Stop At: Chichen Itza Mexico

After boarding the transportation at your hotel and a technical stop of 10 minutes, we’ll begin the route towards our first destination, Chichén Itzá.

The main building is the Kukulkan Castle, known as The Pyramid. It is an icon of the astronomical, architectural, mathematical and engineering knowledge and, together with the platforms, they tell us about the past, with their many sculptures and representations of feathered serpents and Chaac masks, the majestic god of rain that lives in the sacred cenote.

Other places like the monumental Ball Game, The Astronomical Observatory, also known as The Snail and the area of The Church are worth admiring, thanks to their masks from the Mayan classic period. Come and explore with us this World Cultural Heritage Site!

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Cenote Ik kil, Carretera Costera del Golfo 3 Kilometros de la zona arqueologica de Chichen Itza, Chichen Itza 97757 Mexico

The second stop of the day is The place of the wind, Cenote Ik Kil. This is one of the accidents caused by the impact of a meteorite against the Yucatan Peninsula and it was an essential part for the active life of Chichen Itzá. Nowadays, it’s open to the public for the delight of visitors from all around the world.

Swimming in the waters of Cenote Ik kil is sharing part of an ancient purification in a place that Mayans considered the perpetual dwelling of Chaac, god of the water and the rain. Cooling off in its waters is entering the eternity, being reborn and rejuvenating in an ancestral mysticism.

Also, it is an official site for world cliff diving due to its waters, which are 60 meters deep. We will have lunch at the restaurant of the cenote.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Zona Arqueologica de Coba, Carretera Federal Tulum 307, Coba 77793 Mexico

Afterwards, we’ll resume our tour towards Cobá. It is a 1-hour journey to arrive to a place which it’s considered one of the most important cities in the period of glory of the Mayan civilization. With about 50,000 inhabitants at its peak and a total area of 80 km2, there are many iconographic power monuments in its representations and internal and external zac beoobs (white paths) that connect buildings and cities among themselves. The longest path is runs 100 kilometers and reaches Yaxuna, another Mayan city.

We had a great time! It was exactly what we were hoping for. We were picked up when we were supposed to be, we had a great guide who gave us a lot of good info, (but didn’t go on and on, so we had time to explore) and our driver was awesome! We lucked out and had nice weather for all of the activities as well. I would definitely recommend going on this tour! Thanks!

We loved this trip! Our guide, Mario was funny and gave us a lot of information of every place we visited. The only "problem" was that we didn't have enough time at Chichen Itza, as the place is huge (you would need a couple more hours for that).

I cannot recommend his enough, yes, it's a long day, but one day out of your vacation/Holiday to see Chichen Itza is well worth it. The tour of Chichen Itza was amazing but warm, there is shade under trees around the perimeter of the site but the main plaza of very open. We were lucky as it was cloudy which made the visit much easier. From there we went to Ik Kil Cenote for a swim and a few jumps off the 'cliff' into the very cool water, needed and enjoyed by all! After the swim came a buffet lunch which wasn't amazing but was good enough and plentiful, drinks had to be paid for but were not expensive, 50 pesos for a 'Sol' cevesa, 40 pesos for an fizzy orange / soda. From there we went to Coba, it's a big site so bicycles are available to hire for 50 pesos, it was great to gently pedal around (or two people can jump on a trike taxi for 125 pesos for 1.5 hours). Climbing the pyramid and looking across the jungle was amazing and my reason for coming to Mexico in the first place, it's a steep climb but the veiw from the top is well worth effort. Our guide was Jorje and our driver was Miguel, both were brilliant. Yes, it's hot. You are in Mexico, what do you expect? If you are considering booking this trip STOP... JUST BOOK IT NOW!

The tour was informative, well paced at each site, and fun! If you can, request to have Carmen be your guide, do so. She is funny, caring, and nice. Also, I originally called over the phone to book the trip and that was a pretty easy process, just wanted to confirm they could pick us up at our particular resort. The only confusing thing about this process was figuring out the pick-up time from the resort because you won’t know your exact time the day before based on other individuals that are going with you on the tour.

An absolute must when you're in Cancun. I recommend this tour to anyone. Our tour guide Sergio was such an amazing person and he is so passionate about teaching everyone about the culture and about the history of the ruins. This tour is about 12 hours and you cover so many things and everything is beautiful. It is a long drive time to the places, but just sit back and relax. They will make you laugh as well. They provide plenty of drinks and snacks for the road. I recommend bringing swim geartrunks, snorkel, bathing suit, etc. to Centoe. You will want it for when you go swimming. It is so refreshing after a long day at Chichen Itza and a recharge for the next trip to Coba. If you are staying at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar like we did, they will pick you up from the hotel lobby. I recommend you call Viator and book the tour and verify with them if the tour company can pick you up from the lobby directly from the hotel you are staying at in Playa Del Carmen. They were able to pass that information directly to them at time of reservation and all I had to do was confirm the day before via phone call with the tour company.

This tour is absolutely a must do when going to Mexico! Our tour guide Marcela was phenomenal at allowing us to do our own thing, but also extremely mindful of where each one of us was. Marcela was super fun, informative, and pretty much knew the answer to all questions! I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary, and couldnt have chosen a better excursion, mostly thanks to our lovely tour guide!

This was a fabulous day and the highlight of everyone’s trip. I was worried it would be too long of an excursion for a teenager with spotty cell service and a 9 yr old but I think everyone in the family thought this was our most outstanding adventure. The timing and our guide Carmen made the day. It was a lot of time in transit, but our guide had such interesting info the car rides felt like nothing. Our time at Chichen Itza was simply amazing. We nearly had the place to ourselves and had time to wander and snap photos with literally no other people in them if you just waited for a others to pass. We didn’t realize how the size of the crowd we were beating until we moved on to the next site and they were pouring into the complex. Lunch was lovely and had good variety. The boys absolutely loved swimming in Cenote and was undoubtedly the highlight of their trip. We rested in van during transport to Coba and after a brief history, were set free to climb to the top. It wasn’t that hard, just watch your step and be very very careful on the way down. My 9 yr old and I both came down on our butts. It was by far the best tour we have ever been on and we would definitely use again!

I would recommend this excursion, it was fun and the guide Sergio was so friendly and knowledgeable. My family learned so much about the Mayas. The driver was friendly and drove safely. I would not miss out on this tour .

This was a great itinerary featuring two amazing ruins and a cool cenote and a solid buffet lunch. Our guide was incredibly friendly and did an excellent job of leading the tour and explaining the ruins. The only real negative is the drive time, but that was known ahead of time.

Our Driver Roberto and our guide Sergio was fantastic. The quality of interpretation and education about the culture and archeology was as in depth as you wanted. The attention to customer safety and comfort was excellent. A small group was the way to go. Very personalized experience. Highly recommend this guiding service.

The trip that I had with Viator was very satisfying for me. The tour guide, Carmen was amazing and she give us so much information about everything that we visited. I booked the tour by searching on Google and I recommend it to everyone. Thank you very much for everything!

Small group of 6 which was great - Personal attention. Our Guide Francisco was passionate about his job and the Mayan Culture. We had a great time and would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to go to all 3 activities.

Our tour guide Carmen was fantastic. Absolutely knowledgeable and friendly, she answered our questions in English, and Spanish and English again if we missed it! An absolutely enjoyable day complete with recommendations for shopping for silver, lessons in local artistry and the meanings of the symbols that show up through out Mexico. Too much knowledge to retain in one day, but a very very awesome experience. Thanks so much!!

We took this tour yesterday and I cannot say enough about it!!! We, my husband, son, daughter-in-law and I, were picked up at our resort without issue and greeted by our tour guide Pablo and our driver Cesar at 0715. There were only 6 people on this tour and my family were 4 of them. Pablo was an outstanding tour guide and host. His knowledge of the Mayan history, customs and geography was outstanding. His education is in archeology so he knew very well what he was talking about and readily answered any questions we had along the way. Our driver Cesar was always waiting patiently with a wonderful smile. He always had the van ready to go and offered ice cold water at every opportunity. We felt very special with only 6 people in our tour as Pablo customized it just for us. We saw many other tour groups of 40 to 50 people and they did not look like they were having much fun. This tour takes you to Chichen Itza, the biggest cenote Ikkil and then Coba. There is enough time to have the tour and explore the area, although another half an hour at Chichen Itza would have been nice. Lunch was provided at the cenote and was good with lots of choice and plenty to go around. You did have to buy your drinks though. Pablo climbed Coba so once we were on top of the pyramid he gave us more info and pointed out interesting land marks that no other tour company provided. I had mentioned to Pablo there was a very large Mexican pottery store we passed on the way and wondered if tours every stopped there. Well, ours did because I mentioned it! Additionally, My son forgot his phone in the van after the tour. After some panicked moments we called Pablo and he made a special arrangement to drop it off to us today. My son offered him a substantial monetary thank you which he refused because he said they were coming this way already. That is unheard of in Mexico and just shows what an amazing person he is. Some tips for this trip are to eat before you get picked up if possible because lunch is a long time away. Pablo and Cesar did provide bananas, cookies and water/juice but we were very hungry by the time lunch came. Bring your swim suit and dry clothes so you are not uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Wear running shoes or good sandals as there is quite a bit of walking, climbing and bicycling which were all awesome. I and my family highly recommend this trip for many reasons but the most important was because Pablo and Cesar were superb hosts. I will definitely request them for our next Mexican excursion.

This is a great tour to be able to see two of the major ruins in one day, and throw in swimming in a cenote too. The tour company did a great job getting us 7 people to Chichen Itza early before the crowds. The first time I visited, I had a longer tour which was beneficial, and I am sure if this was the only ruins we would see during the day, the tour would have been longer too. Since we left Chichen Itza early, that means we got to Ik Kil before the crowds and the buses arrived. That was nice being able to enjoy the cenote without many people and then a nice lunch after. Coba was interesting. Bring pesos for a bicycle or tricycle ride as that is an extra cost and you do not want to walk. I got to climb the tallest ruin at Coba, and then the others that also climbed, returned quickly to the bottom since a rain cloud was heading our way. And then it poured! Thankfully the tricycle had an umbrella, but we kind of missed out on being able to walk around a couple other ruins. We had the opportunity, but nobody wanted to leave the semi-comfort of the umbrella and we could see them from the road. Great tour company and I can recommend them.

Our tour guide, Carmen, was fantastic! Learned so much about the Mayan civilization. I highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide was lovely. He was knowledgeable in the history of the Mayan ruins and gave us a lot of information. It was a little overcast, thankfully, as the tour got underway and it still was super hot! We then got to swim in Ik Kil cenote, which was a beautiful cenote and quite refreshing! I'd recommend getting a bike to go to the Coba ruins as the walk would be hectic in the heat! It was fun and climbing up those stairs was scary but the view from the top was amazing!

We loved this tour, our guide Chris had a great knowledge and because the group was small, we had a chance to ask the questions and learned a lot about Mayan history. Plenty of time at Ik Kil which was little bit crowded as we got there at lunch time. Lunch at Ik Kil site was lovely too. In Coba we walked to main pyramid which took around 10-15 minutes but it was a pleasant walk on a shaded path and we had a chance to learn more about this place form our guide Chris. Also cannot fault Orlando's driving - very safe!

The tour is excellent, the guide very passionate and knowledgeable. All day long everything was made to make us have a wonderful time, and what a time we had !!! Chichen Itza is amazing. Ik Kil was one of the most beautiful Cenotes I have ever seen. But CAREFUL don't go through Viator !!!! They're crooks who are ready to promise anything to have their commission but don't take any responsability. Instead, contact directly the local company : You won't regret it !!!!!

It was easy to book online using the app, and we used the mobile receipt for the ticket. The company phoned right away to confirm pick up details and phoned the morning of the tour to let me know they were running 8 minutes late. They had water and snacks, and a comfortable van with A/C. The guide had very good english and went over the schedule. He knew a lot about the area, culture, history and development as well as the mayan culture and explained that on the way, and gave us time to rest. We had a small tour 4 people so a lot of time for questions. He gave us meet up times at each stop so we could go on our own after the main tour. Overall it was very well run and the guide and driver were really nice and informed. The ruins were amazing, and we arrived early to Chichen Itza so we were there before it got busy. After this was the cenote, with the option to swim, followed by lunch. Bring a towel and change of clothes, you can't go into the restaurant with wet clothes. In the afternoon we visited Coba, our whole group wanted to walk rather than pay for bikes, and our guide was fine with this. It takes more time, but we got photos and time to talk about Mayan culture and the jungle with our guide while we walked. The bikes looked great too, and might be better for most groups. We all climbed the temple at Coba, and he gave us tips for this and came with us. I would definitely recommend this tour. This is great if you don't want to choose between the sites, they're both very different and amazing in their own way. It's also nice because most tours add activities we weren't interested in and force a full day tour. This one gives you a full day of archeology with an incredible cenote to cool off and break up the day.

This was an amazing tour! Our tour guide was Marcella, who was very knowledgeable and super fun to hang out with. Great sense of humor, great explanations and a lot of positive energy. The tour was on time with the scheduled pick-up, supplied plenty of snacks and drinks throughout the excursion and the itinerary was very well laid out for all guests. We were given great photo ops with the different locations we've visited. I would highly recommend doing a tour with them and I would certainly do another in the future. Thanks Marcella!
