

This was one of our favorite experiences of our trip. We booked this somewhat last minute, and so glad that we did. The excursion includes pick up and drop off from the hotel. When you arrive, there are complimentary drinks and face painting. When the show begins, the dancers call everyone to the area by blowing a conch shell. From there, you are lead by torch to the arena to watch the dancing. The performers were excellent and were very passionate about the culture. We attended another's Aboriginal show in Kuranda a few days later. This show blew the one in Kuranda away! I can still hear some of the songs in my head as I write this. The buffet dinner is great with a huge variety. If you want a great culture experience, this is a great opportunity. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Cairns.

There were four of us who all enjoyed the experience, we were greeted with a drink and appetizers and time in the gift shop while all guests arrived. The demonstration started in the lobby with us getting our faces painted. They started by telling us some history about the culture. We were then led out to the dance stadium and then to the fire making pit. This was followed up by a great buffet where some surprisingly delicious options were given to try some native foods. If you want a delicious taste of culture this was a great experience. We also had hotel transfers included.

The show was great and the food was fantastic. We learned interesting things about history and culture in a fun way. We even got our faces painted! Easy pickup and drop off. It was by far the best dance demonstration we saw in our two weeks in Australia. Well done!

Nice Tour - they picked us up at our hotel on time and delivered us to the museum and aboriginal cultural park. The champagne and face painting in the museum, followed by the Aboriginal Show, and then buffet dinner that featured a variety of traditional Aboriginal foods made it quite a night to remember.

This was really touristy, but really fun! You get picked up from your hotel and really have fun learning about the Aboriginal culture. They actually paint your face and try to get you involved through in their dancing and during the fire-making ceremony. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and happy to be in pictures with you. Gift shop was also very interesting and lovely!

Transfers to /from hotel were on time. We were greeted with a glass of champagne at the centre before going outside for the outdoor show which we all participated in. Very good. Then dinner back inside. Buffet style, looks of choice, amongst which was freshly baked fish, beautiful! Another show after we had eaten before mingling with the cast afterwards for photos before being transferred back to the hotel. A great night had by all.

I didn't know what to expect with this tour when I booked it but it was surprisingly good. We received a welcome drink upon arrival and all staff were very friendly and helpful. The show put on by the dancers was informative and great audience interaction made it even better with everyone dancing around the fire and tapping with rhythm sticks. The buffet dinner was very good with great selection for all tastes and the wine was very competitively priced. A great night :)
