The class was truly wonderful. We learned so much about how to make homemade pasta and ragu and how to make a lovely italian desert. The only downside is we never received our italian cooking recipes

We booked this cooking class for a birthday trip to Florence, Italy earlier this month, and are so glad we did. Chris and Carmella were fantastic!!! Everything was exactly as listed on the Viator post- from the Mercato Centrale trip to the full-day cooking experience at the farmhouse (seamlessly organized and prompt). Chris and Carmella are extremely talented chefs and are SO much fun to learn from… such a perfect duo! They truly made our day in Tuscany an unforgettable one. Thank you again and we look forward to receiving the recipes via email so we can make this delicious meal at home! -Leigh and Joe

If you are going to do anything in Florence CHOOSE THIS TOUR!!!! It was one of the highlights of our trip as we got to walk the streets of Florence with our lovely guide Olivia. She took us through the city to the locals market which was filled with meats, cheeses, breads, and all assortment of goods to pick out fresh ingredients for the meals that day. Upon driving to the villa (which is GORGEOUS!!!!!!) Carmilla was waiting for us with clapping and dancing and sining! She is a fantastic lively and energetic cook, speaking only Italian but still gets her point across with humor and pizzaz !!! This made the experience even more authentic and fun for the entire group which buy the end felt like a large family enjoying a traditional homemade Italian meal. Again I cannot say enough good things about this experience especially to anyone who wants to know how to make pasta from scratch, cooking techniques in the region for the sauce and appetizers and drink a generous amount of wine while you do it!!!!

This was a very enjoyable and memorable experience - started with a tour of the local markets to select produce, then a short trip to a near-by but very picturesque hillside villa with a well-equipped group kitchen. All seemed to enjoy making Italian foods (bruschetta, pork roast, past, panna cotta) over a few Chiantis. Highly recommend our guide Olivia and host / chef Carmella. This is worth a half-day of your time.

My son and I did this tour during our trip to Florence. It was the best thing we did. Going to the market was so fun. Gloria was an amazing guide and translator. Carmela taught us so much and was full of life, dancing and singing as she taught. I highly recommend this day. All the food we made was amazing and our group was great fun, too.

What a fantastic day! Some key points: - walking through the local market taught us about the different (and odd) foods the locals are buying. - our cooking class was conducted at a beautiful villa on a hillside just outside of Florence that had gorgeous postcard views of the Tuscan countryside. - our guides, Isaac (speaking English) and Carmela (speaking, singing, and shouting Italian) kept us both entertained as well as informed on some good, solid techniques for preparing homemade pasta and tiramisu. All the while the Chianti Classico flowed! Overall, Isaac and Carmela were wonderful hosts with a perfect balance of humor, information, and hospitality. The quality of this tour was well worth the price.

This was such a great day trip from Florence. Our chefs Isak and Carmela were so fun! Carmela was so passionate about the food, teaching the class, and having us learn - she sang songs (in Italian of course!) and her energy brought the entire group together for a great time. The views were amazing, and the food was fantastic! Isak taught us how easy it can be to make pasta, gave us some tips and tricks for each part of the meal, and was a great translator for Carmela. We had such a great time and would highly recommend!

Best experience we had during a 2 week visit to Florence Italy in November 2019. Learned how to correctly make bruschetta, pasta with meat sauce, and tiramisu! Isaac was hysterical and Carmella was a hoot. This is must do trip if you are visiting the city.

Isaac and Caramello were fantastic this is the 2nd tour we did with Walk About Tours. Both were top notch. We walked through the market and learned some history as well as sampled breads and cheeses. Then we took a short bus ride to the most amazing country side villa. We learned how to cook pasta and the most amazing pork roast and potatoes. Then finished it off with our very own tiramisu. One of our most favorite tours of all time. ADVISORY... there is a bit of walking. Too and from the market, and then the bus drop off is near the river by the library. Also there is some walking too and from the bus at the villa.

This was the first of our Viator bookings while visiting Italy, and it was phenomenal. Isak is an extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and HILARIOUS guide who took us through Mercato Centrale and taught us about the origins of the different foods we would use and cook, and let us taste some cheeses and breads. His humor is so dry and funny and sets a very good tone for the whole trip. Carmella is bubbly and delightful, and does not speak a word of English, so it was fun to practice our Italian with her. Her joy and funny stories helped make the cooking experience all the better. The other people on the trip with us were also very nice. And the food was out-of-this world incredible. It was so delicious and my wife and I continue to use the techniques we learned on this trip in our cooking at home. They provided us with a seemingly unlimited supply of wine, which was very nice to enjoy as we looked out over the gorgeous Tuscan countryside. We were here in early September, and the weather was perfetto. I would HIGHLY recommend this class. My suggestions would be to bring paper and pen if you wanted to take notes, and also to bring your own headphones if you are like me and want to avoid germs (we used headphones during the Mercato Centrale visit to plug into audio devices so that Isak could talk into a little microphone and we could hear him through the audio devices. This way, he did not have to yell). This was a fun and romantic trip, but I would recommend it for friends and even for family, if your children are not young.

We had the best time with Elisa and Carmella! We learned so much from them, met some really great people during the class, had so much fun and ate such delicious food. Every detail was thought of and well executed and planned. The things we learned in this class are better than any souvenir we could have brought home and will last much longer. I will take this class every time I visit Florence and it has inspired us to take cooking classes at home and on future trips. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

My wife and I went to this class and we loved it. Gloria and Carmela are a great team and are very entertaining. The class is large though (roughly 30) you will not get to make everything. But this was entertaining and fun.

The tour of the markets was very well done - it was informative and witty and explained some of the history of Florence and that relationship to food. The cooking class was equally well done and I recommend it to cooks and non-cooks alike.

The best day ever Was that shopping and cooking day in Florence. Our chef was not only amazing and knowledgeable but he was so funny. It was just one of the best days I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend this cooking class to everyone. You also get to eat the wonderful food you cooked with some great wine. Don’t leave Italy without doing this.

Isaac and Carmella were great! The food market tour was very interesting and on the way he gave us some info on Florence history and of the market itself. He gave some recommendations in the city totally unrelated to the tour which we acted on and were great ideas! (Michelangelo Plaza at sunset and the trick for finding a good, real gelato place). The cooking class itself was so much fun, you can be involved or as not involved as you want. We all made egg noodles but don’t worry if you’re not a professional chef, it’s not that hard and they’ll help you if needed. Eating it was so much fun - it was so good and we had plenty of wine. Oh, did I mention the views? The views of the Tuscan countryside were amazing. Very picturesque. Back to the food - bruschetta earlier in the day, a noodle with meat sauce, potatoes, and then pork brisket. Just note there is a little bit of walking and standing so wear comfortable shoes.

We had so much fun shopping and cooking with Isaac and Carmela. They really made the day. The food was out of this world and we made some friends. Highly recommend this!

I am not a "tour" person but the other girls I was with are, so we signed up. So happy we did! Isak was a great tour guide with a good sense of humor. He took us through the Central Market where we purchased all the food for the class, what an experience, taste along the way. The short bus ride to the hills of Florence was very comfortable and the views were outstanding. Once we got to the property we met Carmela, a great addition to the day. Her energy was contagious, so fun! The food we learned to cook was absolutely delicious. We had lots of wine and made our own pasta. They sent all the recipes as a follow up and we can't wait to recreate the day with our loved ones. I highly recommend this class. Big hugs Isak and Carmela
