Crusader Castles, Wadi Mujib Canyoning & the Dead Sea

Wadi Rum - Shobak – Wadi Mujib - Dead Sea. After breakfast at the campsite, we head north along the Desert Highway to visit Shobak Castle, which is perched dramatically on a hill top and was built by the Crusader king Baldwin I in 1115. After exploring the castle we descend some 1300 meters to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on the earth’s surface. More than 400 meters below sea level, the mineral-rich Dead Sea is the world’s original health and beauty spa. Drift out and bob in the waters and slap on some of the famous black Dead Sea mud to give your skin an invigorating boost.

For departures between April and October we’ll head up the King’s Highway to Wadi Mujib. We’ll embark on a moderate –paced two hour trek along the Siq Trail. Measuring 500 metres in depth and spanning 4 kilometres across, the impressive Wadi Mujib is one of Jordan’s most remarkable natural features. This dramatic canyon features sheer rocky walls and sparkling waterways that range from puddle height to depths that are perfect for swimming (chest height or deeper) depending on the rainfall. When the water level is high you should be prepared for having to climb up ladders, clamber across boulders and be happy to wade through water. The canyon is just one feature of the Mujib Biosphere Reserve, the lowest nature reserve in the world, home to a surprising diversity of wildlife and plant species. Everything about this tour was fantastic! Not only was Egypt amazing! the group size, accommodation and additional tours were great as well! What made this tour special was Mahmoud the guide. To be shown Egypt by a local who also happens to be an Egyptologist is something truly incredible! His passion and enthusiasm on our tour created an experience we will never forget. I just cannot possibly recommend this tour enough. Thank you so much.

The tour was amazing ! What our tour guide 'Momo'' doesn't know about Egypt and it's history is not worth knowing. He went over and above to made sure everyone had a great tour and was always the ultimate professional, I can't sing his praises enough. Never at any stage of the tour did I ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable, the Egyptian people were so kind and friendly to us all.

I would highly recommend this tour and especially 'Momo' to all my family and friends.

Egypt was fantastic - learnt so many things about ancient and modern Egypt. We are often so misguided by what's presented in the media and also from Hollywood, but Momo showed us real Egypt and its people. Momo's passion for Egyptology was clear when he explained why he wanted to be a tour guide - so that he could his passion. From what I hear about the other places in Egypt, I wished I was there longer!

Hi, just wanted to say what a wonderful trip I had with 'on the go' in Egypt last month. Special thanks to 'Mo Mo', Akhmed Amil and Hanay who made us feel so welcome and safe during our stay. These guys made the trip so much more than just a holiday! I'll spread the word :)

Thanks again

Hi Sally,

well long overdue but here goes.

THE TOUR WAS AWESOME.

Highlights would include - first sighting of the Pyramids, Abu Simbel, Light and Sound Show @ Pyramids, Amro our Tour Guide.

What a great group of people, Amro was just the best, we couldn't have asked for a better tour leader. We were met at Cairo airport and everything ran smoothly from there. Nothing was ever to much trouble for our Egyptian friends.

Rob & Renee got engaged at the panorama view at the Pyramids which made that day all the more special, then we left for the Desert. The crew were so happy for them that unknown to our party they had purchased a chocolate cake (Renee loves chocolate) and brought it out to the camp site at the White Desert where we had a Bedouin Engagement party for the two of them. The gesture was just lovely.

Mohammed, Amro and Jimmy kept us amused over 1500 very long kilometres in the back of the Landcruiser Troop carrier (cushions would be great boy were our bums sore), we learnt a lot about Egyptian music and in turn we taught them about bad singers from Australia stuck in a Landcruiser (tell everyone to take iPods they have the attachments for the car radios). Jimmy even got us bogged once or twice and we had to push the cruiser out - gave him hell for that one.

We missed Amro once we departed ways in Luxor for Dahab, but Waleed was wonderful. We now have lots of wonderful friends from our trip (Guides and Tour Leaders included) that we now keep in contact with via Facebook. Invitations to visit new friends all over the world also which is just wonderful.

Jordan was spectacular - the Dead Sea a particular highlight along with a HUGE day at Petra, Rami was very knowledgeable, not quite the bond that we managed to forge with our Egyptian family but the time was much more restricted which probably explained it.

Your help in the lead up to our tour was also above and beyond the call and only made our trip that much better. We never had to worry about a thing

All in all a great time was had, we have come home with wonderful memories, thousands of photos and a burning desire to do it all again. We would recommend your company to anyone who will listen and will certainly use you again when we next head on an adventure.

All the best and thanks from the 4 of us
