Stop At: Wave Expeditions, La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano National Park, La Fortuna de San Carlos 21007 Costa Rica

This fun-filled Class II-III white water rafting tour and zipline tree-top canopy combo tour begins with pickup at your La Fortuna hotel (please note: there will be an additional charge for hotels outside the immediate La Fortuna area). The bus may stop at other hotels to pick up participants. Shoes that stay on your feet are a must, and please make sure they're appropriate. Sorry, no flip-flops allowed!. Also make sure to pack a backpack with change of clothing and toiletry articles.

Prepare for the first half of your exciting outdoor experience as guides instruct you on the ins and outs of controlling your speed on the ziplines. Soon you’ll be ready to soar across the rainforest with the assistance of well-trained canopy guides, where you'll glide along the seven most extreme zipline cables of the park. Begin with an adrenaline filled climb up an 18-meter high tower (54 feet) to fly 120 meters (360 feet) high over the canyon - the highest place in the park. You will cross a hanging bridge to the longest cable -- 980 meters (0.6 miles) -- high above La Fortuna Waterfall with great views of downtown La Fortuna. Finally you will glide across the cables at high speeds -- up to 70 km/hr (43 mph)!

At the end of this section, your guides will provide a delicious tropical fruit snack before you begin your next adventure on this combo tour. Jump back in the 4x4 vehicle waiting to take you to the Balsa River where the day’s excitement is kept alive with an action-packed ride down the Class II-III rapids of the Rio Balsa. Once you arrive at the rafting "put-in" spot on the banks of the Rio Balsa, your guides and safety kayakers will instruct you on how to paddle, the basic moves, commands and safety procedures you will need to know before you embark on a wet and exciting ride. As you raft down the beautiful Balsa River, drink in the majestic foliage of the rain forest as you watch for monkeys, sloths and toucans while you raft. Enjoy a swim, tropical fruits and cold drinks during your break from the action.

After loading the gear on the bus, you will leave for your lunch spot, which is a tour on its own. A delicious, typical lunch is served at a traditional country estate designed for guests to truly experience Costa Rica’s peaceful country life. You will come to understand the meaning of Costa Rica’s favorite saying, “Pura Vida!”

After you finish lunch, you will ride back toward the town of Fortuna. You will have plenty to talk about tonight as you recount your thrilling experiences from this day that is sure to be the highlight of your vacation in Costa Rica.

The bus will drop you back off at your La Fortuna hotel between 4 and 4:30 pm.

The zipline tour was absolutely amazing. I have a fear of heights so I was pretty nervous but the instructor was completely understanding and helped me get over my fear. The zip lining itself was surreal and majestic. The rafting was so much fun!! We saw some animals (sloth, iguanas). Totally recommend this combo tour!! The lunch was also really tasty.

A mother daughter trip to Costa Rica. A day with zip lining and WWR. Wave Adventures is a very professional outfitter. Our transfers were in time and the drivers great. In both our outings the drivers pulled over to show us something cool on the side of the road. A sloth and an owl. Our guide for Zip Lining was Fabian 2. I give him a A+. He did everything right as far as making us feel safe as well as being a fun easy person to spend the morning with. Our guide for our Kayak trip was Carlos and he was awesome also. He was professional, thorough and personable. On the river Rovell was in charge. Again, professional and fun.the river was just right for the two of us and the sights along the way (sloths, iguanas, owls and iguanas). The ohitos from the river were worth the price. We also enjoyed the lunch, the food was incredible and the coffee and sugar cane demonstrations. Wave Expeditions is a well run machine. Was a great day and worth every penny.

I booked this combo tour through Viator for my last day in La Fortuna, based on the reviews. I'm in my 50's and had never tried either activity and decided this might be my last chance to do so. When I saw that first tower on the zip lining portion, I thought I'd be the one chicken in the group to back out. Nope. I did both and I am so happy I did! The waterfall along the cable was incredible. There were other special treats and touches along the way, which I won't spoil for you. Not to mention an authentic, organic, home cooked meal on a farm to end your day. You won't be disappointed.

We have gone on a lot of tours and this was probably the best one we have ever taken! The guides at both the zipline and the rafting were very personable, going out of their ways to make it a great time for us. Fabion at the zipline was great. Flaco/Gerald at the river was so good! He went way out of his way to make it fun. Considering everything that is included in this tour (ziplining, rafting, lunch, and great cultural surprises) it is a great value for your time and money!

So much fun and worth the price. Starts with prompt pick up from our hotel. All the guides for both zip lining and rafting were nice. Snacks and lunch provided.

Our family had a wonderful time with this activity. The instructions for zip lining were very detailed, and our group was very comfortable with the orientation. The zip lining was fun, but we were somewhat disappointed since there was no zip line over the falls as indicated in the description. The rappelling was an added treat and fun. The most fun and exciting was the rafting with our guide Moises. He was a very capable and reassuring guide who easily steered us over and around rocks, and our adult kids thought this was the highlight of our trip.

Diaz was great. Very engaging with adults and children alike. The kids loved him. Very safe. lots of fun! the sugar cane presentation at the end was a real nice addition. The costa Ricans are wonderful people who are very proud of their country, it is worth every moment to spend talking to them and learning how they live.

Amazing views ziplining! Pablo and Ronaldo were great guides, made us feel safe and were very entertaining throughout the day. Rafting trip was even better, a lot of fun and excitement on the river, even good for kids. We were in great hands with Carlos, both as a rafting captain and tour guide down the river, pointing out Sloths, birds and giving interesting information about Costa Rica and the wildlife. Diaz was an awesome tour guide on the bus ride, teaching us a lot about Costa Rica. Wave Expedition provided an amazing end to end experience, with transportation, fresh fruit break on the river, post rafting beers and towels and capped off with a trip to a local farm with great coffee and food. Then a very cool and tasty sugar cane demonstration : overall 10/10 day!

So much fun. Guides were all awesome especially Jeffery and Arcino the zip lines and Marcos was an amazing river guide. He was so knowledgeable and just st a beautiful person. River was amazing. Our faces hurt from laughing and smiling. Did not receive my link to the pictures I paid for on the zip lines. Will have to dispute this charge on my credit card.

Amazing tour. I went with my husband to Costa Rica for a short vacation and decided to do the tour. It was a worthwhile experience. It was well organized and employees were wonderful. The zipline has amazing views and the rafting was so much fun. The food was delicious.

This was the most amazing day! Jeffery tandem zip lined with me. Perfect and beautiful. There is a locker to rent so take a small bag with your suit/river clothes for later. Marcos was our guide rafting. He was awesome. Gave us a snack before and then fresh fruit mid raft and then an amazing meal.

My family husband, 14yo, 11yo and me had an amazing day starting at 7:00AM and ending around 4:30PM. Pick-up at the hotel was on time. We went on 7 fantastic ziplines including one that is 1 km over La Fortuna waterfall. Guides were fun. After ziplining we briefly learned about the indigenous Maleku tribe before moving on to whitewater rafting. Wave Expeditions provided us with a snack before transporting us to the put-in at the Balsa River about 45 minutes away. Our guide, Marcos, was very entertaining and even allowed my 11-year old to ride the bull after stopping for a snack of fresh pineapple and watermelon. The rafting trip started with class III rapids in pretty quick succession then ended a bit more mellow but entire trip was a good time. After rafting, we had lunch at a beautiful farm and learned about processing sugar cane. At the end of a fun and tiring day, we were delivered safely to our hotel. Highly recommend this trip!

Best bang for your buck in la fortuna! 7 zip lines and awesome rafting. Includes line by the waterfall. Xtra perks including butterfly exhibit, frog exhibit, native tribe visit, and sugar cane explanation and taste. The rafting started class 3 then got easier. Great staff at both companies.

The location, guides, transportation, zip lining and white water rafting were absolutely our favorite part of our trip to Costa Rica! We had a blast! Clean, comfortable, safe and everyone from the bus drivers to the guides the photographer were amazing! Do yourself a favor and book this trip, you will not regret it!

The day was flawless from the hotel pick up to the sugar cane demonstration. The zip line experience was first and it was amazing. The course was long and super fun - we flew past two waterfalls and through the treetops. All of the guides were very friendly and helpful. Next we were given a snack and then driven to the river. After some very helpful instructions, we were placed in boats and our guide Macho was the best! The level three rapids were exciting and he made it so much fun. After an hour of rapids, the guides pulled us over and cut fresh pineapples and watermelons for us. The last part of the rafting was more a a float and people could also swim. The guides also pointed out animals and was saw birds, a sloth, and some cool frogs which we got to hold. After rafting we were taken to a wonderful traditional Costa Rican lunch and sugar can demonstration and given moonshine. An amazing day from start to finish. Originally I was questioning the price but it was well worth it!!

You should absolutely do this! Guides were outstanding. Made it fun, and exciting but I was never worried about something going wrong and we had 3 kids 9-14.

The tour itself was incredible - the zipline tour was super fun and had absolutely incredible views of the Costa Rican jungle. We also got to stop by an indigenous village on the way back, which was a cool learning experience and introduction to some of the native culture. Next, the whitewater rafting was probably one of my favorite parts of my entire trip to Costa Rica we even got to see sloths! There's nothing quite like seeing your spirit animal up close and in person. More importantly, the guides were awesome! Not only were they great at their jobs in terms of safety, but they were also very friendly, knowledgable and funny. The included lunch is a very undersold part of the experience as well - it was my favorite meal I had during my week in the country. I would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone interested, it's definitely worth the money.

This was an absolutely amazing trip! The adventure started off bright and early with 7 awesome zip lines! Our zip line guides were incredible and loved to joke around with us. We were laughing and smiling the entire time. We then went back to the shop for a light snack before heading out to white water raft. This was the highlight of our entire trip. We were a group of six and all got to be in the same raft. Our rafting guide was hilarious and we all ended up in the water and one point or another we asked for it!. Finally we got to go back to a local house and enjoy some authentic Costa Rican food. It was absolutely incredible and I couldn't have asked for a better trip. Thank you everyone for your amazing service!!! Highly recommend to anyone!
